Hi /his/
I'm 20 years old and am very much irreligious. But I can't identify as an atheist because I do believe in some higher power.
Anyways, I was raised as a seventh-day adventist and I wanted to know if anyone had questions or so forth.
I may not know the answers to some said questions if they're related to the Bible. I didn't pay close attention to their context as a kid, other than a few obvious things.
Personally, I don't think they're TOO special. Apparently they think so though-- so that's why I thought I might get some questions.
Do you still keep Shabbath?
Do you believe in creationism?
>>1100173
I don't. Neither of those.
But SDAs believe in those two things.
Did you grow up near people that tolld you the pope and jesuits are a part of some grand conspiaricy?
Was your family a vegetarian one? Prety sure the church likes that.

They're not opinions.
You communist retards are so fucking pathetic you have to venerate people who never held any power because any communist who ever held power turned out to be a complete fucking disaster.
The same thing applies to Sankara. Fucking commie nigger dictator. Glad he's dead.

Realistically, how good was the Republic of Venice at War throughout its history? At its high point could it have been characterized as a military superpower for its time period? Obviously they were much more capable Navally, but what about land forces? Why did they end up losing to the Ottoman Empire so much when they engaged, despite performing incredibly well against other forces? Pic related.
>>1099925
Venice is historically a failed state, it was born from escaping to the swamps from the germanics who overran rome and much of italy.

You tend to not want to mess with its Navy for one thing. Also among the Italian city states, they had a proud tradition of civic militias fighting for their state.
Unfortunately they bit the Mercenary Meme and their ground forces declined because of it.

Is you are referring to the anthropomorphic Deity that applies to just human beings and the human experience as explained by the major Monotheistic religions on the planet, the answer is neither. That "God" did not exist until It was invented by the mind of man and only applies to man. (Other sentient species on other planets be damned)
If you are referring to the "Higher Power" of Twelve Step (AA) Atheists, then the answer is maybe both.
Amen

did you not read Valis?
the Roman Empire never ended he says, not like other empires, it transformed and persisted through millennia
"The Empire" is a psychological construct and has been at war with its greatest enemy, the Christians since Jesus died.
the Empire is basically psychopathic warlike control and in PK Dick's eyes the evil entity that haunts the west.
The giant empire became a giant church
Who was the best Emperor/Roman that could have saved the empire during the Dominate period?
>who was the best Emperor/Roman
The answer is always Marcus Aurelius
Best emperors of the time were Julian, Constantius III and Majorian. Any emperor prior to 420 could have saved it if they had not been so short sight regarding foederati settlement.
>could have saved
But he did.
What event was the closest America came to total collapse?

What do you suggest?
It was either dying under old and busted Tzarist rule or dying under never tried before Communist rule. The Red Terror was balanced by the White Terror in the civil war.
