In short, if all the matter in the universe except the nematodes were swept away, our world would still be dimly recognizable, and if, as disembodied spirits, we could then investigate it, we should find its mountains, hills, vales, rivers, lakes, and oceans represented by a film of nematodes. The location of towns would be decipherable, since for every massing of human beings there would be a corresponding massing of certain nematodes. Trees would still stand in ghostly rows representing our streets and highways. The location of the various plants and animals would still be decipherable, and, had we sufficient knowledge, in many cases even their species could be determined by an examination of their erstwhile nematode parasites.

No, qualia are a figment of how our brains construct reality. Take color for instance, people think it's "just" wavelengths but in fact the same wavelength of light can appear as different colors depending on the situation. The "qualia" of color is something our brains add to the images we see, if you were to lose the ability to see colors, the world wouldn't just be black and white, it would be utterly bewildering.

I'd say the tribes were healthier overall, than agrarian or industrial societies, which lived almost exclusively on grains, legumes and hardy vegetables, whereas a hunter-gatherer would have a far more diverse diet.

In general it was true before the modern era. Agricultural societies "won" because they could grow faster and support higher populations, not because individuals would be better off. In modern times, however, we've greatly surpassed the advantages of H-G living.
