Who contributed most to defeating Napoleon?

OP I think you are still giving easy fodder for /int/ shitposting in how you've worded the OP. Topics around the Napoleonic Wars are particularly at risk of /int/-tier nationalistic and anti-nationalist oversimplification and fabrication of details around events.

>Who contributed most to defeating Napoleon?
The playing fields of Eton

There's a breathless hush in the Close to-night --
Ten to make and the match to win --
A bumping pitch and a blinding light,
An hour to play and the last man in.
And it's not for the sake of a ribboned coat,
Or the selfish hope of a season's fame,
But his Captain's hand on his shoulder smote --
'Play up! play up! and play the game!'

The sand of the desert is sodden red, --
Red with the wreck of a square that broke; --
The Gatling's jammed and the Colonel dead,
And the regiment blind with dust and smoke.
The river of death has brimmed his banks,
And England's far, and Honour a name,
But the voice of a schoolboy rallies the ranks:
'Play up! play up! and play the game!'

This is the word that year by year,
While in her place the School is set,
Every one of her sons must hear,
And none that hears it dare forget.
This they all with a joyful mind
Bear through life like a torch in flame,
And falling fling to the host behind --
'Play up! play up! and play the game!'

eh, those have been around since before gladiator fights. the only reason Gladiator fights were a thing, iirc, that they fights were originally a part of the ceremony when during a funeral or something. then they lost that significance and became the entertainment spectacles of the Roman world.

To answer the question, it'd probably end up being some kind of human rights violations to force two people to hack and slash at each other.

Post the most meme politician you can find.

Why does the Old Testament have laws for divorce but not for marriage?

I tried asking my pastor, but all he said was

>God, in His mercy, creates the cure before the disease

Which just confused me more. Help pls

Marriage traditions were already established in Eden, it was already hammered out, divorce was still a messy process for us then, so God had to clear it up, that or it was an issue then so he decided to create clear cut laws,
>>
>>988111
Jesus addressed this when He spoke of divorce.

Matthew 19
“Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

That's marriage.

Leave, then cleave.

Childbirth doesn't feel good, but we still do it.
>>
When you feel good after doing something is because is normally healthy for your body, and when humanity evolved it evolved so we would do things that are healthy and these thing would become satisfactory for us, so we would do them more, that's why you feel good after eating or doing sports.
The other things that make you feel good are the ones that make sure you reproduce.
As you see, everything is evolution.

I want to read about the follow up to WW1. When were the earliest seeds planted?
15 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Its too hard to say where the earliest seeds were planted, because by that logic they were planted when Luther started his religion. In the short term, Bismarck throwing off the balance of power set into motion the process which led to conflict. While he was a very good leader, he created a complex system of relations that were only able to be maintained by himself. The biggest cause for the war, in my opinion, is Wilhelm's autism. He's the one who started the arms race with Britain and made colonial aggressions at France, forcing the two nations to ally with each other. Additionally, he let Russia go off and join the entente, while trusting that Italy would hold up to their promise and support Germany and that the meme empire would be an effective ally.

History is all one big story. It's hard to tell when the first seeds were planted.

Napoleon would be a good place to start. His wars got everyone all riled up and hating eachother for a while.

The franco-prussian war certainly helped lead to animosity between france and germany.

as
>>987097
said, bismarks system could only be held in place by a very gifted administrator (which never came along).

Shit tier alliance system didn't help.

The biggest issue was tactical. All of these new weapons (barbed wire, machine guns, artillery) had been invented, but no war had really used them yet. Nobody realized that you couldn't just march in formation anymore, you'd all get mowed down by ropes of machine gun fire.

The inability to seek diplomatic resolution due to pride is the nail in the coffin. These royals couldn't lose face and try to find peace. An idiotic war for no good reason basically destroyed europe. Everything had to be rebuilt over some assholes in serbia. Fucking retarded.

the follow up to ww1 would be the interwar era and ww2

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linguistic_purism_in_English

http://anglish.wikia.com/wiki/Main_leaf

Linguistic purism in the English language is the belief that words of native origin should be used instead of foreign-derived ones (which are mainly Latinate and Greek). "Native" (inborn) can mean "Anglo-Saxon" (Engelsaxish) or it can be widened to include all Germanic (Theedish) words. In its mild form, it merely means using existing native words instead of foreign-derived ones (such as using begin instead of commence). In its more extreme form, it involves reviving native words that are no longer widely used (such as ettle for intend) and/or coining new words from Germanic roots (such as wordstock for vocabulary). The resulting language is sometimes called Anglish (coined by the author and humorist Paul Jennings), Roots English (referring to the idea that it is a "return to the roots" of English), among other names. The mild form is often advocated as part of Plain English, but the more extreme form has been and continues to be a fringe movement.
>>
Personally, I would think a Germanic language would sound much better and probably make more sense with more Germanic words in it. Latin and Greek words are fine for the sciences, but they should be removed for common speech.

How do the Amish reconcile their belief that God intended for people to live simple lives when God clearly wants us to use electricity. Otherwise,

>he wouldn't have put all the oil under the ground and made it so simple to get it out
>he wouldn't have set up a swanky perpetually-burning nuclear furnace 93 million miles away that supplies a whole fucking kilowatt hour per square meter per hour

someone needs to wake up the Amish
if you know any Amish people, rewrite this post on a sheet of paper and mail it to those poor bastards

>God set up earth with oil and a furnace so that millions of years later, humans could use it through out some of our timescale, of which is just a sliver on the monumental timescale of Earth.
God seems very concerned with humanity for some reason.

I was born to a Catholic family. When I was younger I wanted to be a priest. When I got older, I became euphoric with atheistic enlightenment and degenerate drug usage in order to get laid. Nevertheless, I majored in philosophy in college in order to search for truth. Through my studies, I have been led back to religion time and time again. I feel called to a spiritual life, such as a priest or a monk -- but I also want to find a girlfriend...

Is there any religion that allows one to become a priest and get married as well?
28 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Protestant and Orthodox Churches do.
The Anglican Catholic Church does as well.

IN Buddhism I think Monks can marry other monks, just that sex is forbidden.

Hi! This is G. The answer to your question is yes, it's called Orthodoxy.
>>

I don't find any Biblical evidence to prohibit marriage for them, and in light of the catholic churches pedophilia,it should be encouraged.

If Baha'i replaced mainstream Islam, Jainism/Sikhism with Hinduism, whatever for Christianity and Judaism, and so on, it's most likely all these well meaning and highly principled religions will just turn into what they replaced. As small religions they have a niche, and if allowed to grow will naturally change to fit their new role.

Remember, the major faiths today also started out as idyllic.

Its nothing more than a pretty idea. Religions are too fundamentally different to "all teach pretty much the same thing man".
