The Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria are said to be nicknames. My professor said one is nearly impossible to find and only one student has ever gotten it.
>>1112317
Nina = Santa Clara
Santa Maria = La Santa María de la Inmaculada Concepción (yeah)
Pinta = name is unknown
>>1112521
This
I'm from the town where the Santa Clara was made. Santa Clara is a monastery in a town called Moguer and the Niño brothers, who lived there, were the boatbuilders.
Tell me they're not still teaching that crap in school. What did your professor tell you that he discovered America? There's no reason for Columbus to be taught in any primarily English speaking country. The guy shipwrecked in a place called Santo Domingo.
Aside from Sun Tzu, are there any western generals/commanders/pleb who wrote a book on an interesting aspect of war and conflict?
Clausewitz.
Dupuy
Mahan.
It's the early 1920's and you've been appointed head of the Soviet Union. How do you govern it and what changes do you make to avoid the mistakes that Stalin & co. did in real life?
Hard mode: you're not allowed to drop communism.
Ultrahard mode: you're not allowed to adopt capitalism in any form whatsoever for at least 50 years.

Supermegahardmode: still achieve victory in WW2, unless you avoid it.

>invest heavily in punchcard computers to keep track of economic data and limit pricing/supply issues
>implement limited habeas corpus and property rights, with the caveat that the federal government can still do whatever the fuck it wants
>implement democracy on the local and state level
>fund German moderates to prevent the Wiemar republic form having to choose between communism and fascism
>normalize relations as much as possible
Really, just don't be a dipshit and you'll be fine.
Why did he hate Marx so much?
>>1111883
He realized he was so absolutely and totally BTFO that he had no response other than
>Y-you're a Jew!
>>1111897
>a good meme is made
>stalinists respond by making an incredibly butthurt and unfunny version
literally every time
>>1111945
can you show me the good meme
My dad loves his parents and talks fondly of his childhood. He mentions casually that his mum and dad would smack him for being bad. But he never ever smacked me, and when I asked him about this discrepancy he says that he never contemplated doing it (though I was a well behaved child).
Has humanity reached peak comfy and we don't need to respond harshly to bad behaviour?
>>1111477
Nah you were just a good kid. I used to get smacked when I ducked up and now I'm a pretty decent person I stay away from idiots and trouble and not a lot of people hate me and I try to be a nice person
>>1111477
Depends where you live m8, some places hitting children is seen as cruel and inhumane, in other places (even in what we think of as the developed world) parents beat their children all the time. My parents had to send a note requesting that the teachers at my school not paddle me (although I don't think it was done at my school anyway).
>tfw other kids would get into trouble at school and their parents would pick them and buy them McDonald's after class
>tfw I got the shit beaten out of my ass for even slight transgressions
Worst feeling is sitting in class for hours dreading having to go home. Non-Asian kids will never know this feel.
My uncle told me that in 1979, when he was 17, he applied to join the British army and after the medical he was told if he signed he would be sent to Northern Ireland so he told them to fuck off. I called his bluff and said that anybody in the British army from the ages of 16 to 18 could not be sent to a war zone however he argues that it was different in 1979 and that you could be sent to fight if you were 17. I have looked to try find evidence to back up my point but I can't find anything relating to that year. Help /his/
>implying the Anglos give a fuck about rules
OI LAD YOU'RE GOING OFF TO NORTHERN IRELAND LADDIE OL BOI
There seems to be no good reason to outright contradict his version of events, even if you're right and you have no way of knowing.
t. metternich
what did he imply by this?
Geographical, not geopolitical
>>1111444
doesnt matter
>>1111444
I guess Austria-Hungary wasn't even that.
What does /his think of Nietzsche?
I think he was an autistic smug philosopher who only cared for himself
>what does /his/ think of Nietzche
We've had Nietzche threads every few days for the past 6 months, I would expect you to know by now
>>1111373
Hugs ponies.
Why should he give a shit about anyone else?
Should President Ford have pardoned Richard Nixon?
If Nixon didn't think he'd be pardoned Ford wouldn't have been president in the first place
Would the country be better off with a former president in prison? I can see arguments either way.
Hey, give me your /his/ approved labour/"left" songs.

>you will never see him perform live
> Once the solar, golden, sacred regality of the mythical first age fell, power devolved upon a lunar, silver, feminized priestly caste before an unconsecrated warrior nobility struggled against it, announcing the Bronze Age. Then power shifts to the mercantile caste, represented by the Italian comune, Freemasonry, the Jewish financial oligarchy of the Renaissance, and New World American Judeo-Protestant plutocracy. By the beginning of the twentieth century, organized labour and Marxist-Trotskyite subverters sought to transfer power to the last caste of slaves or sudras, or the consumer-pariah, reducing all values to matter, machines, dysgenic egalitarianism and the reign of abstract quantity.
Is Evola right or is this highly simplified version of history?
>highly simplified version of history?
Yes.
He's right.

New age faggots can leave any time
You have a 12yo brother and you want to get him into history. How would you describe the Renaissance and Humanism to him in, let's say, two paragraphs, without making it an absolute borefest? How can you explain to a kid things lke the revival of interest towards platonism, the classical canon of beauty, hermeticism or mention great people like Rabelais, Copernicus, Ficino, Francis Bacon, Giordano Bruno, Michelangelo, DaVinci without making it an absolute borefest? I
know people like us had immense curiosity and devoured a lot of information but times change and now they might not have enough time or attention for that. How would you guys explain this period?
>>1111039
>trying to get your brother into your hobby.
lol he's gonna hate you
find cool movies or games or comics related to *historical period* and let them act as a gateway
>>1111039
Honestly? Mass media, even if it's not historically accurate. The Borgias, Assassin's Creed, etc.
Nobody started liking history by reading a textbook. Age of Empires, Civ or Braveheart got you to start reading kiddie books, which got you into reading a textbook. Mass Media may not be historically accurate, but it helps cultivate an early and healthy interest in history. If he likes it he'll keep liking history long after he knows what's wrong with whatever entry level media got him into it.
How did the European countries deal with decline from superpower status and loss of empire?
How did it affect their politics and national identity?

IJA in the Russo-Japanese war is 100% would-fight-for, but IJA WWII-era is literally baby rapist-tier. There's also this which is pretty bad:
