was stalin really evil or just a meme, i dont get it.
i mean he won ww2 industrialized and stabilized the soviet union, some times the price you pay you pay with bodybags

His economic progress is actually pretty unimpressive compared to what democratic countries like Japan and Singapore managed to pull off.

And he's the reason so many Russians died in WW2. He let Hitler mass three million troops on the Russian border and actually believed Hitler when he said it was for an invasion of Britain.

That after killing two thirds of his general staff.
>>
who needs stable economics anyway

Yes, commies estabilished succesful education (tsarist russia was super backwards, most of people couldn't read before revolution) and industrialized country. But they were incompetent and inefficient as fuck, especially Stalin who would purge thousands of officers over his paranoia what would ultimately lead to humiliation against Finland and extreme loses in war against Germany among other things. Dont believe memers who claim that hurr durr it was necessary to kill insane amount of civilians in order to have a chance against Germany.
And the reason why he isn't as blackened as Hitler is simple. He won.

Why do some Christians believe that Jesus was divine although he never stated as such nor insinuated?

I have many conversations with Christians and this always seems to be their core belief. That worshipping Jesus will be their way to Heaven and their protection from Hell. Although Jesus never stated this?

Apparently, this was a consequence of the First Council of Nicaragua (300 years after Jesus dies). Emperor Constantine wanted a single, universal doctrine that he could impose by imperial fiat, so he called together most of the church leaders of the day (some were notably not invited) and ordered them to hash it out. One of the outcomes of that council was the decision that Jesus was also God.
>>

>Nicaragua

Meant Nicaea. Damn autocomplete.
>>
>>518892
This is because most Christians get this belief in the trinity from the Nicean Councel, held in 325 A.D. Emperor Costantine, a known sun-god worshiper and pagan, made the final decision in the debate where only a minority of people in the council believed Jesus was God. This teaching was later enforced violently, with opposers being put to death. Triune gods were popular in ancient Egypt and Rome and many of the idols used by Christendom today such as the cross and mother and baby statues also originated from this and future councils, as well as holidays such as Easter and Christmas which blended false teachings about Jesus with pagan customs in order to convert pagans to Christianity. Constantine wanted to convert his fellow pagans to the early Catholic church because he supposedly saw a "cross" in the sky and it helped him win a battle.

What would the world look like if WW2 had never happened, would European empires still exist, how would've the Soviet Union move on with the 5 year plans, would the US kickstart itself into the superpower position it is in today?

Do we include the Sino-Japanese War in the Second World War?
If the Second Sino-Japanese War didn't happen, it's possible Japan would transition back into Taisho democracy.
If the Second Sino-Japanese War still happens, Japan and the US will likely clash eventually.

The United States had no right to declare independence.
Every other independence movement in history was spurred by deep repression, marginalization of the subject people by the ruling power that was no longer tolerable even by the most conservative forces in society.

Take Ireland: suffered hundreds of years of colonial brutality.
India: much the same story.

What was America's excuse for revolting? Britain marginally increased tax rates on a set of luxury goods in order to offset the enormous financial cost of the Seven Years War, a war fought to protect Americans from French imperial expansion, and paid for entirely by British taxpayers.

America stands as a mockery to all RIGHTFUL independence movements.

Does anyone know any good books on Japan from the Meiji restoration up to the 1930s, with a major focus on the political history, how did the dynamic of political control change throughout that period, with the military holding a huge degree of power over the nation by the 1930s, something that seems to have been questioned very little.

Feel free to request anything you're interested in too

So I want few short questions I wanna ask about Nazis:

>We know that Nazis were NOT a Christian group, hell, they loved multiple cultures. So, what's with them and anti-semitism?

>Judaism is a religion. So, what's with them and anti-racial part? Why would they hate Jews, even if Jews were basically converted Aryans(I think)?

>And what's with them and Jehovah Witness?

>Nazis believed that the stars are made up of ice. How the fuck did they get their own scientists, then? How did they motivated them to work for their cause?

Cosmic ice was German's idea of redpilling. It's true because it subverts what you hate.
>>
>>518247

Many jews where advocators for communism, which was the main enemy of the Nazis.

Many jews had very influential positions in the media, banking, entertainment (similar as in the US right now) and where advocators of other things than communism that was hated by the Nazis such as modernist art and architecture, and sexual perversions (transsexuality, (child-)prostitution, bdsm).

Jews ethnically differ from native Germans for the most part (heavy genetical influences from Eastern Europe and the Middle East). Even though interbreeding with Germans did happen, they stayed pretty close to each other.

Jews place their loyalty towards each other above the country and its people they live in (according to the Nazis at least), and have no moral objections to exploiting this people.

Jews where very international because of this jew-loyalty and not having a home country, and where accused of orchestrating the enslavement of other peoples on an international level with their powerful positions (through banking, media, and communism in the East).

>And what's with them and Jehovah Witness?
I don't know? What's with them?
>Nazis believed that the stars are made up of ice.

How did Christianity become the dominant, official religion of the Roman Empire over the course of the fourth century?
13 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
The philosophy of the Hellenic and Roman world was focused on finding some form of "salvation" and ultimate answer. Stoic and Neo-Platonist philosophy are surprisingly close to Christian doctrine in a lot of places. This compatibility and continuation of Christian thought with Greek philosophy gave it a lot of legitimacy. A lot of early converts to the religion were followers of platonism, look at Augustine's influence for the most influential example.

Constantine's conversion is also extremely important, of course, and a lot of people probably converted because it became orthodox.
>>
>>517676
Thank you for the thoughtful response.
>>
>>517676
Even Constantine only converted because it gave him a very powerful base of support. Christianity was quite widespread already by his time, but yeah, his conversion didn't hurt.

Has the Catholic Church fixed all the valid criticisms of the Reformation? The Church Post-Trent is quite a different entity. Obviously they can't accept Protestant theology which goes against all early church teachings, but "muh indulgence", "muh bible translations" and similar shit is irrelevant now.
