The US obviously.
>>1670368
America. They raised the bar higher than the USSR could match, so they won. Its like high jump at the olympics, you dont win by being the first to jump each of the lower heights, you win by jumping higher than the other contestants can match
>>1670368
I would say USA. They're the only ones who planted a flag in space.
Do you believe lethal force in defense of property is justified or moral?
>>1668240
No. But on the other hand, I don't believe in a duty to retreat either, and I tend to view defense of self or others in a pretty wide way.
So while I wouldn't object to you shooting an intruder in your home, I would do so to you leaving some sort of deathtrap behind while you and your family go on vacation.
Probably under some circumstances. But I don't like how libertarians pretend how it is somehow obviously encompassed under "self-defense".
>>1668240
Mostly yes, but it depends on the amount of resistance and value of what is being stolen though.
What could the French have done to halt or even reverse the German advance in WW2?
Was the war even winnable for them or were they just too heavily outgunned/outflanked?
>>1669179
>or were they just too heavily outgunned/outflanked?
They were outsmarted more than anything
The German army was only a little more numerous than France and the BEF combined, it was nothing decisive.
As for the equipment, France had better tanks than Germany

What was humanity's single greatest achievement?
Crashing this plane
Probably stone tools.
It's the first achievement that can be attributed to "humanity" and it's a little hard to do the other ones if you physically don't have enough protein in your diet to develop a large brain.
Fire and clothing also fall into this category.

If Islam is such an intolerant religion, why are there multiple faiths that exist alongside it, many of which predate Islam? In Christian countries, the only practitioners of pre-Christian faiths in Europe are either the Jews (who are everywhere) or LARPers/stormfags and I guess the mixing of mesoamerican beliefs and Christianity.
Meanwhile, the Islamic world has Zoroastrians, Coptic Christians, Yazidis, Kalash and Druze, traditional African beliefs as well as Jews. Yes, these faiths have experienced persecution both today and in the past, but the same can be said of any religious minority.
Zoroastrians faced heavy persecutions when Umar conquered Persia.
Also, remember Jizya, which in early Islamic history was a very large source of income.

Christians were mostly converting Pagans and Pagan religions generally don't fare well when confronted with organized religion. Besides, converting to Christianity gave lots of practical advantage to Pagan kings. Namely gave them access to far more civilized and stable government forms.
When Christians conquered some land already inhabited by adherents of organized religions, they more often than not failed to convert them. And mostly they didn't even try too hard. Look at Southern Philippines, India, all those Muslim states in Asia and Africa etc. There was never an organized state effort to convert those areas and numbers of Christians there are minimal.
Islam on the other hand, occupied huge areas already inhabited by adherents of organized religions, then slowly annihilated them.

>Zoroastrians, Coptic Christians, Yazidis, Kalash and Druze, traditional African beliefs as well as Jews
Look at demographics. Those religions are moribound in Muslim countries, save maybe for Copts in Egypt and Meronites in Lebanon. Some, like Kalasha, number just hundreds. We are simply witnessing the final phase of their existence.

Jizyah is similar to Zakaat, in the sense everyone pays a portion of their income. Jizyah was zakaat for non-Muslims.
And clearly persecution wasn't incredibly prevalent considering it took centuries for Iran to become majority Muslim. Often, we find Shi'a clergy exaggerating the violence of Umar et al against our forefathers (as Iranians) to create hatred for the opposition. And often, we find it mistaken for events during the Mongol invasions. People in my own family still believe the river running black with ink is was Umar and not Subutai Khan or whoever it was during Baghdad.
And I don't like Umar and pals either.

Seriously what is it with people thinking German tanks were any good in WWII? They were rubbish all of them, infamous for having all sorts of problems.
The British tanks on the other hand were superb, an achievement of British engineering. A force to be reckoned with.
>>1668935
Because in WWII everything that the british used looked fucking ugly

>Seriously what is it with people thinking German tanks were any good in WWII?
Don't know, but the counter meme that they were totally useless isn't much better. I suppose your parodizing that sentiment, right?
Because the Germans achieved the most impressive strategic results with their tanks.
Up until 1942, of course.

Why didn't the Americans issue their troops real general purpose or light machine guns at the squad level like intelligent armies did?
Surely with their industrial capabilities it should have been easy.
Why settle with the BAR, literally worst weapon in all possible ways?
>>1667794
It's greatest strengths were that it was cheap to make, and the biggest selling point, it was very light. Meaning squads didn't have to haul a machine gun that dedicates a member of the squad to just carrying it around.
having that much firepower in a gun that's only 15 pounds, where your standard machine gun can clock in at 35-50 pounds was a huge selling point for infantry mobility.
It's not as good as a light machine gun, but as a highly mobile squad support weapon, it did its job.
>>1667794
1) The USA operated on the belief that "soldiers will waste ammo if you give them a lot of bullets." So better what essentially is a 20 round rifle than Automatics for errybody,
2) Only Germany had an LMG. Shit like the Bren Gun could also be considered a fucking Automatic Rifle for all the ammo those things carried.
Need your honest opinion, /his/. Do civilisations collapse because of 'degeneracy' (defined vaguely as anti-traditional behaviour)?
What does /his/ think of the work of John Glubb, specifically 'The Fate of Empires'? Will post a couple of images of it, but it breaks down to:
>Assyria
>Persia
>Greece
>Roman Republic
>Roman Empire
>Arab empire
>Ottoman empire
>Spain
>The average age of each of those civilisations was 250 years. Each followed the exact same pattern of growth, decadence and then decline, quite often with analogous social movements and whims.
What are the accepted models of civilisational collapse and/or some required reading on the subject?
Serious answers only please. /pol/shit not welcome in this thread.

>>1667337
Civilizations collapse because they cannot afford their military or can not afford enough to defeat outside forces.
Most of the time this has nothing to do with degeneracy, but rather over extension of the forces.
Really, the Romans fell but the Byzantines did fine until 1453.
It was because the west failed militarily while the East kept up their might.
