Why did Greco-Roman statutes always have such tiny benis? If I was going to have a statute made of me I'd want a huge schlong.

Have you sat and done any self-reflection on why you'd want a huge schlong on your statue? What, if anything, is objectively better (in the absence of societal cues) about having an exceedingly large penis?

Modern culture equates a large penis with masculinity. Ancient culture didn't and instead equated a large penis with stupidity and animalistic behavior.

As someone who speaks English, French and Dutch on a reasonable level and with an interest in programming, I have to wonder whether it'd even be possible to create a programming language based around a Romance language rather than English. When looking at certain commands/codes like "for each" or "do...while" or "if... else..." I could easily see a theoretical situation where Dutch words replace them, or German words. But never French or another romance language, because they simply would not be able to capture the brevity that explains so much with so little words. So what is it about Romance languages that makes them so "inefficient"?

>Inb4 "not /his", ">>>/g/" etc.
While programming is brought up the subject is mostly philosophy of language, which fits on a humanities board.

Some claim the opposite:

Alternatively look into Russian programming language of the Soviet Union.

How is this board so shit on WWII history?

Its amazing. I'll copy statements from respected and popular history books and post it here only to be ridiculed and told never to post again.

My honest thoughts are the /lit/ commie faggots get too butt hurt if they see any thing good said about Germany.

The anti-pol people are fucking retarded and delusional.

does contemporary moral philosophy have any impact on the real world ?

or is it just about solving unrealistic moral "puzzles" or dilemmas ?

>does contemporary moral philosophy have any impact on the real world ?
No, and it never did.

Not trying to be a cynic or anything, but that's life. The only morality is: what benefits me and earns me more power is good, what doesn't do this is bad or irrelevant.

Moral philosophy is just an attempt to take a human intuition given to us to survive in tribes, and combine it with logic to get crazy results.

It can't truly effect anyone, because our moral sense is inbuilt.

>For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus.

/his/, I know this is not /adv/, but there is more christians on here, and I need help.

For about a year now, I have been considering going christain. But if I were to go christian, I would loss the things I love most, the fiction and nonfiction books I like to read, the eastern and western philosophy I like, the music I like, and even the things I do every day. I've hit a fork in the road, and I have been stuck at it for a whole year. Plus, it's hard to tell what is a "satanist product" and what is not. There's so many different things that go into it, I don't know what to do!

It seems a bit stupid, but I don't know where to go. I've never asked for help and I sense now is the time.

So if any christians on here are willing to help me, that would be great! Thank you.

What does /his/ think is the correct way to categorise the various academic disciplines?

>“Philosophy” is concerned principally with phenomena as experienced by the individual. Qualia, “feelings”, etc. fall into this domain. The purpose of philosophy is to somehow explore/articulate our understanding of these things. I will talk more later about what constitutes a thought discipline, methodologically speaking.
>“Mathematics” is concerned mainly with ideals as conceived of by the individual. Categories, sets, “objects,” and the relationships between them. If Philosophy talks about what happens as experience “enters” the individual, Mathematics talks categorically about what is the relationship between the resulting representations.
>Religion, which is principally concerned with the phenomena that can be experienced collectively. I want to be very specific in saying that I do not believe Religion operates when there are many individuals observing phenomena together. Rather, it requires ego loss – absorption into a group. In such a state, phenomena are experienced collectively. E.g. the group may experience a vision, a collective feeling (Glossolalia, shaking, singing, etc.), etc. The line between the individual and the group disappears…
>Science is interested in idealized conceptions that can be agreed upon by a collective entity. If Mathematics describes the relationships between phenomena as experienced once they are represented conceptually, Science describes the relationships between collective phenomena (things everyone can see, touch, taste, etc.) once they are represented conceptually. Just as Mathematics requires an ideal representation in order to express how the represented thing is related to other things, Science requires a representation (quantitative/systematic) to express how the represented thing is related to other things.

gotta stop you there lad. philosophy is concerned with living a good life. if it doesn't help with the art of living well, it's not philosophy.

Morally? Yes.

If it is immoral to cause harm to others, and harm can be monetary, and it costs money to treat your syphilis, then you are harming taxpayers.

Would you trust someone who has screwed thousands of people to be disease free?
