why is every country obsessed with having boring tricolor flags? why are we no longer seeing any kind of symbols except simple suns or crescent moon?
>>1020383
Blame the Dutch and French
>>1020383
Literally Democracy and Nationalism.
These two were all about pandering to the plebs. Therefore Flags have to be dumbed down so they can remember and replicate it better.
Meaning no heraldic devices for as much as possible.
Logoification basically.
I hate the ROI flag so much, such a shit flag. I know a few Englishmen who hate the Unionjack as well, its odd.
>"If socialists understood economics, they wouldn't be socialists"
What did the greatest economist of all time, Friedrich Hayek, mean by this? Can anyone explain?

What can you tell me in depth about the Tocharian culture of Xinjiang? Other than they were an Indo European Culture which happened to live in what is modern day western China and followed Buddhism?
I've always been intrigued by them, how much do we have on their people and culture? I know we have some of their poems and texts and that they had their own particular script, but just how much we know about them? Their way of life, their state organisation, their kingdoms, their architecture, what life in their society looked like.
I'd like some serious answers, no autism please, i know this is 4chan, but for once, just once, i'd like to have a serious, meaningful discussion about a historical topic that is actually, quite interesting.
>>1011557
They are an interesting bunch, I reckon they more than likely settled in the Turfan area and then later on may have been proto Kushans.
>>1011610
Yeah i heard about Kanishka the king of the Kushans probably being of Tocharian stock, plus they were from what i gather, instrumental to the spread of Buddhism in China. I just wish we knew more about what their culture and their cities looked like, their day to day life, their manner of dress, their customs, it seems altogether all so fascinated yet so shrouded in mystery.
It's not like all their cities were destroyed.
The Uyghur turks invaded and intermarried with a lot of the local population in the Turfan Depression
Why is politics so convoluted? Why isn't there a book stating exactly what Marxists truly want and why, without all the jargon and abstract bullshit?
This is what I understand so far. I know it is probably retarded but help me out.
>Marxists hate Liberal Democracy. I guess because muh capitalism and muh neo-imperialism.
>If Liberal Democracy collapsed now or generations before us the west would revert to some sort of capitalist hierarchy (Fascism, Monarchy whatever)
>Marxists empower and awaken groups to their identity/oppression under Liberal Democracy. (Feminism, BLM, gays, trannies)
>A culture so awakened creates the conditions that led the French to revolt in the French Revolution. Thereby making fascism or any other type of authoritarianism impossible if Liberal Democracy collapsed.
>This is in the hopes of humanity arising into some sort of cooperative socialism at the end of Liberal Democracy.
pic only sort-of related btw
>marxism
>relevant in modern politics

Are you aware of how many journals and organizations are Marxists think tanks in modern universities?
When were duels banned in the west, and why?
Bonus question: do you think they should be re-introduced? Explain the answer from a moral standpoint.
>>1033974
>When were duels banned in the west, and why?
Because it was bad idea to have your elites decimated because duels for every petty argument were fashionable at the time.

Interesting homework assignment desu.
When's it due?
Kitnyot is now kosher for Passover.
Also, why don't Christians celebrate Passover?
>>1027169
You don't Jews celebrate Yulenight? It's the day one of the three aspcects of god was born.
>>1027169
Only in the conservative movement not in the Orthodox movement and really this is only a matter of importance to Ashkenazim because the rest of us aren't that fucking stupid to do this in the first place.
>>1027169
>Also, why don't Christians celebrate Passover?
We call it Easter, with all the double symbolism involved.
Was it worth it?
Bit pointless wasnt it?
>>1029846
I am also wondering to the point of morale.
scientifically, it was very insignificant, but so was sending a man to the moon
Why climb that mountain?
Because it's there.
Why fling a dog into low orbit?
Because i can.
Is this a valid critique of Marx?

If you accept as hominems to be valid
I don't agree with Marx but the image is basically ad hominem.

What is your opinion on Muhammad (PBUH)?
he sure did like fucking 9 year olds
Best proselytizer in history.

I feel like Mo was some of the more unique religious founders out there.
There's way too many ascetics, wilderness preachers, turn-the-other-cheek types as founders of religions.
But Muhammad? Fuck no.
>Im oppressed. Im taking my autism away from here.
>Im oppressed here as well. Fuck you guys, you asked for this.
Warlord and Major Religion Founder. No one else in history was like this.
I've heard many complain they didn't take calculus in HS, but never heard someone complain they didn't take more courses on poetry or history.
Does this imply humanities are worthless af?
Worthless? No, just less practical and easier to understand.

It's harder to get a good grade in the social sciences than in pure sciences. This being said, you can't compare each to the other, as they require different levels of skill or expertise.
>>1021777
I have a Masters in History and I can assure you I did it in my sleep. Its the only major where you can press your Professor up against a bar wall and make-out with. STEM major can prove me wrong doe.
So, when exactly do Christians believe the Second Coming will happen?

Why did Xerxes failed at invading Greek city states?
Is it his decision on tactics fault for losing the war?
Greeks had better infantry.
Chariots, cavalry and elephants are hard to maneuver in the hilly and claustrophobic hills of Greece.
>>1020595
Couldn't they just focus on missile infantry or horse archers in hills?
>>1020584
He never really wanted it and just halfassedly tried to conquer it because he was honorbound by his fathers failure to do so
did female vikings participate in the raping?
In reality they were viking futas
>>1026166
Revisionist scum, all vikings were actually viqueens - the men stayed at home while the women did all the fighting.
What the fuck did you think happened? Only the viking women raped.
Who was the single most important person of history, /his/?
Paradoxical question open for too much philosophical memery.
>Julius Caesar obviously

Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ

The typical narrative is that the big bad british empire sent in the brave Australian soldier to die in a pointless campaign.
I want to know what actually happened during the Gallipoli campaign, anyone have some reliable resources or things I can read?
once thats sorted, general Australian war history thread.
>>1024667
Gallipoli by peter fitzsimmons
I think that's typically a myth that was perpetuated by films like Gallipoli which paint all the Australian officers as faultless. I mean, when the Australians first landed, they were ordered to move in land and only faced about 100 Turks. The Australian command chickened out and ordered the ANZACs to dig in, allowing the Turks to move in adequate reinforcements.
