Worked at the National Railroad Museum as a tour guide intern for one summer a few years ago. Enjoyed the experience and I got to tour the place. I wouldn't say its the best one I've been too, I've been to a few museums,

Probably my favorite one was the National World War I Museum and Memorial.

Who really did Halabja? Iran or Iraq? And why was Iran allowed to get away with an act of genocide?

It is well known one of the biggest reasons the Luftflotte lost the BoB was due to the small fuel capacity of the Me 109. The Zeke however had an amazing fuel capacity, as well as a much better turn radius and also the best armament on a single engine fighter of that time. So the scenario I propose to you is: What if Germany had a single squadron of A6M2s during the BoB. Do you think they would have pulled off the BoB despite the valiant and nearly miraculous effort of the RAF pilots in what could only be described as a last ditch desperate defense of their homeland? Or do you think even with the range capabilities and legendary dog fighting prowess of the Zeke that the RAF would still seize the day?

A single squadron is 12 fighters. No, that wouldn't be nearly enough to tip the scales you colossal fucking retard, especially since the objectives necessary to either support a sealion or bomb Britain into submission probably couldn't have been met if the Brits offered no resistance in the air whatsoever.

Basically we aren't sure, these are the prominent theories, and rights will tend to favour one or another based on their own bias and interpertation of Alexander's character

>That he was insincere and a dissembler I shall straightway make clear. The Liberius whom I have just mentioned he dismissed from the office he held and appointed in his place John surnamed Laxarion, an Egyptian by birth. And when Pelagius, who was a very close friend of Liberius, learned of this, he enquired of the Emperor whether the report about Laxarion was true. And he straightway denied the report, insisting that he had not done any such thing, and he put in his hands a letter to Liberius, instructing him to hold on to this office most firmly and by no means to relinquish it. For it was not his will, he said, to remove him from the office at the present time.

>And John had an uncle in Byzantium named Eudaemon, who, having risen to senatorial rank and having acquired great wealth, was for a time administrator of the Emperor's personal estate. This Eudaemon, upon hearing the statements we have mentioned, also enquired of the Emperor whether his nephew's office was secure. Whereupon the Emperor denied what he had written to Liberius and wrote a letter to John instructing him to lay claim to the office with all his might; for, he said, he on his part had not planned any change regarding it.

>And John, having been convinced by these statements, commanded Liberius to retire from his official quarters as having been dismissed from his office. But Liberius refused absolutely to obey him, he also obviously having been led to do so by the Emperor's letters.

>So John armed his followers and proceeded to attack Liberius, while the latter, together with his supporters, prepared for resistance. And a fight took place in which many were killed, including John himself, the holder of the office.

>Liberius was therefore immediately summoned to Byzantium, Eudaemon urging this step vigorously, and the Senate, making a determination of the facts in the case, acquitted the man on the ground that the outrage had occurred while he was not an aggressor, but was acting in self-defence.

>But the Emperor did not drop the matter until he had punished him by a fine of money, imposed secretly.

What the fuck man? What was his fucking problem?

I'm not a fan of William but is it just me or is this the most evil family in English history? They basically fit the "perfidious Anglo" memes.

>Wulfnoth Cild, Godwins father
>King gathers 300 ships to fight Danes
>Accused of unknown crimes
>Steals 20 of the Kings ships to escape
>Those ships are for fighting Danes
>Send 80 ships to catch him and his men who are now raiding the south coast of England
>80 ships get caught in storm
>he burns those that made it to shore
>Surviving ships flee to London and Danes are able to land in Kent
>Probably survives as pirate and Dane ally

>Godwin of Wessex, father of Harold Godwinson
>suck up to now Danish King who your father basically helped invade
>Become Earl of Wessex, the land of the former King of England
>Fight for Dane King in Denmark
>Marry Dane girl who is sister of Dane married to new Kings sister
>Dane king (Cnut) dies
>Promise to help rightful Anglo-Saxon king prince Alfred
>lol jokes capture him and blind him, he dies soon after
>Support new Danish King
>He dies
>Support next Dane King
>He dies too
>Anglo-Saxon King is last option left so support him
>new King hates you for the murder of his brother
>manage to marry your daughter to him anyway
>probably forced because she was crowned queen (not normal for England)
>refuse to punush criminals and try to rally support against King
>King is too kind and exiles you instead of blinding you too
>come back a year later with an army and force him to give you back your land
>"May this crust which I hold in my hand pass through my throat and leave me unharmed to show that I was guiltless of treason towards you, and that I was innocent of your brother's death!"
>die

>Edith of Wessex, daughter of Godwin, sister of Harold
>name is actually Danish (Gytha) but change it when I marry so its more Saxon
>Refuse to sleep with my husband the King so often he becomes known as abstinent/infertile/the confessor
>he even tries to divorce her after exiling her family after throwing her in to a nunnery
>murder northumbrian nobles to have brother appointed earl there

>Tostig -lets not even pretend to be Saxon with our names- Godwinson
>Son of Godwin, brother of Harold
>Become earl of northumbria after a bunch of deaths
>wow they all hate him I wonder why
>murder local nobels to maintain power
>makes it worse
>don't show up to Kings court for meetings
>don't fight raiding scots because hes friends with the scots king
>use Danish mercenaries to enforce law because saxons hate you
>Danes also hate you because you're taxing them too much
>rebels rise up and murder all your supporters
>get exiled
>not even your brother can save you from being this much of a fuck up
>Return to England to attack your own brother once he is King

>Harold Godwinson (Harold also isn't a saxon name its Danish)
>help father invade england after being exiled with him
>throw own brother under Northumbrian bus for support as next King when current one dies
>own so much land in England the King can't act against you
>probably the reason the King doesn't bring his relatives home because you will murder them
>swear oath on sacred relics not to become king
>lol do it anyway (who would even trust them by this point?)

Its now 1066 and William has landed. We know the rest.

Hello, and welcome to. . . The History of Rome.

Mike Duncan put up and almost hour-long HOR episode of him reading the first chapter of his book about the fall of the Roman Republic. It's all about that good ol' tribune Tiberius Gracchus. It made me incredibly excited seeing a new episode pop up and though I'd share if anyone missed it.

>>
Is it really an hour? Or does he spend half the time talking about Harry's high quality German razors?
>>
>>3153077
I'll give it a listen. I want to pre-order the book to support him but the description talking about how it has relevance to our own modern day makes me extremely leery that he'll keep trying to draw modern political parallels which would be an instant turn off for me to actually read. Maybe listening to that episode will put me at ease though.
>>
>>3154082
From the chapter he read, it's more "these are things that happened, these are their consequenses, I'll leave it to you draw any conclusions." it's very old school history of Rome, just longer.

OP, here.

I'm researching for my undergraduate honor's thesis. My topic is how Japanese racial theory was reflected in Manchuria during its 13 years as an "independent" country.

Anyways, I've actually kind of realized I am lacking in the primary source department and was wondering if /his/ had any tips for Japanese newspaper archives that don't have a paywall or other good primary sources to look at in regards to the Japanese in Manchuria. I can read Japanese well so English or Japanese texts are alright.
