Is Gender dysphoria or Transsexuality actually a psychological disorder? or is it a genetic thing like omosexuality? Or is it a genetic disorder?
As a society should we accept it or cure it if it is (Disorder of any kind)?

Inb4 /pol/ fags start talking about degeneracy

It's not a thread about what bathroom should they use.
People are ready to call you degenerate or bigot but no one answer or even ask the real question, i'm sick and tired of this shit.

It seems like it would be but I have no knowledge whatsoever on disorders like this. It just seems so ridiculous that you believe your "inner self" is a different gender, that's like saying my inner self is a robot. Why would your spirit even have a gender? I guess it might be because I'm not transgender but I really don't get it. The weirdest thing to me is that a lot of them end up fucking the opposite sex anyway. Like Bruce/Katelyn Jenner still sticks his dick in women and this trans boy (girl who thinks she's a boy) still liked guys, she just acted like a dude. Are they just identifying with Masculine principles or femenine principles or what? I can't understand it

I know barely anything about (black) African history.
Tell me something about what you consider to be the greatest black African empire and why you think it was the greatest of them.

No. It's not in a ruler's interest to destroy the mechanism that made them a ruler. It's all about gaining and controlling power and influence. None of that is possible in chaos.

"‘Listen to me, my comrades, brothers in hardship,
we can’t tell east from west, the dawn from the dusk,
nor where the sun that lights our lives goes under earth
nor where it rises."

Have any of you considered the theory that Homer's epic tales, the Iliad and the Odyssey, have ancient origins in the far Arctic north?

A few people have written books on this, Felice Vinci has material available online, but other researchers like Jurgen Spanuth have had work out on ancient North Atlantic civilizations for decades now and the more I read, the more it seems very likely that there was at least SOME influence from the far north. Consider the following:

1. Ancient historians including Tacitus and Plutarch have placed parts of Odysseus' world in the far north-- Plutarch claimed Ogygia was a 5 days sail north of Britain and Tacitus reported claims from Germans that Odysseus "sailed the Northern Seas" and "founded cities in Germania".

2. Many climatological and environmental details in Homer's epics correspond not with the clear blue and warmth of the Mediterranean, but instead describe a cold, rainy, misty world with wine-dark seas and mountains jutting straight out of the water (fjords?) Also, the "Ocean River" Okeanos has no real correspondence in the Mediterranean, but it certainly does in the North Atlantic as the Gulf Stream.

3. Solar phenomena described in both Iliad and Odyssey tell of days with no darkness and the "circle dances" of the Sun-- which can only be interpreted realistically as sub-arctic and arctic phenomena.

>>
4. The geographical layout of the lands and islands does not fit the Mediterranean-- historians have never been able to coherently map Odysseus' route in the Med, but it CAN be done in the Baltic/North Atlantic. One glaring example is the Peloponnese is described in both epics as being a great flat plain-- whereas the Mediterranean Peloponnese is mostly hilly and mountainous.

Many other details suggest a non-Mediterranean homeland of Odysseus. What do you guys think?
>>
>>1991322
I would have to read the book('s) to judge the theories, but it seems rather unplausible. Also Spanuth was a Nazi wrighting about an aryan/germanic Atlantis in the Northsea near Helgoland, so I don't think that I'm gonna find his wrightings very trustful. Find me a more conventional scholar wrighting about it and I'm gonna look into it
>>
Seems really intereesting though. Maybe we really WUZ. But i've just recently started getting into history so excuse my beginner question. Do you mean that the tales of homer were inspired by events of scandinavia or something `? I havent read homers tales, for anyone wondering.

I want to cause a violent revolution where I live, forming an independent Northumbrian state.

Where do I start? Historically how did nationalist and seperatist movements break off from empires to form independent nations and states? What techniques where used to gain the masses on their side?

Also just a general thread on Northumbra and seperatist movements.

So I'm reading the Bible, done with the book of Genesis, and about 10 chapters into Exodus (no pun intended) at the moment.

Where do Christians get the idea that god is omnipotent and omniscient? He doesn't seem to have any of these properties. Maybe really powerful, and close to all knowing, but in no way having those two properties in full.

In fact a lot of discrepancies and inconsistencies are solved if you read it "sola scriptura".

you dont think so? read the rest and see how he just repeatedly takes people out without fucks given.
>>
>>1990883
Omnipotent means having ultimate power, right? Being all-powerful? ALL-powerful.

That means nothing should be impossible. He should be able to snap his fingers and make anything happen, but he can't. Great things, sure, but not anything.

Same goes for omniscient, he doesn't seem to know everything, past, present and future.

>Where do Christians get the idea that god is omnipotent and omniscient?

By changing their god to better appeal to those familiar with Greek philosophy.

Hello /his/, I study visual arts, but I intend to work on an art project that will go along with a theoretical research in 2017.

The point of my thread is: how do I study history?

History is not my field. I would like to see books and articles (or your personal tips) on how to conduct such a research to a higher standard, what is good practice when writing about history, how to avoid prejudice and misinformation, what methods one have to study the past and so on.

The theme in question is divination, so I'll comment on things such as the Yijing, Greek oracles and Tarot. I'm gathering resources like books and academic papers, but my own teachers are not historians and can't help me with the method.

There are 2 sorts history - real and official. There a lot of data about official history, but it is still under states pressure - full of propaganda, post-war corrections, more and more lying towards past, up to artistic legends about "Middle Ages" and pre-Greek civilizations. If you will working on official history, you will receive detailed order with clear goals ("Hitler was bad"-"Our country wasnt agressor"-"This city is fucking ancient").
Real history is much harder and has some specific methods. Publication can be crime.

To be honest, it sounds like anthropological works will be more useful to you. Anthropology looks at what is universally (or otherwise) human and will help you to find a common thread in a large body of disparate primary source material.

The 'historical' method will require you to look at primary evidence, filter it through the prism of secondary scholarship - which hopefully you have weighed based on your own readings of primary source material - and come to your own conclusions with regard to the specific set of parameters you have given yourself for your enquiry.

Probably the most important thing to do when coming up with the question/questions you want to answer is to not then cherry pick from primary source material to fit your hypothesis. Rather, the character of the primary source material should alter and redefine your initial question.

A good place to start might be with either E.H. Carr's What is History of G. R. Elton's Practice of History. Both are old, both authors have, to use Carr's phrase, 'bees in their bonnets' - but both are classics for a reason.

They had less stuff, and at the very tail end, they got sick and started to Commie up.

They never actually got pushed out of France, so the Allies never really got a decisive tactical victory.

What historical hairstyle do you like? I like this late 18th to early 19th century era one, dunno what it's called though. I remember Hegel and Beethoven had this kind of hair too. Napoleon too, before he grew his hair. Female too, by the way.
