Almost had a panic attack today just really thinking about dying and the process of it. How do you guys cope with knowing your not gonna be here soon?
You'll probably die before me on account of the obesity and mental problems.
That takes the edge out.

wtf is wrong with japan?
Why did Prussia just pull out of France after their stunning victory in 1871? Why didn't they annex the damn place?
Probably because they knew there'd be reprisals from other nations if they attempted it. Better to just fuck France's shit up and go back to uniting the Germanic peoples.

How is Hobs's Thucydides?
>>1619435
Pure shit, as all old translations are. Read modern translations which don't translate "fucking" as "ravishing".
>>1619466
I don't recall "fucking" ever being in Thucydides

Is it?
Talk about stuff that you're studying right now, ask questions, post pics of architecture and art that you like, even play a few /his/ related thread games, like that one where you go to the first random Wikipedia article that's related to /his/ and post it here
No shitflinging allowed, keep civil, have a nice time. And remember the 25 year rule
might as well bump this thread with some content
Anyone else have a fondness for that WW1 style of grim imagery?
It's so overbearingly dark & nihilistic. It's almost nightmarish. I can't get enough of it.

What went wrong?

Carthage lost the last two wars, thus forever losing the ability to contest with Rome on something approaching an even footing, while still retaining enough wealth and a cultural identity to pose a threat, at least in the minds of the Roman senate.
Couldn't handle the bant
>but Romans weren't barbarians
I see no architecture thread. Lets fix that.
No matter how many times i see pics of St. Peter's Basilica i still think to myself. Holy Shit.
How come it took humans so long to invebt stirrups?
Invent a better way to ride horses right now
Go

The stirrup seems to be the best there is.
Just like how firearms cant really develop much further, or car engines.
They weren't needed and are extremely overrated as an invention.
Lets settle the discussion once and for all.
Define "European" please. It's literally scared white bois tucked away in western asia.

DELET THIS
I've been an Esoteric for a few months now ever since the eternal truth came to me. But now my mind is full of other questions, like how far can willpower go? If I've had a mystical experience, then surely I do have a spirit don't I?
I'd like to get some esoteric discussion going on, especially if any of you are trying magic.
Stop being retarded and pick up an introduction to philosophy.
>>1618664
The esoteric part of religion is a mess. I found it a long time back and stayed in that for 4 years.
I looked for something and could not find it. Nor will you, unless you achieve the honor to become a 33 degree freemason.

Hey guys, this is my first time on this board. In fact, I forgot that it even existed. I originally posted this on /pol/, but I was hoping that maybe if I posted it here, there would be less shitposting and dank memes.
Why does every country have a rectangular flag? Why are they all the exact same size and dimensions? How did this become a thing? Does anyone know the history of flags? Was this a thing that developed independently in all nations around the world.? I'm pretty sure that at least Japan used flags a long time ago before they had made contact with Europe. Did other civilizations as well? Did the modern rectangular style flag originate in Europe, or somewhere else?
What up with that?
>>1618564
It's literally a European thing.
To be specific: literally a late 18th Century European thing, which they carried with them during their colonializing sprees.
For many peoples, particularly in Asia, a flag was merely a signalling device. The State tended to be represented by other, culturally/religiously relevant symbols.
>>1618719
But that isn't exactly true from what I understand. I have heard of there being flags in Iran and India thousands of years ago. Other civilizations came up with flags independently of Europe, I am almost positive of this.
Since when the banks started practicing usury and Why isn't anyone doing anything about it?
It's usually viewed as immoral in almost all religions, but you see bankers from all religions, why do people normally practice such an immoral act?
>>1618515
Protestantism.
The Vatican disapproved of usury. Jews were allowed because they weren't Christians.
>>1618515
Because it's seen as a necessary evil to allow for the growth of economies. Usury is legally defined as more than 28.9% interest anyways.
Because immoral or not, spending money you don't have permits you to do things you wouldn't normally be able to do, and people aren't going to lend money unless they get something out of it.
Hey /his/, tell me about Adiabene. Apparently their rulers converted to Judaism in the first century and donated large funds to the temple in Jerusalam. How the fuck did this happen? I thought the Khazars were the only state to have rulers that converted to Judaism. Did Judaism used to have quite a bit of strength the area of Armenia and the Caucasus Mountains? Could this have helped lead to Armenia to be the first state to adopt Christianity as its official religion?
>>1618470
Semi related, the first non Jewish people to convert to Judaism, the Solomonids, lived in Ethiopia. Ethiopians would later be the first state to adopt Christianity
>>1618470
Monitoring this thread because I haven't heard about it.
Although no, Khazars weren't the only ones. The Himyar kingdom in modern Yemen converted in 3rd century AD.
Also quite a few tribes from Maghreb converted as well, even if it was ever on the state ruler level.

I thought beta israel had been shown to have genetic ties to Jews though (although weak)
