How come in Chinese culture, viziers were regarded as wise and honorable, whereas in European culture they were stereotyped as sneaky lehappymerchant.pngs? I mean, look at the how advisers are portrayed in Western works:
>Wormtongue
>Jafar
>that old lady in the Emperor's new Groove
Was this caused by Western advisers being less qualified or is it propaganda?
What source are you basing that off of, to say that Chinese advisers were revered? And during what specific time in history? Plenty of Chinese emperors have been very distrustful of their advisers, most of all the eunuchs.
>>945188
didn't Confucianism codify the respect to all public servants, as long as they fulfill their roles? almost every wuxia movie is about trying to bring down an officer without looking like they're rebelling against the Emperor
>>945188
I just got that impression from how Chinese people take test-taking very seriously, as a holdover from Imperial days when the bureaucrat exam was basically a way for non-nobles or non-powerful nobles to rise in social status. They thought being a bureaucrat was the most bitchin' thing you could be if you weren't born into power, whereas in the West people wanted to be priests/bishops to get power. I don't know that much about China but that's the impression I got from reading Fukuyama's book 'The origins of political power.'
Whoa whoa whoa hold on a moment, why do they call it the "Holy Roman Empire" when it's: 1. not Holy 2. not Roman, and 3. not an Empire?
BECAUSE IT WAS THE SPRITUAL SUCCESSOR TO THE ROMAN EMPIRE AND YES IT WAS ROMAN THE HRE LITERALLY HELD POWER OVER ROME FOR OVER 1000 YEARS AND YES IT WAS HOLY BECAUSE THEY WERE CHRISTIANS AND IT WAS A FUCKING EMPIRE IT WAS I JUST KNOW IT REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH STOP POSTING PICTURES OF THAT STUPID AND IANNOYING FRENCHIE IJRSGOTHYENJ

What are the metaphysical implications of internet memes?
Plato was right about everything
>>944758
Would it be accurate to associate Pepe with the Dionysian and Wojak with the Apollonian?
What is your favourite rump state and why /his/?
For me it's the Domain of Soissons, a Roman kingdom centred on northern Gaul that survived even the fall of the final western Roman emperor in 476 until it was conquered by the Franks under Clovis. If it had managed to hold out it may have engendered a Roman reconquest of Britain (the Britons had fear of a cross-channel invasion) or maybe even restoring wider control, but alas.
>A rump state is the remnant of a once-larger state, left with a reduced territory in the wake of secession, annexation, irredentism, occupation, decolonization, or a successful coup d’état or revolution on part of its former territory
The Argentine Nazis
Mine would be the british empire
Soissons would never have done shit
According to special relativity, if two objects A and B are many lightyears apart, and A starts moving towards B, for object A, the "present" is object B's "future."
What implications does relativity have with regards to determinism? Does the future already "exist"?
>>944014
>Does the future already "exist"
Yes.
>>944026
'Kay. Is determinism true then?
>>944029
Yes.
If heaven and hell is real, is theocracy the only moral form of government? I mean, if people will go to hell unless they believe in Jesus, than those in power should do everything to save them, convert as many people as possible.
For example, if there is a new drug on the market that's both super addictive and damaging to your health, and more and more people are getting hooked on it, ruining their lives, I would expect the government to start some kind of program to keep people away from it and get addicts off that shit. Even though I'm pretty libertarian, I would consider them a shitty and immoral government if they just let all this happen.
If Christianity is true, sin and unbelief have even much more dire consequences than that hypothetical drug. Wouldn't it also be the responsibility of any government to do everything to save people from such consequences, meaning: to promote Christianity with all their power?
In the middle ages, this was the accepted viewpoint: the main task of a king was to protect and help the church, leading his subjects to salvation.
>>943997
Moot point since Christianity isn't true.
>>943997
Technically the Catholic church still officially supports Monarchy as the proper form of government with a Catholic monarch at the head. Although you can't really legislate belief into a person. Only conformity with ritual at most
So what exactly is the end goal of Anarchism? What does the Anarchist plan to accomplish?
I want to become a feudal warlord but the establishment has created an environment too peaceful and orderly for me to accomplish my goals.
Isn't "anarchists" just what empires called nationalists back in the day to make them sound nefarious?
>>943585
Nothing, as a anarchist-primitivist I just refuse to partake in the modern society as whole.
What was Caesars ultimate goal? Was it to build a better new Rome or was he just power hungry?
>What I got
>Maize
Wew.
I'm absolutely laughing my ass off at the absurdity of this image. Anyone with even the faintest knowledge of history would know that the "corn" that Caesar speaks of in Commentaries On The Gallic War is not the corn that we in the west are familiar with, but is rather a poor translation for the word "grain" which in Latin is "Frumentum"
Myself and many others who have read the commentaries would know what you're trying to refer to with your image but it's wrong. Unless of course you were already aware of this and you are posting this ironically. In which case I commend you for your post but it's still blatantly wrong. I would have gone with a collage of images of wheat instead.

Dude, thats the joke.
ITT: France getting humiliated in wars/battles.
Man I'm so fucking tired of being alive
Every single action, thought & emotion is worthless and will be forgotten by the time I'm dead
And satisfying my own needs doesn't lead to happiness but to delaying a death that's going to happen either way
How the fuck do people manage to keep doing this?
On another note, recommend me books about everything being in vain. I like Ecclesiastes.
There are ways to immortalize yourself beyond the gates of cause and effect anon, you just haven't found them yet.
>>943040
only people whose life counts are people whose actions have mattered and impacted other people
besides being a particularly successful or shitty leader, a pop idol, or having a lot of money and using it for the good of the world, there's no way to make one's life matter at all
only other way to make one's life matter to at least oneself is to be a narcissic
>>943051
Has anyone ever told you you're very shortsighted?
Listen up kiddo, those who aim for renown and status will have their chains of action nulled down the line. Artists who build a masterpiece and leave themselves anonymous will forever hold credit for that masterpiece. The system is a lot more complicated than you think, infinitely so.
Prove me reality exista...

>what if like, everything was like, inside of my head, man.....
>yeah haha what if... like.. nothing is real... it's all in my head... hehehe... you're in my head... that guy on 4chan who told me i was a fucking retard? in my head.... my head? in my head.... hehhhehh u can't prove nufin
>>942859
I can't.
But it's irrelevant, because even if reality is just in my head, there is no known way to exit it and getting to know what is beyond.

I know they attempted to argue Jesus wasn't a Jew. What else?
Depends on which nazis you mean. They wasn't an uniform belief you know, it varies from person to person.
Himmler in particular was literally WEWUZ tier moron who believed ancient Egyptian and Mayan civilizations were built by Aryans and even sent an expedition to Tibet to prove that Tibetans are actually Aryan.
He wasn't a Jew, he was a Judean.
>>942368
He was from the tribe of Judah, therefore he was a Jew. If you believe the Bible it literally pushes Davidic descent as well.
