Were the ancient egyptians black, /his/? I always dismissed it as wewuzkangery, but recently I stumbled upon this:
http://www.sacred-texts.com/cla/hh/hh2100.htm
I quote:
" For the people of Colchis are evidently Egyptian, and this I perceived for myself before I heard it from others. So when I had come to consider the matter I asked them both; and the Colchians had remembrance of the Egyptians more than the Egyptians of the Colchians; but the Egyptians said they believed that the Colchians were a portion of the army of Sesostris. That this was so I conjectured myself not only because they are dark-skinned and have curly hair (this of itself amounts to nothing, for there are other races which are so), but also still more because the Colchians, Egyptians, and Ethiopians alone of all the races of men have practised circumcision from the first."
Is Herodotus suggesting the ancient egyptians were black, the same as the ethiopians? Like, even the original greek uses the word Αἰθίοπες.
I don't know what to make of this. Is Herodotus being unreliable?
>>1471009
Georgians were not Egypians and have no genetic connection with them, you should know that herodotus is full of shit and had weird ideas about the world such as Phoenicians originating in Ethiopia that are not supported by anything but myths and misinterpretations-
>>1471009
Egyptians depicted themselves and Puntites and Nubians in the same skintone and shade.
They were black just not the same kind of Black as nilotics.
>>1471053
Um, no, check any tomb portrait and you'll see that the Nubians are pitch black and the Egyptians represented themselves as light brownish, like Arabs
Is naturalistic pantheism the one correct position on the "God" debate?
Idk explain the position first
>>1470823
>correct position

calling the universe God serves no purpose other than to piss off both theists and atheists
What was her fucking problem ?
anglos
eternal anglos burn her village and raped her sister, what do you expect?
schizophrenia
>"Beasts were specially trained to copulate with women: if the girls or women were unwilling then the animal would attempt rape. A surprising range of creatures was used for such purposes - bulls, giraffes, leopards, cheetahs, wild boar, zebras, stallions, jackasses, huge dogs, apes, etc. The beasts were taught how to copulate with a human being [whether male or female] either via the vagina or via the anus." Representations of scenes from the sexual lives of the gods, such as Pasipha and the Bull, were highly popular, often causing extreme suffering, injury or death. On occasion, the more ferocious beasts were permitted to kill and (if desired) devour their victims afterwards.[8] Chimpanzees and mandrills, both in fact ferocious and very powerful species of primate: "made drunk by wine and inflamed by the odor of females of their kind, were loosed upon girls whose genitals had been drenched with the urine of female chimps and mandrills." The victims were often virgins and not infrequently young children. One spectacle is said to have included "a hundred tiny blonde girls being raped simultaneously by a horde of baboons."
MUH DICK
Man, all I wanted to do was be a medieval peasant in Scandinavia and cuddle with a cute redhead, our three children and a bunch of pets, on a straw bed, in a tiny shack.
And here you had to make it all weird.
Truly the apex of western culture.
>One spectacle is said to have included "a hundred tiny blonde girls being raped simultaneously by a horde of baboons."
Citation because I remember someone posting this before, and someone else claiming it was fake.
How did YOU end your existential crisis depression?
Lift weights and eat delicious food.
Hermeticism and lifting and women.
Drugs and boipucci.
Is it fair to say that sub-saharan Africa never developped a high culture because it is relativly small compared with Eurasia?
>>1469624
No, it's because the people who inhabit that part of the world are borderline retarded.
>>1469624
this has to be bait
>>1469624
I don't think that's a good explanation, no. The Peruvian and Yucatan cradles of civilization were fairly small and were more advanced.
Go ahead and ask me anything about Chinese history.

