Could not compete against the free market system.
>>
>>531885
Of course, communism isn't made to compete. It's like comparing grenades to houses.

Example:

War is bad for the people, but good for the economy (capitalist). So when there are wars (or proxy wars), capitalism (for the economy) will always profit and communism (for the people) will suffer. And because it's easier to start wars, capitalism will reenforce nationalism and radicals, leading to war and capitalism coming out "more successful".

Resources wasted on war, are resources that could be put into education, health system, science and agriculture (etc.). All of these things are good for life, war is not. But the artificial concept of nationalism blinds people, and leads them to reevaluate their "priorities".

Currently the west is the best (economically speaking), but if that changes, we will be the ones that suffer and slave for others. Then We won't be saying that capitalism is the best, but we won't have to power and position to say anything at all either.

But yeah, as long as we have gigantic shopping centered and other mass consumerists distractions, we do have a fantastic life. Woo Mc Donalds!

Oh boy, propaganda memes.

Not only is this is this obviously historically incorrect, it doesn't even hold up to rudimentary analysis. China is stronger than ever. Cuba, the conservative stalwart is still chugging along. North Korea is probably the worst off economically but that clearly is not stopping it. The USSR at its end was one of the most liberal of the Soviet style countries.

>"How did a small backwater nation at the end of the Roman empire manage to affect the entire world on such a massive level?"

We all know the answer to that. There is no religion quite like Christianity and Judaism. While at the same time other religions were demanding their followers to sacrifice their children and worship fire and use magic to protect you from evil spirits. But Christianity and Judaism were teaching about virtues, charity, love, faith, the things which ease suffering and make communities strong. And what are left with today? Our history as Europeans is so intertwined with the legends of the Judaic faith that it has affected our culture, language, justice system, even our very thought process. Everything of profit and value we have today we owe to Christianity.

How in the face of this grand event spanning thousands of years can the world deny the existence of God and his son Jesus Christ?

I'll agree but we should say that we owe it to greek and christian philosophy both, they have been intertwined from the beginning.

I like how you started off with Christainity and Judaism and then switched straight off to Christainity, while posting a picture of a mosque. Also, skipping over enormous intellectual, military, political, etc. events and just chalking it up to 'Christainity' while demonstrating nothing of the sort.

4/10 personally enjoyed, despite knowing it was stupid.

Were muslims and christians breaking even in the high middle ages ?

Not even close. Your pictures is also misleading considering the Muslim building is 700 years older than its Christian counterpart.

Islam being a system of governance quickly expanded and united lands that had been some of the richest in the Roman Empire (east and west) and the entire area of the sassanid empire. They simply had a better infrastructure at their disposal.

Yes, Christians took over the lead by late 1100s. Afterwards, there was a transmission of inventions from Europe into the middle east, not the other way around.

>not being an agnostic

What's your excuse, /his/? Atheists have no way of knowing that their absolutely is no deity, and theists have no way of knowing that a deity absolutely does exists.

Therefore, the only logical way to be is an agnostic. It's the only honest way.

If there is a God, then agnosticism is fake.

If there is no God, then agnosticism is fake.

One is true, the other isn't.

Therefore agnosticism is fake.

>mfw agnostic about agnosticism

Does that make one an agnostic agnostic?

>agnosticism isn't real

Is there any evidence supporting atheism?

No?

Then neither can be stated to be true.

Why did Stalin give the Armenian region of Nagarno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan?

Same reason Tajikistan's borders are fucked. Divide and conquer. Also Russia's economy was down the shitter in the 90s while its army was occupied fighting Chechens.
>>
>>531779
>its army was occupied fighting Chechens
And Moldovans.
And Georgians.
And Tajiks.

Armenians and Azeris just took care of the fighting part themselves, so Russia now supports the weaker side in order to make the region permanently fucked.

Armenia is basically encircled by enemies with zero perspectives but Azerbaijan can't resolve conflict with Russia backing Armenia.

>watch some stanford biology lecture
>prof tells story about a herd of wilderbeasts that perform a group behavior to sacrifice a weak old member so the herd can escape danger, crocodiles or whatever
>prof points out how the old dude got pushed out by the rest of the herd meaning it is not individual altruistic behavior
>prof claims this is not 'group selection' as that means altruistic behavior 'for the good of the species'
>prof says animals never behave this way and so there is no such thing as 'group selection'

so just, lets summarise

>a group of animals finds itself in a dangerous situation
>the group of animals selects one individual to sacrifice
>the group performs a form of colective behavior effectively sacrificing the individual(the whole herd cooperates in pushing him out)
>helps the group escape to safety so obviously, logicaly is 'for the good of the species'

>this is not literaly a blatant example of 'group selection'

what?

what are you on about?

Why were Christianity, Islam, Buddhism successful as major religions? Why is the vast majority of Europe Christian and not Norse/Roman/Celtic, for example?

On a similar note, why has Hinduism remained so strong as a religion?

>Why is the vast majority of Europe Christian and not Norse/Roman/Celtic, for example?
A mixture of wanting access to the christian mediterranean wealth, forced conversions, and asshole pagan gods being unappealing to one who directly loves everybody with no need for blood and suffering

>why has Hinduism remained so strong as a religion?
Hinduism can absorb anything and still be Hinduism

Good theological frameworks supporting them, large canons of texts etc.

Julian the Apostate was trying to fit Roman Paganism into a neo-platonist framework -- shame he died before it could be finalised.

Why France had so much influence in the middle ages ? The Capetians were one of the strongest dynasty in Europe and managed to put their relatives on the thone of Hungary, Portugal, Sicily. But it's not just the royal family, the university of Paris was the most important, and Paris itself was the biggest town in medieval Europe. Gothic architecture was created in France, the crusades were mostly french, the Normans who invaded England culturally french, the duchy of Burgundy became one of the most important in Europe. Even the pope was defeated and then they stayed in Avignon.

What can explain this influence over all Europe ?

So what happened to Italy and muh Byzantines?
>>
>>531269
Well Byzantine was the top dog for long before France, until it fell to different religion. And well Italian towns (Venice, Florence, Milan) were really powerful, but because nobody managed to unite these city states (because they were so powerful, nobody wanted to succumb under rule of anyone else) they eventually lost the quantity>quality war.

Historians don't work that way mate. History has existed since the early 19th century with works like Ranke. Given the history of ideas there are two outcomes: either history fades as an intellectual fad, or it transmogrifies into something we cannot expect to know.

I am looking for /his/ sources on something that matches the following requirements:
>Female historical figures (or groups)
>Pagan rites, religion, theology
>Possibly late 14th, early 15th century, when the Christianization of Europe was almost completed
>Germany or Eastern Europe.

In other words, I was wondering if there is any source of pagan practices linked to the "females" of which we have notice.

Hey man... you forget witch hunting... and there have been pagan rites in southern Italy as far as 20th Century (see, e.g. Ernesto de Martino's ethnography on the subject matter).

Wizardry, witch-hunt was a thing... it was part of christianization.

I believe a lot of pagan practices survived for a long time in Europe. I am sure some of you have done research on the subject.
