What happens when we die?

Biological functions cease, lose consciousness. Then other people have to do something with your remains generally and hold a funeral to help them cope with the grief. I don't know what specifically do you want to know it's a broad question?

So when someone makes the Matrix real and you can jack in to anything you want, where are you going to go first?

For me, I think I'd like to live like a reasonably wealthy Roman socialite, going to excessively decadent parties every day and fucking slaves sounds like a trip, and I wouldn't be rich enough that anyone bothers me to fund a shipbuilding or something like that.

>you will never be a Victorian Age British gentleman/explorer/industrialist who spends his youth travelling into unknown parts of the world and philandering with locals/mapping ancient wonders and making scientific discoveries who then strikes it rich in the diamond fields of Africa, only to then retire to your estate in the British countryside entertaining guests in your parlor as you all sit in beautiful darkwood mahogany furniture and discuss politics and your adventures and hunting trips in the serengeti, passing your days in wonderful company and good drink, helping up-and-coming youngsters get started in the world through sage advice and funding until finally dying at a ripe old age, honored by your country and your community for your works and by the rest of the world for your great generosity in bequeathing your fortune to further education around the world and help make the world a more civilized place

Basically a better version of Cecil Rhodes.

Would a society that forced empathy for one another be a utopia or a dystopia? Would forcing people to care for one another, robbing them of the freedom to not be nice, be a bad thing even if it's for the greater good?
54 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Yes.
>>
Wouldn't be that worse than ours.
>>
i think your answer to this depends on how much you value freedom of choice.

personally, i don't value it enough to not desire a world in which people are kind to one another at all times. how would that change how we conduct ourselves? i'm intrigued in what the results would be, intrigued enough to not care about not having the choice to be rude.

What were the purpose of auxilia infantry in the Roman army? What did they use the spears for? What was their tactical employment?
21 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
"What did they use the spears for?" You have got to be kidding.
>>
They were usually frontier guardsmen.

Which is retarded when you think about it, because most aux were originally from the frontier

>Which is retarded when you think about it, because most aux were originally from the frontier

How is that retarded?

Person on the frontier guards the frontier. Why would you bother with the logistics of moving someone from Italy to guard a border when you've got a guy living on the border?

Is this board moderated at all any more?
So many threads aren't even /pol/ with dates, they are straight up /pol/.

>Democracy vs Monarchy
>Why are right-wingers manly and left-wingers girly?
>Ask a communist anything.
>Why is academia still so full of Marxists?
etc, leaving aside the which flavor of the Neapolitan icecream that is Christianity, atheism shitposting, etc that technically belongs here but should have its own containment board. Nobody is interested apart from the shitposters that think they need a new thread every time some retarded thought bubble pops into their head.

How is any of that shit '/pol/'? That adjective doesn't even mean anything with the way you hugboxers use it.

Kick out humanities and make this a history board

Problem solved
>>
We should make a new imageboard website with actual moderation if this board continues this way

That way, the humanities could also be compartmentalized

What are the biggest differences and similarities between Ramaden and Lent?
27 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>1273901
People actually practice Ramadan.
>>
>>1273914
People actually practice lent too. I know a guy that every year during lent he only drinks a bottle of Gatorade and one bowl of broth a day.
>>
>>1273901
Muslims give up food and drink from sunrise and eat again at sunset. In lent you just give up something and most people just stick to giving it up in a half assed manner.

Was not everybody about Him saying: ‘Whatever has He been doing with her?’ Secondly, with Mary Magdalen, and thirdly with the women taken in adultery whom He dismissed so lightly. >4chan cup?
http://implyingrigged.info/wiki/Main_Page

Since we're still around the aftermath of the Spring Babby Cup I think it's time to listen to a lot of early calls to totally revamp sections of our roster. In light of this I'm going to hold a new poll for our roster to prepare it early for Autumn and invitationals before then. The top 19* voted suggestions will make the new roster, after that point polls will be much humbler and done in the format of our previous poll (5-10 players replaced at a time). I feel this is the right time since /his/ has developed more of a culture than it had in March (albeit for better or fore worse).

*the medals will be safe in the poll, but they will not be so safe in the next poll if their medal positions are replaced when we decide new medals

We need a lot of suggestions for a fleshed out and representative roster poll, so be sure to come up with some and post them in the thread.

The Irish, because they are the only ones that actually have their own country. Well, PART of their own country. The most profitable part is still held by Anglo-Normans.

Define success.

I would also say the Irish, the basis that they're the only ones still existing.

The Welsh did okay too.

Why can't muslim pray in their native languages? Why are they restricted to arabic? Would more people join islam if there wasn't the requirement to pray in arabic?
81 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
>>1267863
For a like time church-led prayer in Catholicism was done in Latin.

I imagine like in the Catholic church most non-Arab Muslims just pretend to know what they're on about when praying in the liturgical language.
>>
Because if it did, they claims of universality would be true.

But Islam is an Arab supremacist religion.
>>
>>1267863
Islam is concerned with corruption of its beliefs by way of mistranslation. To prevent this, the (purportedly) same words that Muhammad received and transmitted are to be used when the Koran is recited

Anyone collect medals or have some saved in the family? I have British medals from WW1 and 2 and a couple others. I've wanted an Iron Cross for years and bought the one pictured recently, surprised how much more expensive they've become, but I did go to a legit dealer to buy in person as there are so many counterfeits going around. I'm not sure whether to get a WW1 cross as well or to focus on 3rd reich. Predictably that's more valuable despite being more recent.

What have you got or would like to get?

lol
>>
... I have my grandfathers' medals, including a WW2 iron cross. But why the fuck would you buy other people's medals?
>>
>>1276920
Hmm my great-uncle has inherited a Légion d'honneur medal, as I recall, and there may be a Napoleonic uniform tagged to it too. It dates back from an ancestor that served under Napoleon.

And otherwise, my grandmother has entrusted us with knowledge that there was a cousin in the family that was a general in WW1 (french army) and that probably means that he received a medal at some point. Hence, I'm pretty certain that if I hunted down that part of the family, I could buy off the medal from them.

But yeah that's it. Just sounds like an entertaining thread, so I felt like smudging my irrevelant facts into it as some sort of bumb.

And I can't advise you that well on your medals, but best of luck.

Disdain for corruption.
>>
Had an overinflated sense of his own sinfulness and made up a heresy to free himself from self-oppression.

Actually read a biography of Luther some time. He was kind of a miserable git. CONSTANTLY going to Confession for even minor sins, to the point that his confessor told him to cut it out. He was obsessed with sin and perfection. He was also not exactly the brightest of bulbs, so the two competing themes jammed together and we got Sola Fide. Then everything went to hell.

I cannot and will not recant anything, since it is neither safe nor right to go against conscience. May God help me. Amen."[2]
