Was there ever an American President that was a bigger epitome of JUST than Herbert Hoover?
>>1986629
What'd he do?
>>1986694
It was the last time that Americans elected a mega-conservative businessman with no elected office experience, and was the last in a line paleo-conservative presidents.
When the great depression hit his response was schizophrenic and a case of "too little, too late". He was a one term president whose policies (and those of his predecessors) were widely blamed with causing the depression.
Hoover & Carter were both Presidents who, although they certainly did their share of bad and stupid decisions, ultimately had a lot of rotten luck. I'm definitely not saying they're blameless but, I do feel bad for them when they get bashed by historians & so on.
Warren G. Harding, on the other hand, now there's a president who deserves the wrath he gets

What do you think of New Atheism, /his/?
Is there anything ''new'' to it?
Could it be considered a religion?
Well first of all Hitchens is a blasphemer and that's why he got throat cancer...
>>1985974
you shouldn't be this childish and spiteful
>>1985976
I could be much more spiteful if I wished, but I'll hold my tongue so as not to speak ill of the dead.
What's the practical purpose of religion in a modern world dominated by scientific facts? The sole purpose of religion was to provide explanation about the nature of the world and to set moral codes in society. Today however we have full vast scientific knowledge that disproves the claims of religious texts, and we have secular laws instead of religious ones.
Today religion serves only as a mean for churches and preachers to score big cash without contributing anything meaningful to society.
>inb4 hope
lying and giving false hopes is not productive
Most of the great scientists of history were monotheists. Your idea that atheism and science have anything whatsoever to do with each other is flawed.
>>1985924
Belief in god as a vague concept is not the same as being a religious cuck. Most scientists are not devout followers of a specific faith but instead are naturalists. Some of them happen to like the idea of a higher being but they won't proclaim to have evidence that this being exists anywhere but their minds.
>>1985918
It's good for ez-peezy moral lessons. Trying to arrive at a decent justifiacation for ethics through science or secular philosophy just invites nihilistic edge lords. If you want the majority of people to get it, you just say "Jesus frowns when you're a cunt."
>The axis was run by manlets
Is this why they lost the war?
Unlikely but certainly possible

It's 'cuz of natural selection from WWI.

How come the Catholic Church at least never answered the tolerance other faiths showed them?
>Allowed to spread through the Roman empire with a few outburts of persecution
>Prohibit paganism wónce they are in power
>Allowed to spread through pagan Scandinavia, Norse pagan king even inviting one of their missionaries once
>Prohibit pagan rituals once they hold the majority
I suppose there are more examples but those are the two I got on the top of my head.

Because the Eternal Papist thinks kindness=weakness.

>Roman empire
The Roman Pagan Church was founded in 1545 A.D.
Because Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Light. The Romans were content to absorb pagan beliefs willy-nilly, but that's not how Christ operates.
Under Stalin, how did everyday Soviet citizens feel about their government?
Is it true the Caucasus fucking loved him?

many times people are unaware of being in a communist or fascist society or at least to the degree that they are (propaganda)
They lived in a state of perpetual terror.

Why is he so popular with the far-right?
He sounds like a major autist. If he was born 100 years later he'd probably post on 4chan

It's 1919. You are in charge of the Treaty of Versailles.
You need to prevent Germany from chimping out in the future, yet you also need them strong enough to trade with and act as a counter to the U.S.S.R. (and France).
What do you do?
>>1984603
give them france
I let them keep all their damn land and don't impose outrageous reparations. No retard inflation to genocide them all, let them keep their army.
I guess do nothing or completely dismantel the country

Fuck off Voltaire, they met every single one of those titles
>Holy
Power was given by the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church
>Roman
The German prince-electors, the highest-ranking noblemen of the empire, usually elected one of their peers as "King of the Romans," and he would later be crowned emperor by the Pope
>Empire
On 25 December 800, Pope Leo III crowned the Frankish king Charlemagne as Emperor, reviving the title in Western Europe after more than three centuries.
They were an elite fighting force during world war 2 for hitler's Germany. Where do you rank them in modern military theatre
Delta force x 1000
Dey used to be able to destroy entire Soviet tank divisions with their minds alone!
Now get your germanic asses to sleep!
>>1981581
You don't know anything about the SS
They weren't particularly above Heer in terms of training and equipment, but they were pretty fanatical and ferocious in combat, often to the point of suicidal missions. And most of them were volunteers.
Some divisions like Leibstandarte, Das Reich and Totenkopf were considered "elite" because of the amount of heavy action they saw and experience they gained. Note that some units had huge casualties because of fanaticism and recklessness, for instance LSSAH was basically annihilated as early as in 1942 and then relocated to France for rest and refilling.
Why didn't the Germans just go around the Berlin wall?
>>1981210
Berlin was an enclave-like area surrounded by East Germany.
