Is dogmatic adherence to extreme ideologies a 20th century phenomena? Were religious peoples in earlier times as ideologically-driven as people in the 19th and 20th centuries? Are secular ideologies more dangerous than religious ones? Is modern man more susceptible to radical ideologies due to social alienation in modern industrial society?
