Hey /his/, /tg/ here, I need some help with history stuff. I'm playing european muslim convert in 12th century england (in secret of course) in a pseudo-historical game (some details altered, such as pagan gods and christian saints actually doing shit). I'm writing a letter to Saladin introducing myself and seeking his help in setting up trade links with the east and also some support in my secret ambitions of bringing down the feudal system and bringing britain under the rule of a caliphate.
I need some advice on Islamic greetings, titles, figures of speech, letter-writing conventions, etc. How should it be addressed, that sort of thing.
>>265031
wait, are you playing a board game by yourself?
>>265031
>christian saints existing and doing shit
>muslim convert
>in fucking 12th century england
you aren't very bright aren't you?
Just say it with me: How do I contact ISIS from England?
>>265051
Who the fuck cares. Its obviously fantasy.
also
>Muslim converts actually pretty typical
/his/ where is the urheimat of the Japanese?
Where the hell are Japanese and the Japanese language from?
All I know so far is the Jomon were an Ainu-like people who got pushed further and further north by the Yayoi
The Yayoi fought in Chinese style with mass spear infantry, and brought rice cultivation.
From googling, people have said the Yayoi were either Buyeo/Goguryeo Korean, a Vietic tribe who had contact with the Chinese, or a mix of both.
Yayoi are probably pro-chinese sailors from early on before china was established

Bunch of gooks invaded and raped to death a bunch of white-skinned abos. The end result is grorious nippon.
Altaic was popular in the past but I don't much people support is these days
Tell me about the Trojan War /his/.
[nospoilersonhis]And why was Achilles objectively right all along, and Hector a bit of a bastard, not to mention a coward (3 times around the walls)[/nospoilersonhis]
don't think it really happened tbqh
Hector wasnt, a coward. He was a human that actually feared death and finally faced his fear and accepted his fate against achilles.
Meanwhile achilles was a demigod that couldnt get over the fact that Agamemnon stole his waifu and later that his gay lover died.
Hector was way more relate-able and heroic, achilles was just a cursed superhuman with anger issues
>>264511
>And why was Achilles objectively right all along
Then why does he let Agammemnon win the javelin toss, and de facto submits to his authority by the end.
Achilles loses the actual main conflict of the Iliad bro. The war is just a backdrop.
If Christianity and liberalism are the slave morality, is Islam the master morality?
It's the same shit as christianity with more slavery as far as I'm aware.
Islam literally means submission.
>>264476
Islam is a slave morality.
Essential /his/ documentaries and films? Maybe we can get a chart made?

My professor says that the Inca were already collapsing before Pizarro got to America. Is this true or did a few hundred Spaniards really conquer such a huge civilization. Also are the rumors of the Amazon rainforest being manmade true?
Id lie to learn a bit more about the Aztecs fall as well, why was Monteczuma such a kekold?
>>262423
Smallpox raped the Andes a generation before Pizarro showed up
They were having a civil war of succession.

This.
Fucking germs, man.
Had Operation Downfall proceeded, what do you think the results would have been? This is assuming the allies didn't have nukes. The landing invasion would have made Omaha Beach look like a cakewalk. You would have the Soviets too, and the Japanese had their entire population (around 35 million) ready to die for the emperor. It would be complete bloodshed for sure. But I wonder if it would push the Americans to withdraw if it got too bloody? I remember them being pretty drained by '45, and support for the war was wavering. Would have made for some epic movies/video games.
I'd imagine a "race to Berlin" -esque scenario between the Americans and the Soviets.
Japan had already lost, it was just getting them to admit it.
>>262339
Japan knew they lost, they just thought by making the allies walk into a meat grinder they might pull back and offer more preferable surrender terms. Some say it might have worked as the American public was shocked at the causalities at Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

To give you an idea of just how committed the USA was to Operation Downfall:
>Nearly 500,000 Purple Heart medals (awarded for combat casualties) were manufactured in anticipation of the casualties resulting from the invasion of Japan; the number exceeded that of all American military casualties of the 65 years following the end of World War II, including the Korean and Vietnam Wars. In 2003, there were still 120,000 of these Purple Heart medals in stock.[89] There were so many left that combat units in Iraq and Afghanistan were able to keep Purple Hearts on hand for immediate award to soldiers wounded in the field.

