Holy shit no.
I ain't no kike
Dat a cool neckless
I've been reading up on medieval siege tactics and weapons and I came across a page that said crossbowmen would often coat their bolts in beeswax.
Is there any historical accuracy to this or is it just another myth?
The reason given was that it would cause the bolts to more often bounce or slide off shields but I can't find any other sources that support this claim.
>>1038789
Why would they want them to slide off shields?
>>1038800
Theoretically to fly into helmets and other areas of the body.
>>1038789
I think it is prevent wear and tear on the crossbow.
What does it mean to be crazy or insane?
>>1038660
I don't know, can someone please explain?
>>1038660
it doesn't mean anything, fool
It means that others think you are crazy or insane.
I really like the Kaiserreich mod for the hearts of iron series. For those not familiar with it there is a huge wiki that has a detailed history.
I however do not like several decisions the mod makers have made. Some of them were made to have a certain powerbalance and others i can't explain. I would like to hear the input of /his/ to create a better scenario. Post what disturbs you about the scenario and what you would change. I will post my suggestions later on when i can use my computer.
Even if nobody was interested in this :
The wiki : http://editthis.info/kaiserreich/Main_Page
The basis for the mod is that the central powers win WW1 thus world history takes a completly different path. The mod tries to create a more interesting gameplay for hearts of iron so some decisions are not even close to realism. I would be interested in making the scenario more realistic.
Things that bugged me the most :
- GB falling to syndicalism ( the Kaiserreich timelines revolutionary leftist ideology) In my oppinion GB either would become rightwing reactionary trying to hold together its vast empire after a disastrous WW1 or abolish imperialism and electing a labour government.
- France also becomes syndicalist in TTL and is some sort of left wing 3rd reich. This bugs me because i don´t think a victorious kaissereich would have allowed this. Even if we accept this premise the Commune of France is ridiciously overpowered.
- The germans are deadbeat conservative and miss all the military innovations after beeing victorious in WW1, similiar to france in OTL. I think this is unrealistic given the nature of the german military. Even in WW1 they were very innovative and i don´t think they would have made the mistakes france did after winning WW1(at least not to the same extent, especially because WW1 was way more disastrous for france).
-The second american civil war: I like the civil war but i am not sure there is a way to implement an even vaguely realistic one.
- I like russia as a weak republic but i think the whole storyline should be refined.
I like the general idea of KR, but absolutely hate the execution. The changes are just way too zany, out of this world, crazy, unbelievable, syndicailsm etc. everywhere.

I would like to work on that.
Let's talk about martyrs.
Has anyone here read Candida Moss's book The Myth of Persecution?
What about them?

It sounds interesting.
Was he a bad ruler?
Was he a bad person?
Was he a bad thing to happen?
Didn't he pave the road to Napoleon through his rule? People just got so fucking tired of him.

Autism is a great power, and with great power comes great responsibility
Jews for most of their history in Canaan, but according to biblical legend their ancestors originated in Mesopotamia.
Genetic testing seems to reveal that they are closely related to their west Semitic neighbors but also to Turks, Armenians, Kurds, Italians and Greeks, which is not shared as much by their levantine cousins like syrians, lebanese, palestinians. It is normally suggested that this comes from communities of converts in one of these countries, but their Mesopotamian origin is overlooked as an explanation for their genetic affinities with Turks, Kurds, Armenians and Caucasians. Mesopotamian are believed by historians to have originated in vicinity of turkey, the Armenian highlands, and its even been speculated some of them could have migrated from caucasian places like georgia.
Pic slightly unrelated because they're Samaritans, close relatives of jews who don't share the more central asian genetic affinities

first off the claim is that Abraham is from Ur so that would specifically be Sumerians, not general Mesopotamians. we have little reason to believe the Jews and all other Israelites were anything besides Canaanites. There is little evidence to support the biblical account of Genesis. It has at least two things in it that don't fit the supposed time period of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob: the Philistines who didn't settle in Canaan until the end of the bronze age and camels which hadn't been domesticated yet. Also the Hebrew language is very closely related to the language of the Phoenicians, in fact arguably they got their alphabet from the Phoenicians. This doesn't necessarily prove genetic ties but it shows that there is no cultural continuity between Hebrews and their supposed Sumerian origins. They spoke a Canaanite language and worshiped Canaanite gods. When Abraham was visited by God, he didn't go by any name known by Sumerians as a god or even a name with Sumerian origins. God went by the name El Shaddai, which is Western Semitic in origin

they come from the mud and clay of the earth.
Egyptians spoke of nomad tribes pestering the Syrian province with their occasional raids and small acts of thievery, the Habiru

>americans think having an outdated constitution from the 18th century is good
>americans cant understand the benefits of having a constitution that changes with the times

What was his problem?
Like most if not all dictators, narcissism.
Paranoia, most likely. Having Trotsky whacked didn't provide him any benefit, since by that point Trotsky was dicking around in Mexico and Trotskyist have never been a threat to anyone.

You'd have a big ego too if you were in charge of a global hegemon.

He choose to be a perfect political entity instead of being a human. His greatest victory arguably is dying of natural consequences. One step ahead of everyone to the point where no one could touch him, even in his greatest time of need.
Ok guys, simple and direct question: Why the German army, one of the greatest military forces of all times, cannot do a simple thing as prepare itself and its tanks and machines and shit for a goddamn winter of one of the biggest nations on mothafucking earth?
>>1037515
Because Hitler's buddies and all other high ranking Germans thought logistics was for nerds.
>>1037515
>greatest

They actually did a pretty good job till they got surrounded Nd they couldnt send relief forces because western front lol
What is exactly wrong with ideological inconsistansy or hypocrisy? Calling someone a hypocrite if the situation allows it is almost mandatory in arguments buy rarely does anyone go into detail why exactly hypocrisy is wrong.
Thoughts?
>>1037511
Hypocrisy is wrong insofar as someone claims to both believe in some principle and believe that they are permitted to do something that the principle prohibits. It's basically living a contradiction.
>>1037520
But could you give me logically sound reasoning as to why being self contradictory is wrong? How is it for example harmful?
The search for knowlege is the search for absolute truth
Absolute truth is absolute, if there are any contridictions than it is inconsistent and incorrect by definition
Arguments are there to attempt to get closer to the truth, if one is inconsistent their logic is flawed and they should seek to figure out how to iron out the inconsistancy in their logic
