How reliable are John Green's Crash Course videos, and what's /his/'s opinion on the host in general?
>>2067918
they're pretty shit desu, if you're in middle school some of the videos are okay, but he really makes it a point to judge history based on modern leftist values. it only gets worse with his later series. honestly, i'd skip them, a lot of people have criticized specific videos for just being factually incorrect or omitting important facts
If you have access to a computer, you'd be much better served just reading the wikipedia article.
>we have this thread everyday
REEEEEEEEEE
he isn't that bad.
he is biased, but he's a pop historian
just don't take everything he says as gospel and he doesn't do too poor a job for a general overview

This is why you can't take his comments about American lend/lease seriously.
In large historical battles what happened to all the dead bodies when everything was done? For example in the Battle of the Somme, how the fuck do you get rid of one million dead bodies? Were they just left to rot in the sun and how long would that even take before you could return there?
They became tourist attractions. The fields of skeletons would dissolve as people took souvenirs home with them. No joke.
just mass graves I guess
>>2067339
If you were lucky, there was enough left of you to be taken home and buried
Otherwise you were thrown into a mass grave
What contribution did the institution of slavery make to the Roman economy?
>>2066835
>cheap labor
>gladiator entertainment
>sex slaves
>>2066851
Crashed it with no survivors.
Essentially what outsourcing does to the American Economy.
Less work for skilled Romans, and more cheap (free) labor for the wealthy
Honestly, now that HD photography exists, art such as pic related aint needed anymore so we moved to hentai, urinals and mentrual blood
But can you imagine how impressive this piece must've been for people from the 1800s?
>>2066711
It's still really impressive, honestly
Like damn, I wish I could make art like that
>>2068108
Honestly, this.
It doesn't stop being impressive just because photographs exist, there's just no practical application
art was going to "degenerate" at some point or another merely from the ease at which oil based paint was available

So, here's the eternal question: was Constantine (genuine) a Christian, or not?
If he was not, then why did he initiate the first waves of anti--pagan legislation/action, such as executing priests and destroying down pagan temples?
>>2066611
He was baptized an Arian. He's a heretic

Is this a solution, or a compromise?
>>2066447
Depends on your position.
I'd imagine anyone adhering seriously to Biblical Inerrancy and literalism would say it's compromise given that we go straight from fish to birds on day four.
>>2066447
its untenable and theistic evolution is untenable and a lie. how can it be compatible if the bible says birds came before insects!
>>2066487

This is only a problem if you're a literalist or buy Biblical Inerrancy.

This is koan thread.
This is first koan:
A monk asked Yun Men, "What are the teachings of a whole
lifetime?"
Yun Men said, "An appropriate statement."
This is excerpt from Yuanwu's comment on the case:
People often misunderstand and say, "Buddha's preaching
was appropriate to the conditions of one time." Or they say,
"The multitude of appearances and myriad forms are all the
impressions of a single truth and call this "an appropriate
statement." Then there are those who say, "It's just talking
about that one truth." What connection is there? Not only do
they not understand, they also enter hell as fast as an arrow
flies. They are far from knowing that the meaning of that man
of old is not like this.
Now solve!
The fart of a butterfly.
>>2066306
are you suppose to just meditate and have the koan in your mind, is it even possible in translation
Who is it who now repeats the Buddha's name?
Who is dragging this corpse about?
What is this?
What is it?
What was the original face before my father and mother were born?
Who am I?
