Why are totalitarian ideologies like Nazism and Communism, which have brought so much suffering and destruction to the world, still so much popular among common people? What drives a rational, sane person to adopt such way of thinking?
people admire big man with big stick with well defined rules and well defined punishments
liberal democracy boring inoffensive and milquetoast
need big man with big stick to make all those mean people go away
>What drives a rational, sane person to adopt such way of thinking?
Good times create weak men.
Weak men create bad times.
Bad times create strong men.
Ideology.

Such a dumb way to die. Aurelian and Diocletian get all sorts of credit for bringing Rome out of the crisis of the third century when he was the guy who really got things turned around.
How aware the average German soldier was in, say, 1944 that they are losing the war? Was the reason they still put up a fight that they didn't really know what the situation was on the other fronts and how great the Allied industrial base was compared to theirs? From what we know already, the war was decided by at least 1943. But I suspect most soldiers were unaware of this, otherwise they would have started deserting by the divisions.

>How aware the average German soldier was in, say, 1944 that they are losing the war?
Fairly well aware. At that time Germany wasn't fighting to win any more but to minimise damage.
Of course they were aware they were losing. One year you are the masters of Europe, the next you are fighting for your very survival.
>>2036493
Most were fairly aware that they were losing, especially veterans who had been fighting since the early victories of 1941.
I thought you said they weren't nordic.

Question to Atheists. What evidence would be enough for you to believe in God and if there is none than how atheisn isn't some kind of blind faith?
>not believing in something == faith
Stop with this meme
>>2036349
Yes. Faith is believing in something that happened but have no actual proofs, like holocaust.
>>2036334
surely, knowing God exists isn't enough. Knowing God exists doesn't entail faith does it?
Atheism isn't blind faith if you think of it as a default position in terms of a view of the world in terms of evidence, using minimal assumptions.
I also think that atheists can't also be seen to have faith in a practical sense because in faith, when you believe in God, it gives you a specific expectation of the future of the world; like heaven, God's love etc. There's an epistemic cost if that is wrong, in terms of your investment in that expectation. I believe Atheists don't have the same investment in those kinds of expectations of the future.
>i hate all women
what did he mean by this?
That he was a manlet and women literally laughed at him.
>>2036303
He knew women.
He realised that they don't understand what loyality, values, nation, religion are. He knew they betray and lie. He knew they're more animal than men, they act on impulse due to their emotions, which cloud their judgment. They will cheat on their boyfriend or husband if this feels right in this moment to them, without thinking about hurting anyone.
The full quote I believe is:
>All women are whores, except my mother, but she's a woman as well.
Emperor knew it.
Was the Soviet Union on the right side of history?
There is no "right" or "wrong" side of history.
>>2036282
>right side of history
No, it on the left side of history
>>2036282
Technically, they were on the left side.
>There are people on this board right now who attempt to make good guys and bad guys out of history and only use it as a tool to reaffirm their own political beliefs rather than as an objective study of past events

this board is the spook confirmation range for all the cross board posters from every other board desu

This board also has people who think self-education is on par to that of actually going to college. The very fact that you are not exposed to other people's interpretation of the material you "learn" already makes it sub-par.
who would win between Roman Empire and Aztec Empire?

These were the best borders of Prussia ever had. The Vienna Congress ruined it.
>>2036055
>It is not well known that barely a century ago, Prussia, with its then predominantly Slav population, was not considered a German state at all; though its kings, who as princes of Brandenburg were ‘Electors’ of the German Empire, were considered German princes. At the Congress of Vienna, Prussia was registered as a ‘Slav kingdom’; and in 1830 Hegel still spoke52 even of Brandenburg and Mecklenburg as being populated by ‘Germanized Slavs’.
Really makes you think.
Wrong, those are the best borders of Prussia
North German Confederation Prussian borders > Polanblob Prussian borders
How do I go about usurping an extinct aristocratic title?
I don't mean claiming the coat of arms of the most noble and ancient house of Baker, Dukes of Baking and Plenipotentiaries of Wheatflour.
I mean something more on the lines of acquiring a physical title of nobility, doing some genealogical research, and claiming to have been born to that dead dynasty in a country where records are poorly kept. Maybe my "parents" were born in a French or British colony where records are very poorly kept, etc.
Would require some creative documentation.
What are your thoughts, /his/?
I think this one would compliment my complexion nicely
Bump, surprised there aren't more experts on title usurption, fausse noblesse and identity fraud around here
Just send your chancellor to fabricate some claims for the title you want. Once you get the claim than just declare war for it and if you win than gg, you're a count now.
The original empire. The one that everyone else was trying to copy, but failed miserably every time.
