How would western Sub Saharan Africa have developed if America had never been discovered?
>>1770568
That's a pretty big if that we can never be certain of. But here's some thoughts just for fun.
It's my understanding that Sub Saharan Africa was relatively sparsely populated at the time of early colonialism, while Europe was having a population boom. Without the Americas to expand to, Africa might've been flooded with many more Europeans than it was. Instead of having slavery as it was in the US, the Spanish may have implemented a sort of cast system in Africa like they did in some parts of the Americas irl.
Since Africa would be built up for Europeans to live in instead of just for resource extraction, it may have ended up being much more developed up until the Cold War. The most likely unpopular caste system may lead to big Communist movements on the continent and wars. Today much of Africa might still be more developed than it is irl, and would probably be more diverse with lots more whites and mixed race people.

There's no telling the cold war and communism would have even occured. Hell for all we know the Ottomans would've been in control of the Vatican in this scenario. There really is no telling what would of happened and it gets more speculative the further in history we go.
Probably somewhat better without triangle trade.
If religion is against hedonism, why every religion is something pleasant to believe in? There hardly exist any religions based around evil beings or a some other kind of really pessimistic messages.
There are many forms of pleasure.
Graceful peace is where most religions tend to point to.
>>1770639
Almost always you need discipline in order to make yourself better, religion is something like that
>>1770639
Even graceful hedonism still a hedonism in its core.
Tips for learning Spanish? I fell for the no translations meme and decided to enrich myself a little bit so I've been doing duolingo, I've also picked up a couple Spanish readers with en face English translations. Unfortunately I live in the great white north and I don't know any Spanish speakers but I'm on the hunt.
Anyone have any specific books/online courses/tips to recommend? Also wondering if there are any broad-strokes concepts that would help to understand the language on a more theoretical level that I'm missing with online courses that work by rote, more or less.

Honestly you have to just be in a place that only speaks spanish to force your brain to latch on to any info given to you

that's what i figured. i'm just going to go to panama.

Yea thats good they already are americanized so the transition should be easier but preferably it needs to be like 2-6 months
>mfw commies claim capitalism and fascism are two sides of the same coin, yet they're the ones who joined forces with capitalists against fascists
They joined sides with the fascists against capitalists before that.
It's really more like the fascists decided to fight everyone at once, because out of the three, fascists are the dumbest.
>>1770262
fascists endangered the profits of the international bankers the most*
That's WHY they're the dumbest, but a bit more specificity helps m8.

> fascists are the dumbest
> muh money
> muh equality
Nice opinion here. In reality, right wingers are the most educated and intellectual people you even got chance to know in your life. They are only one who learned to think in complex context and terms of population future, national ideas and degeneracy prevention.
Who is truly responsible for WW1?
Obviously you can only choose between A-H and Germany since, as you can see pic related, it's the only choices that make sense
A Serb kills an Austrian official.
Hard to untangle the chain of events.

>A Serb kills an Austrian official.
Cool story bro
If an American nutjob kills a Russian official, will Russia be justified in invading the US?
>>1770145
Germany and A-H turn a balkan shitshow in a global war by pure autism.

According to historians, when the muzzies conquered the Sasanian empire, most people living in the empire were no longer Zoroastrian. And that's the reason for the very small Zoroastrian population today
>N-nobody was forced to convert and there was no genoicde. I-Islam is a religion of peace. They're so tolerant Zoroastrians were considered people of the book
So what religion did the commoners practices during the last days of the Sasanian empire?
>>1770037
Zoroastrianism

It took a couple of hundred years of societal pressure but eventually Iran became a Sunni powerhouse.
Then the safavids turned them Shia under threat of death in a single generation, which is quite remarkable.
Funny how historians always make a pass for Islam. It's the same in India.
>all those chroniclers documenting massive slaughter of Hindus are just engaging in poetic license and hyperbole, Islam is the religion of peace and the Muslim conquest of India was done through assimilation, not warfare
>besides, Hinduism was invented by evil Brits to divide the Indian people
Irish anon here, how was John F Kennedy perceived with respect to his background?
Was he seen as an agent of the Papacy?
Was he seen as betraying the Anglo foundations of American society?
He had to promise that he would resign if the Church ever put him in a situation that would contradict his role as president during the election
/r/ing the irish conspiracy infographic please!
I wonder who was behind his assassination....
Could a communist revolution happen in the present day?
Is it something that can happen on its own or does it need to have the support of a larger communist state? i.e. china, NK, Cuba etc.
I highly doubt we'll ever see anything like that again.
>>1769807
Maybe not in our current society, but the increasing rates of automation might create revolutionary conditions if there isn't an alternative to be found.

I don't know if it's the right place to ask, but what could possibly bring back to life the melee combat in modern warfare? Or there is no way it would be as widely used as in the past cause of the firearms?
Doesn't make any logical sense, why run at someone when they can just as easily shoot you from 100m
That doesn't mean officers aren't still required to wear them for official business
>>1769632
If you are asking sincerely and relating to the real world: the answer is almost certainly nothing.
If you are open to vast speculation beyond fantasy: it would take some sort of catastrophic event that sends humanity back into the stone age (which I concede effectively eliminates the 'modern' part of your question), OR there could some day be a form of incredibly pervasive authority over mankind that for some reason has eliminated any sort of weapon technology beyond simple melee weapons.
A fantasy example of the latter would be found in the Gor series by John Norman, in which highly advanced aliens effectively ensure that weaponry is not permitted to advance on an Earth-like planet while still allowing all other forms of technology. Galactic dictatorship.
>>1769632
>but what could possibly bring back to life the melee combat in modern warfare
Kinetic barriers. Yes, it's unrealistic science fiction shit, but still the least unrealistic idea.
Was Generalplan Ost a meme?
Even for the Nazis it seems pretty far fetched to deport/exterminate 100 million people. It sounds like when they fantasize about retaking Africa and splitting India with Japan.
>>1769582
>it seems pretty far fetched to deport/exterminate 100 million peopl
It wasn't meant to happen over night and they were already 5th of the way there when WW2 ended.

I'm searching for information about this ring that came into my possession.
It's pretty beat up, and it looks similar to the style of trench art of World War 1 German/Prussian rings.
Take a look at this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Germany-WW1-Ring-Patriotic-Prussian-Flag-Trench-Art-WWI-1914-1918-German-Prussia-/401198903897
Pretty similar. On the side of my ring the following is written:"14-16". Could it be from someone who was involved in the war since 1914-1916? Discuss.
Forgot to add that I'm from Slovenia, which fought on the side of Austria-Hungary, so actually it's more likely the ring was made in the Isonzo Front.
