I'm not up on my ancient history, but I've read a bit that people believe he was either poisoned, or contracted a STD that made him go off.
Not up on my ancient medicines/poisons, or understandings of mental health. Which seems plausible? Neither, or both?
Beautiful quote;
Essentially, "I will be remembered throughout time unlike all other men, therefore I am a continuum like God."
Genius...
>tfw you realize Catholicism is the only religion that stands up to philosophical scrutiny
>its thinkers and tradition make some really compelling arguments
>every single day is spent juggling between belief and disbelief, can't commit to anything and don't want to abandon my hedonistic life for joyless abstinence
>start going to church, shift between genuinely enjoying mass and feeling like a retard
How do I deal with this? I'm sure some people here have been in a position where they feel extremely conflicted between pursuing a Christian life or continuing with agnostic apathy.
Are there any ideologies or historical works that provide serious criticism on Catholic philosophy instead of easily dismissing it?
>>1908863
>joyless abstinence
Read Kierkegaard my dude, it's not like that.
>>1908863
>philosophical scrutiny
How about biblical scrutiny? We all know it can't stand up to that.
>>1908863
>pursuing a Christian life
But you said Catholic, you can be either Christian or Catholic, but not both.
was he overrated?
>>1908839
completely, he unleashed hoards of blacks onto a civilized white civilization and succeeded in killing 600,000 of America's finest
I wonder what kind of president he would have been if South Carolina didn't secede
>>1908861
not even he would know
Is there anything good out there discussing alternative histories? Anything decent?
Could be books, podcasts, videos, whatever?
>alt history
So you want shit storytelling
Harry Turtledove does some good stuff, with the only thing being his early works all have cringy sex scenes. He has a series called Timeline 191 about if the South won the civil war.
>>1909569
>He didn't like the scene of an elderly George Custer having sex with a prostitute
I'm a sinner and I want to find God
I have no idea where to start
Should I read the Bible? What books do I read?
>>1908442
Go to a good church, preferably a protestant one. Baptist churches can be good depends on whose the preacher and what not. Find this good church and attend, and ask the preacher there to help you let Jesus into your heart. He'll do the prayer and you will then must repent from all of your sins. Read the bible afterwards and follow God's principals. Good luck, space cat boy
Go talk to a Catholic priest and take it from there.

Does Denmark have an interesting history?
besides the vikings what else is there? specifically post reformation what have they done that has an effect on the world?
They're very good pig farmers. The best in the world infact
>>1908271
EU had a bigger issue with Canadians and Faroe islanders quickly killing animals out of meat and tradition than Danes and others torturing pigs to death so some fatty may slam his face full with another bit of testosterone filled meat.
Really makes you think.

>>1908226
>>originally intended as a critic for modern art being literal shit
thats not entirely true, it was more of a questioning of what art even is and in what context ot even exists, in the spirit of arte povera and duchamp, things like 'everithing a artist does/makes is art', which then developed into 'everithing anyone does is art' and also in a sense it was a way to troll critics, not in the sense so much of trying to be insulting to them but to sort of make a exemplary demonstration of how the whole system works and what it would do with literal shit just cause it was conceptualised into 'art'
there were many such shenanigans in conceptual art, and a whole movement questioning the concept of art
Why did the British Empire cede control of India/Pakistan/Bangladesh?
Because the point of colonies is to make money, and they weren't really financially viable any more what with the world wars and the Yanks and the reds, and Gandhi and shit.
>>1908091
Too expensive to protect, not profitable enough to keep, and a growing and increasingly assertive independence movement with popular support in Britain and India
>>1908105
You're telling me that a completely militarised Britain couldnt control Indian after winning World war 2?
Would Imperial Japan's tank force have been effective if used in the Pacific theater or CBI theater.
>>1907620
No.
It probably wouldn't have been effective in any theater, as their tanks were bad and their tank doctrine was worse. But it's not exactly like tiny islands or mountainous jungle is great tank country either.
>>1907620
Considering it was used in both the Pacific and CBI, and they got fucking steamrolled in CBI by Slim with Lees and Stuarts, they weren't effective at all.
>>1907620
Their tanks were used mainly for infantry support, and were most effective at the beginning of the war because the Brits and Americans thought that tanks were useless in jungle terrain, hence why the Japanese were able to make substantial gains early on. Their experience with the Battles of Khalkin Gol against the Soviets really showed them how poor their tanks were against other tanks, but because they only encountered armor in Manchuria and not in the Pacific creating effective anti tank weapons was pretty low on their list of priorities. It wasn't until the Americans showed up like >>1908124
said that they really saw how shit their armor was. The Chi Nu that you posted and other projects were at least equivalent to the Shermans they started seeing, hence why they reserved them only for defense of the Home Islands.
What is the best ethical theory, and why is it Role Ethics?

when Aryans are from India and non-white
It always confused me why hitler being a white nationalist, would link himself to non-whites
always confused by this
If the Indians rebelled full scale, it would mean the British get supremely fucked. Plus in every world history book it still says that India was founded by Aryan invaders. Most Indo European peoples have similar pantheons, suggesting an evolution from a common source.
>>1906644
Back then Aryan was generally synonymous with Indo-European, who Hitler believed were a race of blonde supermen.
>>1906644
>hitler being a white nationalist
that was for the general population, inner circle nazi ideology was a lot weirder
also hitler lied all the time so there's no evidence to think he believed in anything he said
Confucianism destroyed China. Discuss.
Care to explain?
is this what hitler wanted?
