I remember watching something about this on the History Channel before it turned garbage. A guy talked about rigging two magnet poles so that if somebody walked between them with a gun (or anything metal) it would cause a rather large explosion. He didn't give the impression that this sort of thing was common, but when it did happen, it was very brutal.
