Why don't they have any facial hair?
>>3251929
But they do
1. three people have beards in your image
2. they liked to pluck excess hair
Ancient Egyptians had an unusual obsession for body hair removal.
Are the Druze a meme ethnicity? Are they ever mentioned in any historical accounts or did they just pop up out of nowhere?
>>3251778
Yeah man they just fuckin showed up one day in 1948 demanding the Israelis give them equal rights
>>3251778
They're a weird group of isolationist Muslims who came around in the middle ages and worship this one Caliph and didn't really do anything besides fuck with every empire who tried to invade them.
These days many Druze are political leftists, supporting groups like the Syrian Baathists or Hezbollah or the communist party of Lebanon.
They are good at war, the Maronites got BTFO a few times in history.

I have one question that I haven't put much thought into, but I'll ask it nonetheless. Why didn't Alexander ever travel by sea? I know he had to conquer to expand his empire, but couldn't he have travel eastward with ships?
>>3251660
Sailing deep waters wasn't possible back then. Ancient people's lacked the technology to go more than a mile or two from the coast.
>>3252742
Holy shit, someone post that old screencap.
>>3252764
It dissapoints me greatly that nobody in the OG thread brought up the fact that the guy probably got his ideas about deep sea travel from the civilization games
HOLY SHIT GUYS!

History... Repeats itself?
Revolutionary France wasn't seeking revenge in the napoleonic wars.
The 1790's revolutionary wars were started against them, and the napoleonic wars were basically napoleon's plans to set his dynasty up in Europe and strangle Britain.
>>3251637
>a charismatic war veteran
Napoleon was born 1769, 6 years after the war ended.
Hitler was a bout as a charismatic as a guy with only one ball, a liberal arts degree, no job and vegan appetite can be.
So much for your "theory"

Try reading about the subject, you'll see it is very interesting.
Hitler declared war on Poland, and there were no green checkmarks on on the "declare war screen" next to the U.K and France like in your video games. Probably didn't expect everyone to attack him, though maybe he should have.
>>3251570
Probably thought that the world wouldn't give a fuck enough to start another European war about reprisal damage to Germany post WWI being undone by germany like 10 years later.
Were Black warriors used as mercenaries by non black empires/kingdoms?
>>3251517
I remember the Egyptian using them as archers (Nilotic and Sudanese Kushitics) and the Moors using slaves-soldiers chained together in the las navas (and some Morocan dinasties used them as a kind of Mameluke/Close slave soldier).
Egypt used them all the time for obvious reasons of proximity. And of course during the imperialist era European powers had mostly African troops keeping order in their colonies in Africa.

I need a source, my man
I need primary/secondary source material or books on the Normans in Normandie, their conquest of Britain and subsequent reign. Any suggestions? Pic unrelated

check books in here OP

Normans in Europe by Van Houts is a good primary source book. Anything by her is good actually. Leonie Hicks has a good summary of Norman history too.
If you want info on the Angevin Empire, then go to Gillingham, and his material. Dunbabin and Brian Golding are good as well.

How does /his/ feel about the Eighty Years war?

The Dutch had three god-tier commanders and were mostly fighting with the approval of the local peoples in their homeland. While the Spaniards were stretched out over three continents, faced with separatism everywhere. Its a wonder the Habsburgs could even hold on to Belgium.

Do you know of any good literature on Van Diemens Land? Specifically the Penal colonies?
There's a really good mid budget Aussie film that follows the story of Alexander Pearce, the first recorded cannibal in Van Diemans Land (Tasmania) ...I watched it and afterwards I looked it up, was amazed it was true.

I'm none of those things, and yet I am not an eye-rolling cunt. Not yet, anyway.

And please, don't fawn over immigrants because you think there is something 'vital' about them, that's parasitic.
Lets discuss argentinian history ITT
Any period or topic welcome
>>3250261
Firstly, nobody lived there. Very sparse, no cities, not much.
Then the spanish came, and they failed to make this area commercially viable, but at least settled it.
When Napoleon took Spain, the locals decided they will govern themselves. A war took place to ensure this.
Then some civil wars took place to decide if they want to be federal or centralized.
And after that two centuries of trying every type of government thats fashionable at the moment.
Thats that. Dull place, historically.
