What was life like for hispanic Americans in the pre-civil rights era? I always hear about the struggles of the blacks, but I never hear anything about hispanics.
At first I thought it was because hispanic immigration to the USA was a recent phenomenon, but according to LA Noire, the USA already had a sizable hispanic population during WW2.

>The Crusaders looted, terrorized, and vandalized Constantinople for three days, during which many ancient and medieval Roman and Greek works were either stolen or destroyed. The famous bronze horses from the Hippodrome were sent back to adorn the façade of St Mark's Basilica in Venice, where they remain. As well as being stolen, works of immeasurable artistic value were destroyed merely for their material value. One of the most precious works to suffer such a fate was a large bronze statue of Hercules, created by the legendary Lysippos, court sculptor of Alexander the Great. Like so many other priceless artworks made of bronze, the statue was melted down for its content by the Crusaders. The great Library of Constantinople was destroyed as well.

>Despite their oaths and the threat of excommunication, the Crusaders systematically violated the city's holy sanctuaries, destroying or stealing all they could lay hands on; nothing was spared, not even the tombs of the emperors inside the St Apostles church. The civilian population of Constantinople were subject to the Crusaders' ruthless lust for spoils and glory; thousands of them were killed in cold blood. Women, even nuns, were raped by the Crusader army,[ which also sacked churches, monasteries and convents. The very altars of these churches were smashed and torn to pieces for their gold and marble by the warriors. Although the Venetians engaged in looting too, their actions were far more restrained.[citation needed] Doge Dandolo still appeared to have far more control over his men. Rather than wantonly destroying all around like their comrades, the Venetians stole religious relics and works of art, which they would later take to Venice to adorn their own churches.

The more I learn about the world and experience life the more bitter, misanthropic, nihilistic, and hopeless I feel

Is this simply the human condition?

Would Germany's NSDAP be considered fascist if Hitler never allied with Mussolini? Does the term fascism really fit as an umbrella term for all those right-wing and third-position parties, or is there too much of an ideological difference between them to fit under a single umbrella term? Did 'the Fatherland front' of Austria, Hitlerism, Strasserism, and Italian fascism really fit together?

In the Hearts of Iron series, the world is divided into 3 ideologies (plus a "neutral" ideology), where fascism is broadly defined (Japan is included as fascist), and it seems to be the way people use the term mostly, as a broad term that doesn't go into specifics.

But It seems to me that in an alternate reality were the 30s had gone in a different direction there could have been enough of a divide for Hitlerism to not be considered at all the same thing as Italian fascism, and for the two to have been serious rivals. Same thing with right-wing catholic groups. And Strasserism being considered communists, etc.

No and no. Benedictines were the origin of what could be considered "work ethic" from a Christian standpoint, protestant work ethic was just Benedictine work ethic, and both are long since dead in the west unless you are Amish/Mennonite or are literally at a Benedictine monastery.

Whomst was in the wrong here?

Not a scholar of Homer or anything, but...

The gods initially put humans into that position. So I guess you could blame Eris and Zeus for putting Paris in that situation, and then Aphrodite for drawing in Helen.

Then, Paris and Helen are at fault.

Then, Priam is at fault because he should have exercised his authority to resolve the issue.

also it would not be wrong to execute you for typing out the word "whomst"

Can relate with city acts and so on, one of my modules last year dealt with legislation in the 20th Century UK, it's probably the only time i've struggled academically out of sheer disinterest.

What resources would you recommend to learn more about the influence of religion on Japanese society and culture? I've heard that much of Japan's uniqueness in art, aesthetics, and so on is due to its fusion of Shinto and Zen Buddhism, and I'd like to learn more.

So I remember a while ago hearing about this plan Stalin had for the post war years where he would get some part of Germany that would basically cripple German industry forever and none of the other allies liked it obviously, except FDR started to agree with it because someone in his cabinet said it was a good idea. And it turns out, this guy was a full fledged soviet spy and traitor. Anyone know what Im talking about?

>Peloponnesian war
Its like all the key aspects and themes of International Relations seen with modern historical events like the cold war but in bite size chunks.
>Napoleonic wars
Highlights the importance and differences between Strategy and Tactics as well as featuring a clash of ideologies.
>Boxer Rebellion
Gang rape of the Chinese that ends in a block buster style race to the capital to free held up Christians, featuring sneaky Russians, heroic Yanks, and which is then won by the British in a sort of curtain call before the 20th century goes to shit
>Cold war
Adds the dynamic of having a Bi-polar world but with the two super powers with the stipulation of being unable to attack each other due to MAD which leads to all sorts of underhanded and cheeky behavior
>WW2
The grand daddy of wars (sure its over studied but only because its the fucking paragon of military history). Over the top villains, enemy of my enemy is my friend memes, dashing raids and espionage, 3 way of ideological tension, a half time where by it looks like one side will win only for the comeback of the century, awesome strategic and tactical maneuvers and mistakes, battles that end with more casualty's than some countries have populations, tank and air battles that look like a 10 year old who got the biggest toy set for Christmas set up, with more theaters than Broadway, ending with one bad guy changing sides, one getting absolutely annihilated, and one getting two fucking bombs dropped on it almost as if the author of history just didn't give a fuck any more and wanted to wrap this bad boy up.