By 1945, the US honestly didn't care how many more soldiers they had to send to their deaths as long as Tokyo fell. Similar to the mentality the Soviets had for Germany.
What's the most interesting or significant historical event to take place on your birthday? You can go as far back as you'd like.
December 7th here so mines pretty obvious, the 1941 Japanese led attack on the US naval base at Pearl Harbor. Pic related is the USS Shaw getting btfo.
>Xerox PARC introduces the computer mouse.
JFK was assassinated on my birthday.
April 10th:
One day after surrendering to Grant, Robert E. Lee addresses his men one last time.
The Titanic sets sail on her maiden voyage.
Emilio Zapata is ambushed and killed by government troops.
74 nations agree to halt the production of biological weapons.
The Good Friday Agreement is made.
Can someone please enlighten me as to why Margaret Thatcher is so hated? I always thought it was because she privatized Britain's coal mining industry because the government couldn't afford it anymore, but every time I see people talk about her I always feel like I'm missing something.
She destroyed the middle class
>>262116
She wants people to take responsibility for their own lives.
>>262116
Margret Thatcher the kiddy snatcher, they used to call her.
What did he do wrong?
Satanic Free masonry
besides that?
Nothing.
He has an ugly face
>>262104
manipulated the poors into thinking they were starving?
Compare and contrast these two men. Who was more effective?
Malcolm X was better, but his nignog state would have just collapsed and then whitey would get blamed for it
>>261958
not sure they both seemed to have good ideas but they were also lacking in other areas
wonder what would have happened if they worked together.
>>261958
Everyone knows MLK, and I believe his side of the Civil Rights movement was larger and easier for Blacks, particularly the Southern poor churchgoing crowd, to identify with.
Malcolm X also played a huge part. I don't think it's fair to say he was less effective, rather his ideologies were harder to accept since they were more radical. If we see a duo like this rise today, I think things would be reversed and more people would accept Mr X's stance.
>>262051
I find it highly likely that if they were not murdered, they would have come together for something big.
Can we have a thread about the napoleonic wars?
tactics, politics, technology, battles, books whatever you got, ill take it.
Coalition fags welcome
>>261945
That shit is fucking insane. Why that entire army didn't just turn the fuck around halfway there is beyond me
Why was dueling outlawed? Was it due to a decline in Men caring about their honor or something else altogether?
>>261441
>muh honor
>>261441
Its not outlawed in some places. In others it was because too many people were killing each other and just claiming it was a duel causing alot of social unrest when no legal action was taken.
>>261457
didn't they have people watching for duel usually? i doubt you could just shoot a guy and call it a day
Is there any real value in Stirner's work? Or is he just a meme philosopher?
How isn't it of value?
>>259135
You do know he didn't write too much so you could probably just go read his works and find out for yourself
http://theanarchistlibrary.org/category/author/max-stirner
He wasn't very valueable. I don't really know anyoen who has argued that property and society at large AREN'T social constructs ("spooks"), so it is just stating the obvious. I guess he didn't comprehend the social contract though.
His philosophy was 'valuable' in the sense that it exposes the flaws of morality and the is-ought gap - In other words, someone can just reject the social contract and do whatever he wants, and there is nothing you can do to convince him otherwise.
That said he reminded me of that one teenager who shot up a school here and then took his life, he left a suicide letter where he had similar egotist-anarchist ideas.
Question, /his/. Is there the board for people with an interest in numismatics? Looking over the list of boards, none really fits but this strikes me as the closest thing, since an interest in history is pretty much mandatory for numismatics. Every classic coin and currency bill has some kind of history behind it and relates in some way to American history.
If not, please point me in the right direction.
Pic related. It's my favorite coin to collect.
whats your most peculiar and unusual and rare coin op
we do occasionally have coin/historical artifact threads
