Why did he fuck up so badly against the communists? Was it because the Japanese weakened his forces?
>>1338842
because his supporter America suspended the aggressive policy against the communists, for to defeat Japan was expanding the hegemony in East asia came to a first priority for America.
>>1338842
He isolated the peasants which consisted of a big majority in China.
And he failed to shake off the "LE PAWN OF THE FOREIGN DEVILS" image.
To be fair, the CCP had that problem too. Which is why the Sino-Soviet Split Happened.
The US federal government cut funding and gave it to Mao and friends after left leaning journalists painted Chiang an pals as being (more) incompetent (than they were) and that the Reds were better able to clog up the Japanese war machine.
What would happen if sub-Sahara Africa experienced an Agriculture and an Industrial revolution in ancient history?
>>1338737
It did and it started to develop civilisation, then the white man came and ruined everything. Not even a liberal white guilt fanatic, it's just the truth, west Africa was really getting going and then slavery started.
>Inb4 but they sold each other to Europeans!
Yes warring states tend to do that
>>1338748
White man was sailing and colonizing, while the niggs were just starting. Pathetic.
>>1338748
There's some truth and a lot more half truth to this post. West Africa was still up shit creek, unlike what you claim. East Africa, on the other hand, was doing well for itself. The Swahili Coast almost singlehandedly bankrolled the West Indian textile trade and built nearly all of the dhows the Arabs and Indians used to sail. Subsistence agriculture was quite the norm with Congolese or Ugandan slaves used as labor. The males of the household would then take up wage labor jobs on cross-continent caravans only to return during planting and harvest season. Whites didn't really do anything to destroy this, however. Germany, for example, altered the nature of wage labor in modern Tanzania according to local customs in order to exploit it rather than destroying it altogether. What damaged the local customs were the insistence upon cash crop agriculture rather than subsistence, as well as exorbitant tax levies, which led to an armed revolt that was harshly put down and followed by famine as the subsistence agriculture had all but faded away.
What is the best governing ideology for creating and preserving a strong middle class in any given nation?

But first we should ask: what is the middle class? What is its function? How did it come to be?

How are these heathens considered Christian again?
What about literal prostitutes? The Catholics revere at least a few ex sluts.

No sure what is wrong with blessing lots of things.

How would America be today if they had won Vietnam somehow? No Fall of Saigon but Fall of Hanoi.
Would it be appreciated and respected like WWII and Korea? Or would people still regret going over there because of the protests by hippies. Would the Veterans feel better if they had won? Instead of being robbed of whatever victory they could get?
>Would it be appreciated and respected like WWII and Korea?
Doubtfully as much as WWII, probably on similar lines to Korea (though you couldn't really call Korea a victory considering the country was partitioned).
>Or would people still regret going over there because of the protests by hippies.
Hippies would probably still not approve, but more people would chalk it up as "we saved those Vietnamese from some brutal communist regime."
>Would the Veterans feel better if they had won?
Duh. Some would still be fucked from mental/physical injuries but in broad strokes of course soldiers prefer to be victors.

>Muslims pray 5 times a day, every day, including waking up before 4 am
>Each prayer has a specific pattern depending on the time of day, in terms of how many times you bow, what you chant, which way your head faces etc.
>Muslims wash before they pray
>Muslims avoid bacon, alcohol and drugs
>Muslim boys (and girls in many places) are circumcised when they start puberty - i.e. when they're old enough to feel it and remember it
>Muslims follow Islamic protocols in all areas of life: from how to clean your bottom to clothing and inheritence
>Muslims fast for a month each year, to show piety
>Muslims give a percentage of their salary away to charity
>Muslims must make a pilgrimage to their holiest place at least once in their lifetime
>Muslims memorise their holy book, word for word, even if Arabic isn't their native tongue
Is it me, or does Islam make Christianity seem pretty casual?
> What if you die in real life?

Religion is an easy setting, anon.
Explore some of the mendicant and and monastic groups in christianity which aim to join a lifestyle of self denial along with authentic love. Many Muslims live lives of stilted legalism; no religion which boasts simply of formal rites and ethics can fill man's deepest needs.

>In Christianity, only monks from obscure orders get even close to the level of dedication to faith of your average village muslim
But why?
Every fucking space agency needs to fucking get together and fucking transform into a massive space agency and then we can finally conquer the fucking Galaxy. First we need a world language, preferably English because the scientists need to speak to each other and I speak English and Chinese people are fucking annoying. We exclude every single country in Africa because well it's Africa. South America can also fuck off. Imagine what these space agencies could do if they worked together and not separately. Obviously we would need a massive space elevator first to not use all of our resources on fuel. That way we can send it up the space elevator and perform expire men's in space without having to spend millions/billions every time we go up.

Can anyone help me with a question on Leibniz?
I don't really understand the reference to Theodicy on paragraphs 67 - 69 from Monadology.
I have searched several editions and the reference usually appears as something along the lines of (T. preface 40; 44) or yet
(Theod. Pref. [E. 475 b; 477 b; G. vi. 40, 44].), even though the preface only appears to have 37 unnumbered paragraphs.
I imagine it's not a reference to the "Preliminary Dissertation On The Conformity Of Faith With Reason", considering that, when it is the case, the reference is more explicit - as in paragraph 26 ((T. Preliminary dissertation § 65)).
I would be extremely glad if anyone could help me.

Yes. That is why it's fiction.
You are the captain of a sinking cruise ship. You make it to the lifeboat and take charge, as you have the only pistol and the key to the rations chest. The lifeboat holds 10 people, but there are 20 survivors, including yourself. As it was a cruise ship, there is a mixture of young and old, men, women, and children. The nearest island is 5 days away by rowing. You have enough water for 10 days, for 10 people. Its highly unlikely that you will be rescued from the island for a long time. 10 people have to leave the boat. While they can hold onto ropes in the water, if they try to get in, you will shoot them. Also, they get no rations.
You're this guy
Who stays and who goes?

Kill any minorities.
Save only white children.
Mostly the women.
7 women, 3 men.
Make it too island, eat bodies of the dead.
build society as socialist paradise.

Clearly the survivors are bourgeoisie. I would not save any of them.
