"an embarrassment and a potent symbol of the depths to which the Russian academy and society have generally sunk ... since the fall of Communism"
"keeping alive an imperial consciousness and secular messianism in Russia"
Yeah, those kinds of argument always make me suspicious
you're gonna have to explain what the fuck you're talkin about first m80

That is what some of the critics of these books say.
I dunno breh, Russian universities have been pumping out some truly laughable shit since the collapse of the USSR.
What the fuck actually happened?
Aliens
Radical Islam
Falmers
Why don't Sunnis and Shiites get along after all these years?
Christian's don't quarrel with each other like they use to so why can't the different branches of Islam get along?

on /his/ they do

arabs nature is to quarrel. its their culture.
Who was the best nazi? I pick Hermann Göring because he was a badass ex-fighter pilot who got pussy and had swag.
He also ran an insurgency against the German invasion in Yugoslavia simultaneously just for the kicks...and won!
Truly amazing!
Goebbels because feels.
Because he was fucking hilarious.
Wait, if Joseph was a carpenter, does that mean he likely made crosses for the Romans to crucify people on?
The Jews didn't crucify people, so I'm not sure they'd be making the crosses for the Romans.

Reminder that if you consider yourself an oldfag and you have never watched the Greatest Story Never Told then you are disillusioning yourself about 4chan culture.

Jesus being a carpenter emerged out of a mistranslation of the Greek Word "Tekton." Meaning "Craftsman." Anyone occupying a skilled job.
If Orthodoxy is the true Christianity, why didn't God intervene to grant victory to the Russian Empire over the heathen Nips in 1905? Or why did he allow the godless Bolsheviks to prevail?

>implying backwards pagan norms about which chief is the biggest and bloodiest applies to Christianity at all
Read a book, heretic. What is it about the "kingdom of god" not being on earth is so hard to understand?

How about the Bible? Does Yahweh promising victory for exclusive worship and allowing defeat for failure to believe in Joshua count?

>implying Faith isn't tested
Is easy to believe and live a Christian life in comfort, right? God can take it all away in a heartbeat, it humbles people. Yet Orthodoxy survived heresies, Roman Catholics, Islam, and Communism. The True Church won't end.
Currently working on an essay for College. I am writing about the battle of Stalingrad, Does anyone have a pdf of Last Letters from Stalingrad or anything similar?
My grandfather grew up in a post war Stalingrad, he lived in an apartment block full of men who served, one of them served in a blocking detachment, I could post that if you're interested. But I do remember saying that throughout the 40's and up until 1954, there were shit tons of German POW's in the streets, all of them helped in rebuilding the city. They lived in a small camp right outside the city and my grandfather and his friends would come and look at them for fun, or they were passing by the camp. When he did pass by the camp many of the men would stop him and try and get him to go and get them milk, tea or coffee from the city in exchange for the candy or something with sugar, they got from their daily rations. He said that he would do the trade but he hated doing so because when he touched one of the POW's he'd shudder just because he thought they were literal demons, he'd also have to do this when the guards weren't looking or else they'd send him the police and the police would send him home and make sure his mom spanked him, but my grandfather was an idiot and kept doing this cause he loved candy.

Please post whatever first-hand accounts you can. My main focus of my paper is the mental effects the constant fighting had on the men during and after the battle.

I've always been fascinated by ancient languages generally, and how language has been shaped and changed through time.
Which ancient languages do you guys think are more important?
Is Classical or Church Latin more important to a historian/ more important to learn?
Where are good places to start learning ancient languages?
Bump for curiosity

> Which ancient languages do you guys think are more important?
Ancient Greek. All the ancient philosophy and 70% of history was written in Greek. Even Romans themselves wrote all their serious stuff in Greek, and it you're into the early Church history it's 99% Greek.

What sources do you recommend for learning? Any online ones?

Second biggest meme general of the Second World War, after Rommel.
Displayed no particular tactical or operational skills, certainly not enough to justify his reputation. Was most (in)famous because of his personality and his willingness to showboat for the press.

Why did no one in Japanese history ever depose the Imperial dynasty?
Proper respect for divine authority unlike Soviet pigdogs. Even during the Shogunate the Imperial personage remained unmolested.
The same reason we still have a Pope.
>>1979432
Sure, but why?
The powerless Emperor was also present in China during the Spring and Autumn and the Warring State periods. Zhou emperors were also sacrosanct and considered necessary for performing religious rites. Yet, they still got deposed after centuries of unmolested reign.
I couldn't think of anything else besides the Sassanid Empire today.

How could Anyone say "no" to this beauty?
Was ancient Greece the manliest culture of all time?
No. The Cossacks are. Greeks are fat and lazy. Maybe if they weren't so busy trying to find boipussy they could be as rad as The Russians.
The ancient Greeks also practiced pederasty so there's that.
Probably the Thracians.
Is this really the vicious cycle of history?
No.
