No, not really. He was much more like the julius caesar of his day. He is very much revered in France, Russia, and to some extent in the US. He was known as a good general. He managed to conquer and hold his empire for a period of time.

So it's something that occurs completely within the realm of the subjective? Has the topic not been explored rationally somewhere? I imagine the very notion of a consciousness opting to end its existence, against the very strong instinct of self-preservation might have attracted some philosophical consideration. I agree that rights don't exist independent of a set of values; and the only case I can think of where the argument of this being a human right or not (read: this being a right we want to grant members of a society) is euthanasia.
