Why do people on here even engage with critical theory or its close relations? If critical theory can really predict things, let critical theorists clearly state their falsifiable predictions. If the theory is not meant to predict things then we shall accept that it is one theory (or group of theories) out of infinitely many possible unfalsifiable theories.
That's basically it. So why this muddle headed talk of how many rapes can be performed on the head of a pin? The judgement of unfalsifiable theories is through arbitrarily chosen criteria (in reality chosen through fashion).
Can someone tell me, if critical theory is not in the business of making falsifiable predictions, why critical theorists love using their theories to talk about important issues?
I'm asking such simple questions but I will not get clear answers.
Why didn't Romans just conquer all of Africa
Did they fear the BLACK warrior?
>>3232766
Yeah they totally feared small tribes that used wooden spears
>>3232773
not only that, but blacks themselves
pic related, descendant of AFRICA versus descendant of Rome.

18th century is GOAT
>cool fashion, powdered wigs are a e s t h e t i c
>top-tier music, baroque, rococo, composers like Mozart, Vivaldi, Bach
>cool art and paintings
>interesting events, wars of Spanish and Austrian Succession, piracy in the Carribean, Seven Years War, American and French Revolutions
>Voltaire with his real life shitposting
>Peter the Great in Russia
>products like coffee, tomato and sugar becoming everyday stuff
I really like the 18th century
Yep 18th century is patrician (literally), 19th is for plebs and severely overrated
Terrible fashion
Dully formal music
Bad art (w-we wuz row manz n sheieet)
Disgusting meme events
Literally the worst person ever
A meme
Trash that largely went bad during export. Europeans ruined their coffee, because so much went stale or rancid by arrival, so it was roasted dark. Dark roasted coffee tastes like ass. Sugar has done more damage than crack to blacks or opium to Chinese.

Vivaldi is boring beyond belief.
With everyone freaking out about a "second" Korean War, let's discuss the ACTUALLY Second Korean War
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_DMZ_Conflict_(1966%E2%80%931969)
Basically,
General Bonesteel the Third along with other US and South Korean troops battle North Koreans during the Vietnam war. End result is return to status quo.

What are some historical events, organizations or people so ridiculous and or stupid that if you tried to tell someone who didn't know about them they'd think you were lying.
MKULTRA is one of the best examples I can think of.
Also how Mao tried to commit genocide on sparrows and the Emu War in general
>>3232522
>the Emu War
The reality of it is a lot more mundane than /k/ memes. It was just pest control, and it ended up being pretty successful.
>>3232533
If you try and tell people who didn't know about it that the Australian military post WWI were used as pest control against giant flightless birds they wouldn't believe you still.
Australians "losing" isn't even the craziest part.
>>3232544
Most of it was conducted by farmers, and it lasted years. The two guys and a machine gun was a single event out of those years.
Had Hitler decided to take over Germany only and not the rest of Europe, how long could have Nazi Germany survived?
Until the rest of the world got tired of his bullshit
>>3232434
~1938-1940 when the economy imploded.
>>3232434
Like China it would have eventually liberalized and dropped much of its authoritarianism and only became Nazi in name only.
Why did the Industrial Revolution benefit the American economy more than any other?
>untouched by war
>decently large population
>already modernised unlike China or India
Not an expert though so Im not sure how much these affected their economy
>>3232402
None of those explain why we were the largest percentage in 1900
>>3232407
Then maybe the fact that they aren't a monarchy?
Why do people say that the Weimar republic was controlled by Marxists, Jews, and Degenerates, when it's President was the uber-conservative nationlist Hindenburg and it was dominated by the centre-right Catholic Centre Party, and it fought against spartacists/communists/judeobolshevist insurrectioners and even executed their polish-jewish leader Rosa Luxembourg?
/pol/ cannot into history.
>>3232383
Because /pol/ only knows two things- those with them and those against them. If you're against them then you must be a commie degenerate marxist or something. Also they like to overblow the importance of the uprising and of the communist party of that time to make it look Hitler and the Nazis were saviors who stopped evil from destroying Germany and totally not thugs who destroyed Germany themselves.
>>3232383
>dominated by the centre-right Catholic Centre Party
At the end it was, but for most of Weimar's history it was ruled by a left-wing coalition that only fell apart once the Great Depression hit. This coalition singed the armistice as well as get Germany back on it's feet just a few years later.
Who was the most overrated general of WW2?

How come Hitler had no interest in an overseas colonial empire, like many German monarchists and conservative nationalists preceding him did?
He didn't seem to mind at all the Japanese Empire taking over european colonies in SE Asia that had belonged to Germany or Netherlands.
>>3232351
>like many German monarchists and conservative nationalists preceding him did?
That was pretty much something that only Kaiser Wilhelm wanted. The Prussian elite actually hated the idea of colonies because they didn't want foreigners to dilute their power. Germany's pre-WW1 naval expansion was a pet project between the Kaiser and Tirpitz.
>>3232369
I'm pretty sure Hindenburg and the DNVP favoured it, even Adenauer was chair of the German colonial club.
>>3232374
Why do Germans seem to have a fucking society/club for everything?

To break up the montony of thinly veiled /pol/ threads about Africa, can we talk about East/ Central Africa?
There's a lot of great writing on the region, pic especially related
>Have actual African culture
>Ruin it by we wuzing
>>3232267
King Leopold's Ghost by Adam Hothschild is also a great book on Congo.
>>3232304
Yeah, that's pretty essential /his/ lit I think.
I'm thinking about putting together a reading chart for Central African history, would there be any interest in that?
