How do we reconcile Christianity with the theory of evolution by the process of natural selection?
Jesus serves no purpose without a literal Adam, Eve, and Fall from Grace.
I await your input.
Evolution is illusion created by Satan.

They don't disagree
Adam and Eve is a metaphor
Original sin is a metaphor for our flawed nature

Jesus died for a metaphor?
Can human history be said to operate via natural selection?
>>1029044
No, to some extent we are still subject to natural selection, but we have been able to mitigate the vast majority of the pathways that natural selection operates through as it applies to ever other species.
>>1029044
>human nature
Seriously fuck off.
>>1029075

You should probably read a book sometimes. It's a nice experience.
Assuming the European Bank would decide to decorate their currency in a more imaginative manner than bricks and mortar, the portraits of which historical persons would you put on Euro banknotes? The persons need to represent the history of European civilization and hold an influence that is not limited to their own respective national culture.
Keep in mind you need to have something of a proportional representation for the different regions of Europe, different cultures and ideally different periods as well. They should be of different vocations and professions and come from diverse categories (i.e. politics, culture, art, philosophy, music, etc). Bonus points if you squeeze in women. Also no Hitler pls.
You have seven places to fill (for notes from €1 to €500), but the order and value of the currency is not an issue.

Non-Euro here.
Intellectuals and Artists will be your best bet.
Shit like Da Vinci, Plato, Voltaire, Kant or some shit.
Pretty neutral and pan-european as opposed to slapping one of your kings or generals on the bill.

Why didn't the Nazi fanatics like the SS etc wage a guerilla war when the Third Reich fell?
(same question about the committed Japs on the mainland - they 'kinda' did in their South East/Pacific Asia holdings. pic related).
Germans like to obey orders. They historically never resisted occupying invaders.
Hitler commiting sudoku kinda made the whole thing moot

Could someone please explain Chinese history to me?
>United dynasty
>Multiple chuck emperors
>divides into multiple warring states
>United by powerful opportunists
Rinse and repeat until 1240 or so, then
>barbarians invade
> set up themselves as emperors
>emperors start becoming cuckish and immersed in culture
>Chinese nut up and rebel
>set up new order

How would the countries of Europe and their armies fare against the armies of China? Let's go with all the current state of the countries before the the introduction of firearms. I don't know how much the longbow would fuck over China, but let's include it during the later years. Let's make a very dubious situation where they're all transported to a continent where they're unfamiliar with and must take advantage of terrain and castle/fort building on their own.
At what time periods does European countries, from Greeks, Romans, to medieval trump over China or vice-versa? At what points does the technology and military tactics of the respective sides overtake the other?
>>1028842
The clear trumping of China by any European force would begin by the late 1700's. It was that kind of army that fought the first Opium War.
Everything else is speculation. The first few European Military encounters between China and Europe were naval fights between the Ming and Portugal and the Dutch. And China won all three (four?) engagements.
>Tunmen
>Xicaowan
>The great raids against the Dutch East India Corporation
>Koxinga's invasion of Formosa.
>>1028842
Okay, well first we need to know what kind of random land, the size of the force, and from what country and era. You said before firearms, do you mean matchlocks or handgonnes or gunpowder in general.
>>1028852
Those naval battles aren't great, they're rather minor and even then the dutch weren't fully committed. Honestly, chinese v. european engagements are very limited save for the Opium war but that's out of the time period. Portugal did great in India and the eastern parts of Africa, but that's stretching it to compare to China
>>1028842
I'm going to postulate that China has bigger armies in general, and could hild a local superiority of numbers in any field short of invading Europe.
Further, the Chinese had more experience in supply and logisitics when it comes to moving vast armies along great distances, probably moreso than European nations of the time, sinply due to the scale of geography.
I may be mistaken, and I know nothing about disparities in weaponry.

Do you know that your grandma is in the hospital?
Yes. You do.
Which war was more "Hell"-ish?
The Vietnam War vs. The Great War
vietnam was hotter, so vietnam
For Amerifats, Vietnam surely since they did jack shit in WW1
But for the countries that really fought in WW1, Vietnam was a MLP episode
Only a slack jawed COD amerifat millennial would think that any war can compare in terror with The Great War.
The trench battles of Verdun outrank any Vietnamese sweaty jungle brawl by several orders of magnitude, and it is an insult to the hundreds of thousands that perished to try to rank it up against the Vietnam war, period.
Tet was terrible, no doubt. But Verdun was Hell
Why didn't Hitler:
>Ship the jews off to madagascar
>Reinforce the Romanian oilfields
>Not invade anything and wait until Germany had overwhelming technological superiority
?
>>1015602
>>Not invade anything and wait until Germany had overwhelming technological superiority
Because of this.
Okay not madagascar, but somewhere he could have shipped them.
>>1015602
>Not invade anything and wait until Germany had overwhelming technological superiority
Because Soviet industry was developing so rapidly that it would have outpaced Germany by 1943, which was basically the Soviet plans for the war from the start (i.e. hoping that France and Germany would fight WWI style until 1943 when the USSR would kick in Germany's back door).
The Nazis either had to start the war when they did, or they wouldn't be in a good position to win later on.
Ive practiced zazen sitting meditation for around 2 years.
I have read many books on the topic of meditation, including "Zen Training: Methods and Philosophy" as well as "Heart of buddhist meditation". I have also read several history books on buddhism, books written by monks, etc.
However, I have never hit a jhana (meditative state of pleasure). Occasionally I will come out of meditation with a totally refreshed and renewed mind, but I have never been absorbed in a state of intense pleasure and concentration.
Has anyone here ever hit a jhana? If so, how did you do it?
I actually had a neat thread about meditation a few months ago, I have it saved on my pc, but we never went into detail on the actual practice of meditation. I will upload the thread if people are interested and I can find a way.
>>1005270
Isn't the point the refreshment and clarity following meditation? I'm no expert but I always assumed jhana was more of a placebo effect. Or even as some zen bros call it "chasing states."
Or maybe it's like ASMR and not everyone experiences it? I know I don't.
>>1005270
How good are you at coming back, form your thoughts, to your object of meditation?
Do you have what they call a nimita?
How still physically and mentally can you be?
Muh sitting and doing nothing isn't giving me endless orgasms... waaaaaaah.
When I'm arguing with a Christian, whenever the subject of morality without religion comes up I always hear the same thing: "You can't be moral without religion because the morals you have right now are Christian morals anyway." What does that mean? What are Christian morals? Is there something unique about Christianity that somehow helped morality progress further?
That picture is pretty neat

Glad you like it. I'll drop some more for you, bump the thread in the process
