Post the gorgeous Federal Style buildings constructed in America's heyday, between 1780-1830
Try to keep it away from just houses. I mean look at this Old Town Hall in Salem. Doesn't it make you feel a certain way?

I used to pass this building all the time in DC
I really find it cozy and comfy for some reason.

Is dogmatic adherence to extreme ideologies a 20th century phenomena? Were religious peoples in earlier times as ideologically-driven as people in the 19th and 20th centuries? Are secular ideologies more dangerous than religious ones? Is modern man more susceptible to radical ideologies due to social alienation in modern industrial society?
Asking for a friend.
no

They're product of societal and economic changes caused by Industrial revolution and political heritage of 19th century.

Which historical events do you think should be made in to a movie or series?
I think that Dan Carlin makes a pretty good pitch in the episode Prophets of Doom.
In case you're unfamiliar with the story of the anabaptist who took control over the german city of Muntzer:

Id like to see ay movie following a guy stuck in 2 boats filled with milk and honey who is also fed only milk and honey
The Macedonian Dynasty would be pretty good and a breath of fresh air
>>3248935
>a guy stuck in 2 boats
what? how?
is he worth reading?
why do something hard like reading a book and interpreting it for yourself when you could just watch Star Wars and Jordan Peterson YouTube videos?
>>3248715
He's like Weber. Too much of his though is already general knowledge regarding mythology, you've probably heard his ideas in the words of other people a million times.
>>3248767
>implying accepting common wisdom approach to a thinker is good at all
if you're going to try to use Campbell's ideas for anything or are just interested in them, read him yourself. think of all the people who have read and reinterpreted pre-Socratic philosophers, Plato, Bacon, Descartes, Marx, Freud, Nietzsche, etc. because they weren't lazy pieces of shit and thus pushed western thought forward.
Who were some of the best presidents of history, and why?
Hard mode: no assassinated presidents
Probably even harder: no assassinated, no wartime

Lol, within those parameters, Teddy is literally the only legitimate answer.

Harrison was the best president.
This might sound like a dumb question, but did paper look like this back then, or is this just the result of it turning brown-ish over time?
If it's the former, when did paper start becoming white?
Do you literally not know that paper becomes like this with time? How old are you?
>>3248427
Paper turns yellow very quickly. Even leaving your morning paper out in the sun for a few hours is enough for it to turn yellow.
>>3248451
As opposed to figuratively not knowing paper becomes like this with time?
Was the Irgun really the father of modern terrorism? My Jewish professor told me that most of what Islamic terrorists are doing was inspired by the early Zionist militias.
jewish terrorists were mostly attacked military targets
>>3248395
>mfw Igrun is repeatedly called a "militaint group" and never referred to as terrorist on wikipedia
hmmmm
"Terrorism" is as old as imperialism and asymmetrical warfare.
What do you think the anarchist bomb-throwers of the 19th century were doing?

Why do we hate him, again? It seems like his father was the real autist.
>>3248214
He was a degenerate faggot.
Can someone explain to me why he is considered such a great general? I know he instituted a lot of reforms in the Prussian army and organized it well, but McClellan did the same and we don't remember him as a good general. It seems like most of his wars were won by near miracles, or by teaming up with more powerful people. I doubt he earned such a reputation without deserving it.
>>3248214
Well, Russia didn't make him his bitch because their ruler liked Freddy very much. So sad they didn't wipe off Prussia before Catherine wanted to. It really was the progenitor of all European violence.

At the court in Karakorum there was a magnificent drinking fountain called the Silver tree that dispensed wines, beer and milk to visitors. I've always thought it'd be really cool to see the original. Pic related is an old depiction of it.

So if I'm not wrong France after the Revolution to WW2 went like this
>First Republic
>Consulat
>First Empire
>Bourbon Restoration
>July Monarchy
>Second Republic
>Second Empire
>Third Republic
and then 4th and 5th Republics but they are only the product of WW2
did the Revolution shaken France that much, or is there something else here? what the fuck happened for 19th century France to be such a shitfest?
>>3247863
The *nglo and G*rman happened.
>>3247863
Well yeah, the french revolution (and napoleon's successive shitting on the borders of the HRE) was one of the most important events in european history, with ideas of citizen involvement in government and the death knell for absolutist dreams.
France went through a lot in the 20th century. The Second Republic had finally stabilized French politics, but 1870 and the Paris Commune reverted it to chaos. Right after this, France won a phyrric victory in world war one that left them absolutely devastated, and right after that, they went through ww2, and right after that came Algeria.
