Is IQ a spook?
I'm considering taking the Mensa test. I know I won't make it, but I wanna know my score.
>mensa
literally a 99%ers club
>Is IQ a spook
Only if you commit to actions above your egotistical rational using it as justification.
>Is IQ worth anything?
In children on a mass scale. IQ on a single adult is literally their puzzle solving ability and does not denote intelligence.
if you do well on an IQ test it doesn't necessarily mean you're smart but if you're smart you will do well on an iq test
>>2065905
"No". You can practice for an IQ test beforehand. You can actually train somebody with down syndrome to score over 200 on the tests.
The absolute only time IQ has worth is measuring the development speed of children and only when the sample size is very large.
Is he, dare I say it, /ourguy/?

Dwarves > dwarfs
So yes.
>>2065723
Nope. His imaginary world is so perfect it's boring.
GRRM while not particularly skilled at compact writing(or writing to begin with, watch the show instead) even compared to Tolkien created something that feels real.
How come the USA always demands free trade when it is one of the most protectionist developed nations?
>>2065645
>inb4 it's doesn't
>>2065645
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protectionism_in_the_United_States
>>2065645
Free trade would be best when government is cutting into my private profits. When I'm going broke it's the government's job to bail me out at the expense of general society.

If Muhammad was a trader, then how did he learn to fight and lead armies?
>>2065578
from being a trader
>>2065580
how does a trader in late antiquity Arabia know how to wield a sword or fight in mail armor or fight on horseback?
>>2065578
You don't really need much knowledge of tactics and strategy to get men to fight for you, you just need to properly motivate them. Most warlords led through their character and by personal example rather than by their tactical knowledge.
Post countries that should be divided between other countries
>>2065292
england needs to be divided into inner city london, south east, deep north, midlands, manchester-leeds urban area, cornwall and then wales which can have parts of south west like somerset and bristol.
>>2065292
>>2065292
definitely not 2016
Lots of stuff happened in 1492
1945, maybe. Set up the while post-WWW world order.
Discuss: morality in a tolkeinite theology.
Btw..
.Re: Anyone notice the similarity of mordors shape to turkey? and minas tirith to constantinople on the bosporus? and gondor with its caretaker in the south being split from arnor in the north where are aragorn the true king lies? alternative history where catholics save constantinople and the orthodox church from the savage turks or mordor?
- I didn't get to make my 300th comment address so here it is; thank you guys for a wonderful experience, i really didn't expect the thread to blow up into such a wonderful communal experience where we could discover so much about eachother and make so many great conversations about literature, history and the human race. Its been an honour to be your OP and i hope i can be at some further point. I also hope we will keep creating tolkeinite historical threads.
so glad we made this happen guys; thanks alot.
>>2071022
just FYI.
/tv/ has the best Tolkien threads on this website, almost daily. 4chan culture strangely enough includes Tolkien and all the nerds who cannot get enough of his lore.
You will always almost get a Tolkien thread on 4chan, it's one of the only reasons I still stay here.
>>2071061
There's been two tolkien threads here this week and they've honestly been the best threads I've seen on this board in a while.

what about /lit/? does it have more than lit?
I think cats, because without them, we may have been wiped out due to pests infecting our food and spreading disease.
>>2070810
Horses
Oxen
Dogs
Cats
It was the beasts of burden that enabled the agrarian revolution in Europe
Dogs kept pre-civilized humans safe
Cats are good for pest control, sure, but nowhere near as significant in human civilization as dogs
>>2070810
The cats are the pests.
>>2070810
Cats are relatively useless. Along with vermin, they kill birds, snakes, lizards, and frogs- which tend to also eat pests.
Plus you can't easily compost cat manure like you can dog manure. You'd need a special vermiculture that only ate cat shit. Whereas you can mix dog shit in with your food scraps to make high quality worm castings.
In short, Dogs are the better deal. They've been known to protect humans from larger predators like cougars, bears, wolves, coyotes, foxes etc. While there are youtube videos of cats doing the same thing- dogs are reliably better at it.

We should've nuked them instead of Japan. Stupid Project Manhattan took too long..
Would you rather have the abortive mess of German city-states instead OP?
>>2070559
Absolutely. They would've been easier to tame.
got any stem friends who will sometimes put on a very patronizing, slow voice and tell you something completely wrong about history? how do you deal with them? any good stories?
>>2070449
why is it that stemfags never bother with the meta, like an autist staring at the cycles of a washing machine and loving all its mechanics, but never bothers to think about its functional role, or what exactly a washing machine is and isn't. Why is it there, etc. Otherwise it's just data with no realization or comprehension
>>2070464
Why is it that /his/fags give these sweeping generalizations
>inb4 anecdotal evidence
>>2070491
yeah well I bet you're an autist, huh huh, uh what you gonna do buddie?

Yea thats right and the roman empire originated in nova scotia
>>2069849
hip hipip hourrah pour l'acadie :DDDDD
Is the declaration of wars now obsolete? When was the last declaration of war between nations and who are involved?
What's keeping us from declaring future wars? Is it because of the technological advancements? i.e. First strikes / massive surprise attacks?
Formal declaration of war lost its purpose with WW2
>>2069804
What made it that way?
Russia declared war on Georgia in all but name in 2008, the traditional act of declaring war looks bad in the modern world so now it's "peace keeping" or "intervention".
Meanwhile, in /his/ Hell...
Having fun down here, you damn heathens?

(What's a Stalingrad?)
>>2069634
Tito really loved his uniforms didn't he?
How did he manage it? Head of the Luftwaffe AND the Yugoslav partisans!
Amazing!

This quite possibly my favourite historical theory of all time.
