Vedanta is the philosophical core of the Vedic religion, the oldest religion in the world.

Many European philosophers, such as Schopenhauer, were impressed by it.

Discuss here the various interpretation of Vedanta: Advaita, Visisthadvaita, Dvaita...

Was Adi Shankaracharya the greatest philosopher in Indian history?

What's the best way to study Vedanta?

Well, the oldest religion would be animism.

Let me rephrase that, then:

The oldest of the major religions of this world.

what are your opinions on psychology, is it what failed wanna-be psychiatrists go to study, is it a science even, illuminate me with your unbiased and properly argued opinions.
also will I get a real job after getting a master degree in social psychology?

Psychiatrists are just legally sanctioned drug-pushers treating symptoms locally, motivated by no concept of the greater pathology.

Psychology is evenly divided by genuinely incisive work on cognitive biases, psychometrics, decision making, research on schizophrenia is also very interesting. Then there's an ocean of junk using research work as a facile career vehicle.
>>
>>1791429
>>1791413
No. Most of psychology is social work+. The common psychologist focuses on 'application'. In honours they bitched about how theoretical the course had been and our statistic classes were basically Stat program tutorials rather than mathematics.
It's in a disgusting state.
Psychiatry has its own problems and is full of snooty fuck wits but that is beside the point.

While psychology is very much a science it is being misused and, if you look at the recent peer reviewing, huge swathes of research is being falsified.

I hope you cunts save the field. If you don't the only legitimate sections left will be cognitive neuroscience and sensation based research.
>>
>>1791413
Social psychology is even the worst of all the subfields present in psychology. Out of all those, social psychology has the worst rate of reproducibility: about 25% of the studies are being replicated true to the original hypothesis. That leaves the remaining 75% of predictions as having no basis in observations. Say heads or tails twice. Now throw up one coin twice; you need to be correct in both instances; that is how often theories of soc psy are holding up in reality. Do you like those odds? Is that the sort of field you want to spend your life in? And you can forget a job in socail psychology, the degree means nothing. Acquiring a job will dpend on social networking and various other non-job related accomplishments. You should seriously reconsider alternative options.
>>1791480
Cog neuroscience is dogshit as well. All that brain activity is only now, after decades of research, turning out to be fundamentally flawed.

What made Soviet Union collapse?

I have seen that most Marxist-Leninists blamed revisionists and Capitalists blamed Socialism overall.

What is the truth /his/?

Period of Stagnation between 1960s and 1980s, though, this period was the single best time to be alive in the USSR, if you ask people alive of the era, it's called the "Era of prosperity".

USSR was hit hard by the oil crisis which put it's budget in the red (though honestly, not that much) and Soviet production came grinding to a halt come the 80s.

The USSR fell apart though because Gorbachev was incompetent. This, is the single reason the USSR fell. Literally no one predicted it would collapse, not even the CIA, honestly, it wasn't even that bad off, there are many countries in the world today, that are far more fucked than the USSR was in 1980s and they are not collapsing. It wasn't even drowning in debt.

Basically, in the period of extreme political instability caused by Gorbachev going full retard, which caused the "hard liners" to coup, Yeltsin, backed by the US, seized power and the USSR was dissolved.
