Centuries ago we had men such as Edmund Burke who were proper Conservatives, that believed in freedom and limiting the state, they wrote books which were wonderful to read and inspirational.
But nowadays there are no great intellectual right-wing thinkers, even figures like Buckley from the 1960s are shit and get off on a wide array of vocabulary without substance.
When will a genuine intellectual movement rise in the right-wing that isn't autistic and actually holds fundamental beliefs of Liberty and restricting the powers of the state?
Or will they always succumb to base instincts of creating some kind of perfect ordered society that contradictorily returns to traditional values whilst maintaining Capitalism? (How the fuck can that work?)

Proposal: Should Britain not have joined World War One, she would have better preserved her empire and would have longer remained the world leader.
Great Britain went from being the biggest lender before WWI to being the biggest debtor after WWI, losing India, Ireland, losing grasp of Africa and Asia, losing a million men to death, crippling or mental breakdown.
Was it worthwhile? Was the alternative, a likely quick victory for imperial Germany and a 1871 tier peace with Russia and France, a worse situation for Great Britain and would a victorious Germany have challenged her?

Depends on what subfield you want to go into. I'm really only qualified to talk about archaeology, but I do know it's much, much harder to get a career in cultural anthro or linguistics. Obviously most people who go into those fields and manage to make a career out of it do so in academia, so you'll need to be good enough (and well-off enough) to get through grad school and land a professorship somewhere. I don't know how hard it is to walk down that route these days, but you can count on plenty of competition and it's not like you'll make bank even if you succeed. If you're a physical anthropologist it's a little easier, some of them go into forensics etc, but again that's outside of my experience.
It's late here, so I'm not gonna write up a whole long screed if it's going to be wasted, but career prospects in archaeology is one thing I am qualified to talk about, so if that sounds like something you're interested in let me know and I'll reply when I check back here. If archaeology's not your thing and you have your heart set on being a cultural anthropologist then I can't really help you beyond wishing you lots of luck, which you'll need.
