I feel like life is at least 90% some sort of suffering. Why go on? What keeps you guys going? If I love for a goal it can just as easily fail or I can become disinterested and I'm back at square one. Even if I reach my goal I then have to find a new one and will be in an endless loop of want. Should I become more stoic? Apathy? Why isn't endless sleep preferable?
Also I know pic related isn't the full quote
Not this shit again, seriously.

What are some ace /his/ recommended documentaries?
I'm interesting subjects like ancient Europe (Greeks, Early Roman Antiquity, Scandinavian/Germanic culture/religion, Mesopotamia, ancient China, early century Empires (S.P.Q.R., Byzantine Empire, Ottoman Empire, Mongolian Empire), language etymology, religion, science and mathematics breakthroughs/anomalies...
I'm on Netflix looking for actual informative documentaries rn, they're actually pretty hard to find. It's all "killer legends" and "Atari: game over" and shit like that

How realistic is this compared to medieval combat?
You must be at least this American to compete.
>>1101033
Not very. It plays out more like a bar room brawl between two drunk gangs kicking and punching each other chaotically then a clash between two trained groups of fighters using deadly weapons to kill or incapacitate each other.

medieval combat in armor was a lot of stabbing at weak points

Before Vienna: Poland at the zenith of it's power
After Vienna: Poland disintegrates and gets split
If the Ottomans took Vienna, it would have forced them into a war with the Germans, since they had to reclaim the capital of the Unholy Barbarian Confederation. Eventually the French would've stepped in so save the Germans, leaving both Germany and Ottoman Hungary weak and ripe for picking.
Saving Vienna seems like a retard move in retrospect.
>>1100519
Yes, 1683 was a huge mistake for Poland.
Not only they got betrayed by their fellow catholic brothers, but also partitioned by the ones they saved.
>inb4 TWASN'T JUST POLAND xdXDDD
German troops died like flies, Sobieski took charge quiete literally and commanded to victory.
German troops stopped fighting to just see the Polish charge on Ottomans.
>>1100519
>Before Vienna: Poland at the zenith of it's power
Also to add more, not really.
1683 was after Swedish Deluge and Cossack uprisings, so it was pretty crashed at this moment. Charge in Vienna was the last show of power by Polish state.
Also, there will be shitton of Prussiapros, germanboos in this thread any second.
The French would not help the Austrians. Actually, they helped the Turks by moving their troops to the frontier, forcing the Austrians to divide their forces and to not have the help of some western members of the Empire that had to be guard against the French.
The French would not have defeated the Turks, if the Turks managed to conquer Vienna.
Wikipedia is very informative
Seriously though how is there no reliable consensus for battles this big
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Chaldiran
Because there was no reliable census, there can be no reliable consensus.
Even back in the 50s my grandfather was able to lie his age to get the Korean war. Bureaucracy and people charged with counting big numbers sucked donkey dick until very recently in history.
Even today we have trouble knowing precisely how much traffic there is on the road, even with cameras everywhere. Why would someone in 1514 be able to look at a maelstrom of murder and know how many bodies there were?
Pic related. How many people live on this street?
>>1100511
I like the idea of one or both sides employing people to go around and count how many dead bodies or lost equipment there was after a battle. That seems pretty comical to me. It's like they sent in the army, so now it's time to send in the bureaucrats.
Turkish sources would be the best one.
If one converts to a religion purely out of fear of consequences in the afterlife, would that person be welcomed by God?
>>1100281
1. Why would someone not belonging to a certain religion be swayed by the concept of afterlife of that certain religion to which he doesn't belong?
2. Any religion that relies on fear, obedience, and tradition-based customs, is not spiritual, and therefore it has no relation to God.
>>1100295
Apologies, I should have been clearer in that I was referring to atheists and agnostics, and not practitioners of other religions

>The man of the future will be of mixed race. Today's races and classes will gradually disappear owing to the vanishing of space, time, and prejudice. The Eurasian-Negroid race of the future, similar in its appearance to the Ancient Egyptians, will replace the diversity of peoples with a diversity of individuals.
What did he mean by this?
He meant this isn't history

>writings from 1925
>not history
But man has always been of mixed race. The strong have always been mixing with the strong and the degenerates are left to breed with degenerates. This is how all lifeforms breed and evolve. Just like we see today with shitty people living in shitty areas of the world, being shitty and poor, simultaneously the great people live in the great areas of the world and are rich and prosperous. This is how it's always been and how it always will be. We are all "mixed" race and have always been, it's just that people tend to mix with people who are of a similar disposition. A succesful man will take a succesful wife and have succesful children, a poor fucking gypsy will take a gypsy wife and spawn gypsy children.
What do "spiritual but not religious" or "I believe in a life force" mean?
Experiencing states of mind similar to those described in religious texts, while not believing in the supernatural.
if you hear that then you're talking to a white person
I'm too cool for established religions.
