Is philosophy/science/art(?) the only thing that doesn't waster your time and can help you be the best you can?

what?
If religion is a spook, how is it possible that it appeared literally everywhere on the world? I can't name a single ancient civilization without religion or mythology.
Do humans instinctively want an answer for the things they can't comprehend?
>>1412818
Basically every spook appeared independently in various places in the world. Gods, property, kings, whatever you name it.
>Do humans instinctively want an answer for the things they can't comprehend?
Yes, humans are very arrogant creatures and don't like accepting "I dunno" for an answer.
>>1412839
>>1412818
Concepts of what is religion is just unified by the belief that there is a higher being. That itself is not a spook since there is the possibility to exist of something mightier than thou.
Thats the fault on steiner logic, it completely disregards the presence of very real possibilities and "natural" facts unavoidable that are not spooks
For example death, all men must die someday, he cannot spookyfi death even tho its a spooky bussiness.
Nor it can spookify existance although i recall he calls existance and awareness the unique and its spooks its property
>>1412887
He doesn't "spookify" anything. That part of Stirner isn't prescriptive, it's descriptive. If it isn't real, it's already a spook, and all he does is reveal it.
Happy Bastille day /his/

The most influential country in the past 2000 years of European history. Thankyou France for your law, your mediaeval literature, your emperors, your art, your bourbons, your creation of modern cuisine, your philosophy and your military.
People are still a bunch of rude pricks though.

Would you prefer to live in a world controlled by an intelligent computer?
Chill dude, we're getting there. I like to think that facebook one day will be like skynet, become self aware and conquer human species.
It would probably put humanity on a massive birth control program, which i support. But it will also take away freedom of choice, which will suck balls.
>>1412229
do we really have freedom of choice? aren't we control birth in person ? isn t our education who teach us about how many chrildren do we suppose to have ? ARE WE ALREALDY CONTROLLED BY AN INTELLIGENT COMPUTER ?
Why and how was music invited or discovered.
Howcome music is so pleasing to listen to?
What purpose does music have, why do we enjoy listening to music, what advantage does it give us?
I would love to hear your opinion on this.
Thanks :)

it's probably just an extension of the thing every animal does when they're hurt. they move their body repetitively because that does some calming brain chemical shit. pretty similar to getting the same effect from external signals.
>>1412062
Might as well extend that question to art and math while you are at it

Why do retarded spaghetti atheists and neo pagans believe that Christianity was a Jewish conspiracy to infiltrate Europe, while in reality the Jews tried to suppress Christianity from day 1 and were even gravely offended when the goyim started to adopt "their" God?
>>1411969
because atheists are the real pawns of the jews.
Christianity built the west as God created the Earth.
Jews trying to outplay each other all of the time. It means nothing if one group tried to outjew other, if second one perfectly succeeded.

Are we really sure that Hitler is dead?
Yes. He was alive until a couple of years though. He died of old age somewhere in South America.

are we sure he was ever really alive?

Rumsfeld doctrine.
I honestly defy you to give me a war in the last 50 years that destroyed more potential hope than this.
>causes Russia's new democracy to fail completely
>Chechnya ends up as a petty fiefdom where Argentina style disappearances were and are common
>insurgency will never, ever end
>resistance goes from being nationalist to being snackbars, so peace is impossible now
>Chechen snackbars travel around the globe spreading jihad to other countries
>Russia's new police state begins exporting their success to countries like Georgia and Ukraine
Why did the Umayyad Caliphate fall apart?
>>1411783
Overreaching.
Succession issues.
The usual empire crumbling crap
>le imperial overextension meme
It wasn't overextension. The Umayyads just had too many delegates which eventually led to mistrusting them. Delegates from ruling governors to generals, who basically did all the heavy lifting. It was bureaucratic enough to function, but not enough to actually maintain a uniformity of rule (see: different major cities in the empire). Also the family since Muawiyah was led by a lot of lust for power (ironically). By the time of the third fitna, the rulers were obsessed with earthy pleasures and mixed with other factors, let the Abbasids revolt and claim the throne.
Fun fact:
How would medieval street fights go down? Would one knock the other down and keep stomping until a dude died or was there a sense of honour? Did the law get involved at all?
>>1410863
Have you played Assassins Creed II?

>prayer to Saints is idolatry
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oSaayx70zT0
>heaven
>real
No, the problem is that Protestants think that venerating is innately deifying something and prayer is innately deifying something, because they didn't grow up in ancient or Medieval times when you did these things with *all* your social superiors.
>>1410844
Only GOD makes people saints, by faith in Jesus Christ. No man can make you a saint.
Does anyone else get a strong kitsch vibe when you walk into a Catholic parish? I'm Orthodox, so I'm probably biased, but I was wondering if anyone else feels this way?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjCQFufFSOU
>>1410264
a modern catholic parish or an older style one?
>>1410288
Well obviously not in one that's like a thousand years old
>>1410366
I mean ones build in the 1800's or before tend to be very nice, after that they started caring about costs and modern aesthetics and alot of those churches are ugly
Why did monotheism, the most boring of all paradigms of divinity, have to become dominant? Pagan stories and myths are still appealing to us today, whereas the tales of some hairy-assed hebrew getting chastised by a voice from the sky bore us to tears. Even the Christians brought back the equivalent of local gods in the form of saints, starved as they were the spice of life in their conception of the divine. Why the hell did anyone make the switch in the first place?
Just worship money and power 2bh, more practical, fun, and everyone will admire and respect you.
>>1409601
Monotheism is better at creating a unified, coherent community, and thus at dehumanizing disgusting nonbelievers allowing them to be slaughtered and dominated. Polytheism tends to be more tolerant, and thus does not provide the same urge to conquest
