Can you guys give me examples of military campaigns akin to Fourth Crusade where shit went hilariously and absurdly not as planned?
What about the time the Austrian army attacked itself?

Karansebes I believe is the name, but whether it actually happened is debatable...certainly a fucking hilarious story though

The deployment of the Russian Baltic Fleet to the Far East during the Russo-Japanese War comes to mind.
should the state fund unpractical fields like philosophy that can hardly be commercialised ?
does the public profit to an extent that justifies funding ?
State-funded philosophy is generally just propaganda supporting whoever is in power
>tfw I have an idea how to find the objective meaning of life
>tfw nobody wants to fund my philosophical research
We must unite the germanic people under one flag for a perpetual pringle producer.
Why must a Jew adhere to all 13 principles of faith? How do we know the Tanakh (Old Testament for gentiles) is as it was when Moses received it?
>>1398719
Google "kariates" and "Samaritans".
>>1398719
Moses obviously didn't receive the entire Tanakh nor was he likely to have "received" the Torah (see JEDP textual criticism).
>adhere to all 13 principles of faith
The Articles of Faith come from 12th-century Rabbi Maimonides and while they are based on Scripture, they are not specifically outlined in the Torah or Tanahk. They are beliefs (like the Nicaean Creed) and not explicit instructions for rules of conduct (with the possible exxception of number 5, Prayer is to God only)

What's your go to /his/ story topic when talking to someone who doesn't study/know too much about it?
Taiping Rebellion, mid 1800s China. In short:
>Dude Hong Xiquan fails civil service exam three times, goes crazy, thinks he's the younger brother of Jesus
>Starts a religious rebellion while China's already fucked with the Opium Wars, does pretty well, all of society under Taiping is a weird fusion of religion and military
>Ends up crushed, up to 30 fucking million people die, Nanjing gets wrekt pretty bad, deadliest civil war in human history
>All started by a Chinese dude who thought he was related to Christ
Probably one of the weirdest history stories I've came upon so far

What does /his/ think about the "destruction" of confederate memorials and statues and the whole flag thing?
It happens when libtards get access to history
Another example of certain members of society erasing the history of a nation state to further promote globalism and multculturalism
Undistinguishable from ISIS's culture-killing antics, save for the less artifact smuggling.
Not only history is written by the victors, it is also erased by them.
What are some "iconic American images" that were seen by a huge audience via television?
I'll start with the moon landing. I can't really thinking of any in the last 16 years though besides 9/11.
1990 Destruction of the Berlin Wall
Challenger exploding

What are some good books on military philosophy and geopolitics/realpolitik?

Read "Revolt of the Majors: How the Air Force Changed After Vietnam."
It's about how the USAF changed after Vietnam.
https://etd.auburn.edu/bitstream/handle/10415/595/MICHEL_III_55.pdf
It's essentially an origin story for the modern USAF. The part that you seem to want is the part where it talks about how each successive president impacted the USAF.
For example, it talks about how Kennedy and McNamara introduced the concept of controlled escalation ("nukes should be our last resort, not our opening move").
What were the largest scale military conflicts (considering the amount of people, countries, area involved) of each respective century?
>>1398085
WWII was, by far, the largest scale military conflict of all time. No other conflict comes even close. Napoleonic Wars were the largest scale conflict of the 19th century. Kind of stupid to list them out separately as they were really just one big conflict. 7 Year's War was the largest scale conflict of the 18th century and you could claim it to be the first true World War as it contained belligerents and battles on every continent. I cbf going back any further than that. Do your own research.
Every century has one huge war.
20th century - WW1 and WW2 (These are the same conflict)
19th century ( Napoleonic wars)
18th century - 7 years war
17th century - 30 years war
16th century - Wars of religion

Free will, man. All He can offer at the moment is a choice between good and evil. The bad part is that you can't always tell which is which.
For his amusement

The obvious answer is because there's no such thing. It's that simple.
