So who's your favorite Founding Fatherâ„¢?
John Adams is the only non meme choice.
>>1570782
George Washington.
>>1572663
He was obnoxious and disliked.
Just graduated high school and am going to junior college to probably become a history teacher.
Two questions for anyone wanting to help me out:
1.) Should I go to school to become a professor or a high school teacher?
2.) Are there any other professions involving history?
>>1570750
Do you think you will enjoy living with your parents at the age of 28?
Do you enjoy working in the food service industry?
These are two questions you must ask yourself if you are to become a History major
>>1570750
>Should I go to school to become a professor or a high school teacher?
Do you have a desire to teach? Or would you prefer doing research work?
>Are there any other professions involving history?
Museums, archives, libraries.

Why was Protestantism so enticing to Germanics and Nordics of the 16th century? I've heard it was mostly a matter of distance from the Papacy, but that doesn't explain why places so far from the Mediterranean, like Poland or Ireland, never had their kings and populations convert to this new brand of Christianity. Was it really a matter of Papal influence not reaching them? And if so, how did the Church manage to keep power over Ireland, Poland, and etc?
>>1570274
with Ireland it was more to spite the English than anything else.
>>1570274
Herr Luther freed the North from Latin's yoke.
>>1570274
Poland had a Protestant movement but it was crushed by Catholic kings. Bohemia and Hungary were majority Protestant until Habsburg counter-reformation.
>watch this in hopes of watching a good historical dramatization of John Adams
>first episode
>Adams is in Boston for some reason
>He witnesses the aftermath of the Boston Massacre... which never happened
>The British is heard ordering to fire into the crowd and that fucking never happened
>First Fucking Episode
Goddammit HBO... I honestly should not have expected too much. At least they show a British soldier wounded which was actually accurate in the accounts of the massacre. Should I drop this or keep going? I hate one sided biased documentaries and as an American I hate seeing these "didin du nuffin" stories our country likes to tell.
>>1570256
>>Adams is in Boston for some reason
could it be because he was living there at the time
>>1570256
Not only did the Boston Massacre happen, even if it was overblown. The series has him successfully defending the British as in the right. Are you sure we watched the same show?
How did they go from White Mans party to minorities party?
KKK, white supremacists, anti-civil rights, pro segregations and basically every racist politician was a democrat back then
Now Hillary talks about how Whites should do a better job listening to blacks
>>1570255
Parties in the 19th century were almost purely regional in their aims. The Republicans wanted to limit the expansion of slavery in the west because it threatened northern industrial interests. Outside of a few devoted abolitionists, there was no ideological component to political parties back then.
>>1570312
my got pure ideology
Who are history's greatest monarchs, not in terms of conquered territories and generalship, but their civil works and administrative ability?

Augustus is defiantly one of them.
>>1570135
Antoninus Pius was better.

this is a meme thread now
have some OC
So /his/ who did it? I'm interested to hear which suspect you think did it
Shakespeare did it. But he wasn't alone. Actually Shakespeare is a pseudonym comprising a bunch of authors, including Francis Bacon and Cagliostro, that have found the secret of eternal life. Francis Bacon is aka Aleister Crowley, Oswald Spengle, Bruce Willis and that guy from BB.

>>1569664
Class egalitarian.
Why did the Salem witch trials happen?
Isn't the concept of witches a heretical pagan idea?
>>1569462
Witches were people generally believed to have made a deal with the Devil and actively worship him. I believe that this description of people working with nefarious forces within a religion to bring harm to a society is found everywhere.
>>1569462
During the early Medieval period it was, but by the Renaissance the Church came to see witch-hunts as an acceptable way of purging heretics, and the idea persisted until the Enlightenment.

They try to say this is all, but that's bullshit.
They believe things equally as wacky as mormons
>Church is on saturday because 'we wuz jews' and they believe the Catholics changed the day to Sunday to appeace pagans who worshipped the Sun god, and sunday worshippers have the mark of the devil (not withstanding that saturday is named after saturn and christians celebrated the Lord's Day on Sunday for differentiation)
