Let's get a Rhodesia thread going
let's not
>>53190
Why not?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TrdraURegE
I don't know much about Rhodesia other than it was set up by white Brits, was sort of prosperous for a time, and is now Zimbabwe.
What was society like? What did they trade in, who held it all together, who was famous from there, what did that contribute? What were some of the nastier parts of the country, was it at all fair or equal? Was it libertarian or authoritarian? What cultures were dominant? How did it become Zimbabwe?
Hey guys do you think Jesus was a real historical figure?
>>52917
Nice b8, OP. How many threads is that now?
The image would be far more offensive and powerful if it didn't have the demon. Just the ideas that Jesus never left the cross, that the whole Resurrection is a lie and the cross is a symbol of his defeat.
That's powerful.
>>52977
The picture was just to keep out people who might have a biased view.
I'm going to dump a few pictures of historic New Zealand.
Depending how the thread goes I might post pictures from other countries/maybe even do a historic fashion thread (as a side note does anyone have any websites with collections of photographs from Victorian/Edwardian England?).

Did this guy fuck up everything? Or was war in Europe bound to happen?
He pretty much caused the 20th century. Hundreds of millions of death can be attributed indirectly to his actions
>>52860
Hard to say to be sincere.
I'd say eventually there would have been a crisis like always.
But yes its all his fault.
>>52860
It was brewing, then this guy comes along and spills the pot all over Belgium and France
Can we have one of these threads?
Is Western Civilization on decline? Are there any commonalities between the state of the West and the state of other empires in the past (Roman, Egyptian)?
What causes civilizational decline?
>>52661
Cultural Marxism
I think people are being dramatic. What numbers show us in decline?

We all know that this board is in turmoil, and to be quite frank, I like it, the amount of actual high level discussion(from both sides) and length of paragraphs is a breath of fresh air from the dead 10 character max epic maymays most of 4Chan had become, though we are already seeing decay brought over from previous boards.
So in this thread we propose ways of keeping levels of discussion high. Have a problem with Jews? Fine but you sure as fuck better have cited historical examples, think socialism is great? Better explain the precedence of socialist policy positives throughout history(NOTE DO NOT ARGUE ABOUT STATED EXAMPLES).
No the problem lies when discussion devolved into a group of tards posting one line memes or reaction images(fedora, autist, muh Magic sky daddy) rather then engaging in informative discussion that leads to the cognitive enrichment of everyone.
So in this thread, we propose creative examples of how to keep /his/ fresh. Please, without bias or flaring passions, brainstorm ideas to help all /his/torians.
Three ideas I thought we could throw around are:
1. The /r9k/ bot, or what it's original purpose was, to foster OC. In our case it would greatly cut down on small shitposter sentences, and hopefully if not stop shitposters, at least make them work for their fix.
2. Discourage precedence of ideas, this one might be a bit harder to pull off, but the general jist would be to encourage /his/torians to be as impartial as possible, what do I mean? "The dark ages were bad", says who? For what possible reasons besides our own modern concept of quality of life or human decency could we consider them bad? The phrase, part of history, but not of it, springs to mind. Think and examine like you'd do with ants.
And finally 3.(and my most favourite and autistic)
Opposite Day, no seriously, if the board ever does find itself teetering towards a hugbox, then maybe once a week, or at some predetermined time, we all play devils advocate for one day(cont)
mind you, I see no way of enforcing this besides on the honor system, maybe somebody else can think of a creative implementation.
So please, share your thoughts, the future of this wonderful board could depend on it.

I'm not not gonna let click bait win out because of short attention spans, this board belongs to readers, thinkers and people who can focus for more then 30 seconds.
What are some of the funniest stories in all of history?
In my opinion, the Chinese Four Pests Campaign definitely tops the list.
>Mao has everyone in China kill as many sparrows as possible because he thinks they're killing all the crops
>Turns out they were eating the locusts that were killing them
>Locusts get out of control
>Mao tells people to plant their seeds a meter deep to make them grow stronger
>Ten years of famine resulting in the highest ever documented cases of cannibalism
>China buys several train carts filled with sparrows from Russia to alleviate their problem
This is my type of thread fick yeah. Posting some of my favourite stories in a moment
>>52312
I can contribute with funny Mao stories.
>Chairman Mao wants more iron and steel production
>Chairman Mao orders everyone to build a backyard furnace despite practically no one having any experience in metallurgy
>Countryside deforested to fuel campaign, results in such poor quality metal that it cannot be used
Another one:
>Chairman Mao wants to lessen speech restrictions in order to encourage true socialist dialog
>Calls the movement for semi-free speech the "Hundred Flowers"
>Everyone starts denouncing communism
>Jails right-deviationists and bourgeois sympathizers, says that the Hundred Flowers Movement was a ruse to eradicate neo-reactionaries
One of my favorite Chinese ones:
>Qin Shi Huangdi, First Emperor of China, living the good life
>Qin Shi Huangdi wants to become immortal, seeks out the greatest sages on the subject
>He is advised to drink mercury to become immortal
>Qin Shi Huangdi drinks mercury to attain immortality, dies, and is ultimately immortalized as the emperor who drank mercury
>>52539
Don't forget that we literally cannot excavate his tomb because there's a fucking mercury river flowing inside it.
JUST
Shitposting is not good.

A meme is, in the first place, an object outside us, a thing that by its properties satisfies human wants of some sort or another. The nature of such wants, whether, for instance, they spring from the stomach or from fancy, makes no difference. Neither are we here concerned to know how the meme satisfies these wants, whether directly as memes of subsistence, or indirectly as memes of production.
Historical Chub n Tucks
Did he act alone /his/?
Who said he acted at all?
>>52037
It's pretty obvious, not only through evidence but common sense. He definitely had the marksmanship.
How did this happen? How come the Greek cities look like this while Turkish cities look like that? What would have caused for one looking better and being taken care of better than the other? I mean Greece's economy has always been better, always supported from the outside, been in the EU and has lots of money while Turkey has had economic problems the whole time due to hostile neighbours and embargoes and yet Turkey manages to look better than its wealthy neighbour.
looks dont come from wealth. istanbul appears to have a lower hight for most buildings , with religious monuments being the tallest. the athens on the other hand has no variation. this could be one reason for the difference.
>>51715
Athens is pretty nice up-close.
>t.Greek
>>51715
Because Istanbul is an ancient old city that survived and developed through the ages while modern Athens was just built starting during the 19th century
Who was the better general?
The one that wasn't a drunk and a stain on his country's bezel

But this man was pretty good too OP.
>>51564
Pic related was better than them both.
Hey /his/, I'm interested in learning more about the history of Sub-Saharan Africa. I currently know absolutely nothing on this topic, which I think is why I find it so intriguing.
Can you point me to certain time periods or civilizations that I should read about? Are there any that you find particularly interesting?
>Interessted in the only part of the world where they still live in «terre cuite» houses.
They are better choices OP

Did Hitler survive ww2 and move to Argentina?
>>51525
>When discussing history, please reference credible source material
i'm sorry OP, we can't have this thread
No, Hitler did not fucking survive WW2 and move to Argentina you fucking idiot. I committed suicide with a cyanide pill. Don't you even read your textbooks!
Favorite Simpsons gag, /his/? Pic related.
BUENAS NOCHES MEIN FUHRER
