Let's say a "time travel" machine is invented. We figure out how to travel through time and space, but instead of the way it's normally portrayed in fiction it teleports you into a parallel reality that is an exact copy of Earth at any time period you wish, where history plays out exactly as it actually did back then. This way there's no chance of you fucking up the world by doing anything.
You can understand any languages spoken. You have the ability to talk to people normally and walk around, or you can become invisible and completely silent, and sneak into the Roman Emperor's palace or into Hitler's bunker, anywhere you want. You have the ability to travel around the world at incredible speeds to visit the other side of the world a few hours after you land in one part of the world.
What would you do? Where would you go, and who would you talk to?
If I only had one travel opportunity, I would spend a couple decades observing the Gallic Wars and Roman society before and afterwards. Since I could travel ultra-fast, I'd make sure to spend some time hitting all the major cultures of the period, like Illyria, Greece, Dacia, Parthian-occupied Persia, and the Sarmatians and the Scandinavian tribes.
I'd read voraciously in the Library of Alexandria, sneak into the aristocratic villas and palaces of Rome, and tour Chang'an. I'd have fun running around with some bumfuck backwater steppe tribe out in the Altai Mountains, and maybe even stop over to the Eastern US to see how my Eastern Woodlands Indian bros are doing.

Please anon, that's gross.
Any knowledgable /his/torians that can share some interesting facts about his regime or for that matter of his personal life?
I'd like to discuss the amount of brainwashing he did to his people without mass media.
Since the fucker went full rural how did he keep up with the act of ascending himself to godhood ala Kim Jong-IL without newspapers and television?

Didn't he kill people just because they wore glasses? Or was that Mao?
Pol calling the Pot black

He killed people for displaying emotions...
Since I'm pretty sure religion is under humanities, what can you tell me about Buddhism, /his/?
I'm exploring religion and spirituality and it was one of the religions I was curious about
Pic unrelated
It's a meme religion that's heavily romanticised by Western orientalists and practiced in unrecognisable and redundant forms here
best thing about buddhism are those martial monks in chinkland. shits legit.
>>542900
Pretty much that unenlightened life is suffering and there is a way to end suffering.
Then from enlightenment nirvana, after the effects of one's karma are complete they "attain" but there is no attainment in Buddhism.
Some Buddhists are strictly renounced in accordance to Gautama's teachings and others live a life where they bring enlightenment to others.
It is controversial when Buddhist and deities and God mix together, but the bottom line of Buddhism is the heart of its teaching.
No matter what faith you are or arent, Buddhism can help fix the situation of a problematic lifestyle

Hadrian's wall is better

Hadrian's Wall isn't what you think it is. It was little more than a glorified border crossing. Britons from north of the wall would cross it every day to trade with the local auxiliary garrisons.
What do you think about the Islamic Empire ?
>>542412
I don't think about the Islamic Empire.
I think it's pretty cool and I'm looking forward to living in it.

What do you think about the german Sonderweg theory? (represantative historians: Winkler, Dahrendorf, Wehler)
It states that Germany, unlike other Western countries, was successfully industrialized, but was still ruled by absolutistic rulers (German Empire), which caused German foreign politics to be ruthless and is a cause for the Great war. This also lead to anti-democratic tendencies in the Weimer republic, which was then replaced by Nazi-Germany.
Discuss and share your thoughts
Every country has their own Sonderweg. It's a useless concept.
>>542436
This. It snowflakes Germany by generalising every other country. It achieves nothing.
>>542436
>>542444
Thats a common and valid argument against this theory.
However the thing which seperates Germany from the UK, France and the US is the astonishing success of industrialization which happened in a socially backward country. In coutries with comparable systems like Russia, industrialization wasnt even remotely successful.
How much east African heritage do African Americans have, or are they exclusively of west African and European descent?
Some not insignificant number of slaves to the New World came from Mozambique, but I don't know how many of them ended up in the modern US.

Because being is ultimately more satisfying than not being.

Satisfaction is in the bourgeois concept that met us at the dawning of the Universe?
Where does your satisfaction exist?
What is the most perfect and enduring legal document in human history and why is it the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights?
>>542343
"Some men look at constitutions with sanctimonious reverence and deem them like the ark of the covenant, too sacred to be touched. They ascribe to the men of the preceding age a wisdom more than human and suppose what they did to be beyond amendment. I knew that age well; I belonged to it and labored with it. It deserved well of its country. It was very like the present but without the experience of the present; and forty years of experience in government is worth a century of book-reading; and this they would say themselves were they to rise from the dead."

Why is Pinochet so vilified when his regime was relatively undeadly compared to 95% of Marxist regimes? Is the Left just a propaganda mill or was he actually that bad? And what's this I keep hearing about helicopters?
>>542284
You have already made this thread.
So i guess that you only want to remake your circlejerk?
>>542289
I didn't make that thread, and I didn't read it when it was up.
Pinochet is more significant in the West because he would not have come to power without American help. This is considered a betrayal of the United States' self-declared values.
Pinochet is associated with helicopters because during his rule murdered political dissidents would be thrown from helicopters into the ocean or Chile's lakes and rivers.
However, this is somewhat of a meme; only a small fraction of Pinochet's victims were actually killed in this manner; the Process in Argentina killed significantly more this way.
Hey guys I ended up in a sticky situation with a time machine. What's the easiest way to kill a viking pls m8s. Dubs decides what I do with their ship if I win.
>>542169
>What's the easiest way to kill a viking pls m8s.
a single viking? Gather a small army of around 100 people and equip them with the finest weapons and armor you can find, you may stand a chance. If you're trying to kill a viking beserker then you're going to have a really bad time and you may need 400-600 men.

Ask them to read a book.
Apparently nudity and Stone Age weapons

How would the world look like without Christianity? Would it truly be a better place? I'm an atheist but I'm not so sure about it on one hand yeah Christianity did plenty of bad things but so did pagan religions let's not pretend human sacrifice wasn't a thing and that christianity didn't abolish plenty of fucked up practices then again some other religion or philosophy would propably do it as well. To think about it let's say Christianity never existed and some other religion would become a dominant one in Europe do you think it would abuse it's power? Were middle ages avoidable? It seems like WWII and Hitler - if Hitler didn't exist someone else would start WWII anyway.
>>541945
>Were middle ages avoidable
No, snowniggers would have snownigged anyway.
>>541945
>Were middle ages avoidable?
Why would you want to avoid Gothic architecture, stained glass, musical notation, and spectacles?
Oh right, it's cause you're a stupid pleb.
>>541945
The fall of Rome would probably have a harder effect on Europe when warlords have less religious unity or and pagan religions that encouraged warfare.
Zoroastrianism would be the main monotheistic religion, unless Islam still rises without Christian influence which is certainly possible if Jews still exist.
If Islam still forms Europe is fucked.
