Why did people continue to worship god/obey authority when the Black Death was claiming one out of every third person? Isn't that a pretty good sign that there's nothing special about them?

Also how come there are so many pictures of smiling people dancing with skeletors

Well that's two separate questions. First of all Christians believe that God has wiped out all life on Earth before and plans to do so again. It's not hard to believe that they just assumed the plague was God wiping out human life because they were bad.

As for the skeletons, dancing skeletons were common back then due to how many dead people died of the plague. Historians are unsure why they were so happy.

go read The Decameron, it gives a pretty good insight into this because Boccaccio actually lived in Florence during the black death and there's a brief but interesting primary account of it.

What's just as interesting is you can see from the rest of the book (which is a collection of short stories) to what an extreme degree respect for the church and sexual morality had degraded.

When did the tradition of wearing red trousers start and why?

When the women soldiers would get periods it stained the pants red, so women soldiers were given red pants since you cant always wash your clothes in the field, and you can't just stop your period, but then it became easy to spot women and men would shoot soldiers without red pants first so they hoped the women would surrender when half the army was gone and then they could rape them, and the men didnt like dying first so they started wearing red pants too and the rest is history

Argentina and Venezuela instituted hardcore protectionism in the 1950s. They then dropped from Norway-tier GDP per capita to utter shitholes despite having plentiful economic opportunities including extremely valuable natural resources and educated populations. To this day, Argentina is still held up as the absolute worst example of how to fuck up a potential economic superpower.

Venezuela proceeded to make this even worse in the 2000s when a flat-out socialist (Chavez) took power. He nationalized several industries, drove away foreign investment, and sent his currency into a ridiculously high inflation to pay for social programs. Now Venezeual is almost Iraq-level, with food riots and a skyrocketing murder rate of 62 per 100k people, the third highest in the world. The socialists managed this despite Venezuela being an oil-rich country on the doorstep of the world's largest oil consumer.

Chile elected a socialist named Allende who ruled from 1970-1973. He instituted expensive social programs and hardcore protectionism. Inflation rose to a peak of 140% per year under him, while real wages dropped to less than a third of what they were, temporarily giving Chile a GDP per capita on par with some Sub-Saharan African countries. He was eventually deposed by his own military. This new government and its successors basically did the opposite of everything he did. Chile progressively got better and is now the most well-off country in Latin America, with almost first world standards of living.

Think about it, he had a peoples where the average were not very happy or particularly trusting of the government during the 30's-41 (firsthand source from grandparents who lived through this, they had the most average and calm life, ethnically russians), and upon the war, the vast majority if not everyone, felt a sense of strong unity and will to stand together against a vicious foe. This sense of unity and will to work together continued long past the world war well into the mid-late cold war, even among ethnic minorities (source, grandparents, parents, friends of ethnic kazakh, caucasian, ukrainian, and a few others), prior to this war and this phenomenon effect of the feeling of unity, apart from some overzealous youth and extensive propaganda, there was no such sense of unity or will to stand together.

Stalin would have done this as his final step towards complete control over the huge nation the ussr, as he would have complete loyalty from his higher staff and have no chance of lower units of the military to rebel or mutiny due to the purge and fear of being purged further. Standing as the leader on the proverbial white horse of the nation during the times of dark war, people would worship him as being the savior of the people, the supreme commander. This plan would have worked, as evidenced by an even still continued mass adoration of him by descendants of the great patriotic war.

Now you ask, why would he purposely have half of his army decimated in the initial stages of barbarossa? The question really is, why not? He would have the complete support of the people of wanting to beat back the fascist due to everyone experiencing some family or friend loss, driving them to work harder and together out of anger and desire for complete victory (source, grandparents, grandparents and parents of friends). Knowing that the west is primarily focused on demonizing germany at the time, he would probably get foreign support as the news of "brave soviet fighting evil nazi" gets to them.

I am not in the most awake state nor the most sober state, and I mainly loosely developed this theory during my breaks, and before bed, so please forgive any obvious errors in thought.

So this will be a longish post

I am getting really interested in the Inter-War years as I feel they are horribly neglected for many reasons, I also read a few George Orwell books (not the big ones which I sadly never have read, more the Road to Wigan Pier) and it struck me that this man went off to Spain to fight

My question is how orginised was the Republican side in terms of fighting strenght? I know the nationalists had support of the army mostly but there must have been some professional units serving who detested the militia like factions of anarchists, Communists and others roaming Spain and getting rekt

The republican side was really fucked in terms of organization because the right wing had many different ideological movements. Actually, Republicans fought anarchists many times and obviously, that decreased their military power. The main problem of the right wing here in Spain is that it has always been divided in many diferent groups, while the left wing has always been together. Nowadays the same is happening. While the left wing parties support each other, the right ones just disagree and aren't able to keep a relation between them in order to get stronger. That's bullshit. Even when fascism was threatening the whole country, socialism and comunism didn't have a good relation.

Do you want to know the meaning of life?
What our purpose on earth is?
Why things exist the way they do?
Have dreams of being the Messiah?

Mysticism is the one true religion. Chrisitianity is a mystical religion. Christ was born an ordinary man who achieved a permanent state of Divine consciousness(sahaja samadhi).

You have a soul. There is a part of you that endures day to day, through moments of awareness through moments of sleep. You are a substantial unity. What is special about this substantial unity is its knowing. Much like how computers are informed of data sets, you are informed of your own knowing. You know that you know, or you are aware.

This can be imagined as the buddhi, a sphere of mental matter with infinite facets of knowing which are all radiating simultaneously. What is known as Love is the harmony of this self-knowing.

God also possesses a self-awareness.

Part 2 The Face of God

Brahman(from the sanskrit root Brih: to expand) is said to be Infinite Existence-Awareness-Bliss. An interesting pattern emerges if we investigate this concept by looking at its informational structure.

God is firstly existence. The interior structure of existence is existence. There is an infinite chain of existence being informed by existence. Then because existence is whole, existence is informed of itself, making each bit of existence within all infinite bits of existence and contain each bit of existence.

The whole is informed of itself fully. God knows itself. Again, the whole is informed of itself fully but this time it is informed of its informing or knowing. God knows that it knows or is given Awareness and subsequently Bliss(the harmony of self-knowing.) (note: God at this step is similar to our own awareness, except that each mote of bliss is clearly perceived individuated and while also experiencing the infinite spaciousness of existence)

God possess the attributes of Omniscience and Omnipresence. His Awareness is spread through out the whole uniformly. At each piece of bliss, a new whole arises at that point. God multiplies Himself by Himself in addition to his original Self. The process continues, the new whole again arises at each point of bliss. The process continues infinitely.

Mathematically we can look at it like n+n2, where n is the previous sequence of the set starting with infinty : ∞, ∞+∞2, ∞+∞2 + (∞+∞2 )2, etc... We will call this set of infinities Alephࡗ(which will come in handy later).
God is an infinite expansion of infinite existence-awareness-bliss.

Can we talk about Taoism and it's history /his/?

I find this philosophy/religion fascinating, it is the only major Chinese spiritual practice free of dharmic (foreign) influence, and can be compatible with almost any other religion.

What's there to really talk about it other than it exists?

Taoism is probably one of the most unremarkable religions out there, literally no relevant conflicts to speak of

It's social science and/or sociology. It just so happens that when dealing with economics, you're dealing with money and other things that are quantifiable, and you can derive mathematical models, as opposed to other sociology where things are often more qualitative.

It's like history: it's own thing. It's not too irrational to be humanities nor too rational to be a science.
>>
It's a science that is really hard to test - just like Psychology. Still 100% a science though.
