Uh, okay. What do you intend to do with this?
One of the biggest (possible) what ifs in recent history has to be "what if the republic of china remained in power?" it could have meant a unified korea,
a possible peaceful end for vietnam,
and over all, a more free and prosperous China.
But what does /his think on the matter?
>>1575255
>and over all, a more free and prosperous China.
Unlikely. The KMT was still very warlordlike. They would have likely fallen into yet another civil war within twenty years.
>>1575255
>it could have meant a unified korea,
>a possible peaceful end for vietnam,
>and over all, a more free and prosperous China.
Or nuclear warfare leading to worldwide civilizational collapse.
What-ifs on a massive historical scale are simply mind games, and nothing more.

true the old government had a great deal of flaws but to be honest since were working with mao zedong as the alternative i feel like modern china would be better off
What if Trotsky had taken power instead of Stalin? Would the USSR have been better off by not turning into a totalitarian regime? Could socialism in more than one country have been possible?
>Would the USSR have been better off by not turning into a totalitarian regime
lmao no, they wouldn't collapsed within a decade. A revolution needs some degree of totalitarianism after they've taken power just to ensure stability, Trotsky would've either been slightly less totalitarian or he would've lost control of the entire country.
>>1575226
Trotsky, Lenin and Stalin were all just as bad no matter how many gay communist LARPers cry about it.
Also lol at those fake LARPer names they had.
>>1575226
he was just as much an authoritarian, just look at what he did with the army and kronstadt
difference was, he wanted to keep pushing for world revolution, which absolutely could not work in the condition they were in. the USSR would have collapsed much more quickly.
Why didnt anything interesting happen here until 1492?
Well the Spanish burned the shit out of all the manuscripts of the Mesoamerican civilizations so we don't know if something interesting didn't happen

What are the ingredients that make a particular religion take off or gain dominance, like Islam, Christianity, etc.?
>>1575120
enablisation of the masses
it has to spread through a channel
like a city center or technology (nazism as religion etc, any ideology)
today you have the internet, and surveilance (satelites and shit)
utilise existing infrastructures & institions
printing press etc
ideology is by nature parasitical and it has to attach itself to something/host to spread, like cannabis/drug use/logistic lines of spread use etc
tvs to fractured cause u guys wanna control the masses by dumbfucking themout but ur pissing in the same pond you drink out of
Huge united political force behind it like Roman Empire or Caliphate.
easy moral loopholes and simplistic belief about the world
>Master Morality vs. Slave Morality
Who wins in the end /his/?
Slave by sheer number.
Roman empire and modern Europe both own their demise to the rise of slave morality.
>>1575055 (Me)
But the revenge of master morality is that all spiritual and cultural goods arose during its reign, the slave civilization being content on preserving them while producing nothing of worth of its own.

Were the Crusades just glorified raiding and pillaging? A lot of "crusades" occured while Jerusalem was already under Christian control and were nothing more than a field trip with Moor-slaying in-between visits. Did they have any benefits in terms of economy, infrastructure, trade, anything? Anything at all other than capture-the-flag?
>>1574989
Saladin was a worthy adversary & Richard the Lionheart a decent General. If the papacy wasn't so degenerated incompency the levent would be christian today & you'd have a greater Greek based civilisation through to India, Egypt, & Saudi would be a trade outpost next to Somalia. You'd probably push Asia into a corner & be fighting over the Pacific right now.

Who was the greatest of Napoleon's Marshals and why?
in b4 Ney... bravest of the brave... except for when it counted
>>1574964
They had nothing on the Holy Roman Imperial Army.
>>1574978
lol what.. the Holy Roman Marshals sucked... and it was basically a political appointment... not through meritocracy like in Napoleonic France. Cmon
>>1574964
>Ney... bravest of the brave... except for when it counted
Nah, he was always very brave...but not very clever unfortunately
As Napoleon said, he was good to lead the men in battle and to fight but bad at strategy
/his/ not sure if I'm imagining it or do nations accused of more "atrocities" seem to have way cooler national music. I understand that what sounds good or "cool" is super subjective, but I just think that you can basically rank national anthems and nations which have caused the most suffering and the lists would be almost identical
For example I think soviet songs are just so fucking cool
And the U.s.a. Has some cool ass songs
Rule Brittania and God save the Queen are great pieces of music and the one thing these nations have in common are that they're national anthems and music are boss and that they're all accused of being "bad" at one point or another
But then when you think of nations with no real history of ever being "bad" such as say Sweden or Canada or Australia, they're national anthems and other national music are boring and uninspiring. I don't get it
Does anyone else see these patterns??
>>1574954
nation statism is embarressing
Sweden has a lot of history tho I agree their national anthem is really boring. Anyway the nation's that do "bad" things sometimes need a way to justify it or motivate people to fight for them. The Soviet anthem for example is really powerful as it basically tells the tale of the nation. The red army choir often focuses on powerful propaganda (red army is the strongest is the best example, paints victorious Soviet soldiers fighting the "evil" white Army)