When did the Chinese actually consider Tibet a part of China?
>>1469566
The Tibet-China debate became most significant 1912 onwards. Before that, Tibet was seen as an independent nation whose relationship with China was described by the Dalai Lama as being that of a “patron and priest”, the Tibetan Lamas serving religious duties to Chinese emperors. The PRC claims Tibet was a part of China even since the Yuan dynasty militarily took over Tibet in the 13th century. Now this is me just speculating on what I know on this topic, which isn’t a lot, but I think a major reason why many outsiders refuse to accept post-Yuan rule over Tibet is because the Yuan dynasty was established by Kublai Khan, grandson of Genghis Khan. Apparently, Genghis Khan is seen as a hero in some places in Asia, particularly Mongolia, but I’m not entirely sure about China. To the west, Genghis Khan is definitely a villain and I would assume many would agree that any political activity he did during his and his family reign should be disregarded after his dynasty falls.

Would China have industrialized first had it not been wrecked by steppeniggers?
Why did the Spaniards use steel armors when fighting in tropical places like Mexico?
>>1467853
They actually switched to a thick cloth "armor" that was effective against the Aztec stone weapons.
Because what's the point of conquering anything if you're not going to look cool as fuck while doing it?
90% of the work is aesthetics.

I imagine it scared the natives, who had probably never seen men covered in metal armour.
What utilitarian purpose does philosophy serve in the 21st century?
>>1465771
>muh utility
capitalist meme drone pls go
If you learn the history of philosophy you can also learn the history of politics
>>1465781
I'm not even baiting, I would like to know what purpose is served by mountains of mountains of text about bullshit like metaphysics.
If there's no utility then you may as well classify philosophy as mere entertainment, like TV shows or plays, instead of pretending like it gets people anywhere.
Which country suffered the most as a result of WW2?
>>1465290
With what do we measure "suffering"? Amount of death? Something else?
In terms of death the Soviet Union lost the most, right?
>>1465290
Germany. No one else was a greater victim of war crimes, no one else stood for justice as much, no one else suffers as much to this day.
Germany. Their country got partitioned into two bitch states and cucked for all eternity, their state patents got abolished and subsequently repatented in the US, the German children got brainwashed into thinking that any sort of patriotism is literally Hitler. Literally the biggest nationwide sissification in human history.
You wake up in a world where Germany won WW1 and this is a map of Europe. What do you do?
What nationality am I in this scenario?
>>1465275
>Serbia existing
>>1465275
What caused Italy to turn out that way?
>tfw /his/ always talks about meme philosophers and intellectuals, but never about one of the greatest minds of our generation
What are your thoughts on Noam Chomsky?
A better linguist than political thinker.
>Noam "Khmer Rouge dindunuffin" Chomsky
>Noam "What Cambodian genocide??" Chomsky
>Noam "At least Pol Pot wasn't American" Chomsky
>Noam "Smashing baby skulls against trees is still preferable to imperialism" Chomsky
>Noam "I may have been wrong but based on the evidence I was right" Chomsky
>Noam "Khmer Rouge Don't Bruise" Chomsky
What's his endgame?
>>1468832
He wants to be Lenin. There's one interview where he warns people not to give him power because he "knows what to do with it".
Personal enrichment
To be worship for idiots who can't recognize a professional charlatan like his idols Lacan and Hegel.
What are you studying, /his/? What are your ambitions after you finish?
As for mine:
>Study economics with a minor in philosophy
>Attend law school
>Practice law in some quietNew England town (See: Burlington VT)
Ultimate Reach goals:
>Get in the public eye somehow, become "famous" local, perhaps through some high profile case
>Run for small local government position i.e. Mayor
>Eventually run for something larger like Senator or Governor
A man can dream
>>1463401
OP you should become a selectman or other local politician. it's easy as fuck as long as you promote yourself well! small towns just vote for whoever's name they've been seeing around. my friend just did that.

Why does Potestantism seem so authentic and personal while Catholicism seems like nothing but endless rituals? I really think Protestantism gets closer to the original spirit of Christianity with small groups of believers rather than literally going through the motions in some huge cathedral.
as a protestant, even I know this is bait
Reminder that luther did nothing wrong, he just exposed roman catholicism and pope
