If dragons and dragon-like creatures have been reported in pretty much every culture (Typhon is a good example), is it really so hard to believe that they might have been real?

Dragons from Indo-European cultures probably have a common origin, Proto Indo-European mythology must have had a proto-dragon. Chinese dragons might just be a coincidence (they only resemble Western ones vaguely, in the stories, they are basically gods, while western Dragons are just monsters). And "dragons" in other cultures are usually just big snakes, such as Apep in Egyptian mythology, or Turkish dragons.

Some people also list Quetzalcoatl as a dragon, even though it was just a feathered serpent that looked nothing like western or Chinese dragons. Really, it's probably about venomous snakes. They were present almost everywhere were humans lived and were a danger to them, so no wonder a lot of cultures independently came up with this idea of a giant snake-monster.

Are there any practical reasons for taking Latin in college?
>>
So I only began learning Latin recently and I'm confused on how to turn nouns ending in -x into ajdectives. Consider the word "nox," which means night. If I wanted to say "nightly" in Latin, how do I change "nox"?

King in latin is "rex" and kingly in latin is "regno." Is "nightly" something like nogno? Or are -ox and -ex completely different endings?

I realize the word "noctis" exists (means "of the night" or "night's", right?). That's probably the closest I'm going to get for a good translation of "nightly."

i would like to ask a few existential questions about the human mind if i may. and would appreciate any constructive feedback.

we seems to have reached a point in human existence where we are trying to act in ways that go against our biology. we know how we should be, and continue to tell ourselves that thats who we can be. but out current human minds are held back by baser instincts. our evolutions of the mind and body has massively slowed down due to uncontrolled breeding. so my question is, how can we hope ever be better than we are right now if we will not let ourselves evolve? because we cannot deny who and what we are

please post for further discussion and examples of these ideas

evolution happens most prominently in extreme trying conditions. as we are in our plush world of material comforts, there is little incentive to "push" our limits to "get better" because we are already at the point of being satisfied

>we are trying to act in ways that go against our biology
How so?

a good point. we seem to have forgotten that we will always need to evolve

Why does no one in the modern American left ever talk about this guy? Instead they only talk about foreign communist revolutionaries and marxist philosophers. Was he too white, male, and non-violent?

Yes. They modern American left is concerned with identity politics and Eugene V Debs is the wrong race, gender, and sexuality.

The modern American left consists of welfare capitalists and liberals, not socialists

He believed in the right to self-defense and the 2nd Amendment, he was too violent.

How did chariot warfare actually look like? Were they really fighting from chariots? This things look unwieldy as fuck - low maneuverability, easy to kill or wound horses.

Or maybe they were simply using chariots for fast transport?

Well, if you are referring to the way things are depicted in the Iliad (Which is probably more than a little stylized even before we get into one man armies that dominate the field), it does seem a kind of battle taxi, used for getting to hot-spots or quick escapes, and fighting being done on foot.

However, that wasn't the sole means of chariot warfare. The Egyptians and a lot of other near-east chariot users did a kind of precursor to the horse archer game that the steppe peoples used, often the chariots would form small circles and you'd reload while you were wheeling away from the enemy, and when you were at the point in the circle closest to them, you'd shoot your arrow.

Well. Varied.

Fighting from a chariot involved having a cunt with a missile weapon firing shit at enemies.
Then when all is spent and done and the enemy is still on the field. You hop off your chariot.
Need infantry in one location fast? Get your chariots and grab an infantryman.

Basically the first IFV. Though you never usually charged enemies from a chariot, Chariots did engage people in melee when said people are fleeing.

The last ("civilized") people to use the Chariot was the Indians and the Chinese. While they were cavalryfags like the rest of the world in terms of mounted warfare by the early ADs, they kept the chariot around for the very purpose of being fast troop transport. Especially since later chariot models the kind the Chinese built could seat 4 men.

>>1544838

Thanks guys. So basically chariots were both troops transport and a precursor to horse archers.

I'm completely ignorant in theology, but I have a question. Why is Jesus a prophet in Islam if he reckoned himself the son of god? I mean, muslims don't believe that he was the son of God even if he said that.
Pic unrelated

Muslims believe that Abraham, Moses, and Jesus all heard the word of god, but that Jews and Christians fucked up parts of it, and Mohammed got the final, most complete version.
>>
>>1544687

Muslims don't consider the Bible as word of God, rather as a corruption of said word. Therefore they don't recognize the parts of the Bible which refer to Jesus as son of God.
>>
>>1544687
Accrding to muslims the bible has been falsified, and Jesus/issa(saws ) never claimed to be anything but a prophet.

God created sin by creating the (arbitrary) distinction between 'good' and 'evil'. By establishing the dichotomy between that which he favored and did not favor, he created sin, and therefore, evil. This dichotomy - that good should be 'good' and evil should be the absence of the arbitrarily-defined 'good' - is not natural, for if it were, then it would mean it was uncreated and therefore, as eternal as God, which Christian theology argues is impossible.

Even further, God is not 'good', since 'good' is a quality that was created and cannot have been with him forever, since this would imply what I already stated: that the concept of 'good' is uncreated and eternal, which cannot be if the Christian thought is considered, which states only God is eternal.

Nice sophistry but you should probably study a bit of theology before starting a thread like this

Pompeii skeletons average out at 169cm, so 5'7 seems totally plausible. Caesar was a massive playboy before his high politics days, and he went for rich bored housewives, so he couldn't have been short compared to his peers.
