ITT: We list countries which, based on historical evidence, have shown themselves to be contained with nothing more than philosophical zombies. My money goes on pic related.
>Marx and Hitler are historically not important
>gib free (You) nao!

i'm not saying they're not important, only that their autistic actions have shown us that they may have no consciousness

marx didnt do wrong
I want to start getting into history but have no foundational knowledge. Are there are documentaries you would recommend? Particularly if I'm trying to get an overview to work off of.
i started university while i was in your same situation.
just start somewhere, i started from middleages history, then i did modern history and now i'm facing roman history.
Just start somewhere by picking up a good history manual
P.S. if you want an overview just go on yt and look for ''history of the world in 1 minute'' or stuff like that, funny or not they always work

People get butt blasted about Howard Zinn, but he is a good overview for American History if you want easy to chew long read that isn't as trimmed as a college text book,
I would recommend David McCullough for American History also. His book 1776 is a profound window into the goings on at the start of the American Revolution (First American Civil war in a way boys and girls, if you read about the size of the loyalist militias and the confiscation of goods and property, seriously check it out).
As an American I have a pretty obvious bias for mine country's history. That aside, I could recommend other historians from around the world but I would rather leave that to my European, African, and Asian friends on the board.
Now that the dust has settled, why does the greatest swordsman in history recommend dual wielding if neck beards on the internet say it's impractical?
Have you even read the book of 5 rings? One of the first things he says is that there is no "perfect" weapon (or weapon combo), weapons are tools and you ought to choose the best tools for the job.
It is actually a treatise advising impetuous young bucks against irrational beliefs.
>>3295716
Not him but I think I've never found a more inspirational book. Truly a masterpiece and A timeless book of insight, philosophy, and overall a good story.
>>3295696
> why does the greatest swordsman in history recommend dual wielding
He doesn't, not for every situation. All the techniques in the book and most of the sword techniques in his style (which is still practiced today) are for one sword.
>greatest swordsman in history
He wasn't even considered the greatest swordsman in Japan when he was alive

Its Ok, its hardly ground breaking and clearly takes a lot from older writers like Sun tzu
If life is really worth living why do states have to go out of their way to make the administration of euthanasia in controlled medical environments illegal for humans, particularly given it's standard practice to euthanize household pets on the explicit basis of sparing them from suffering?
Because you are a tax and debt farm product for the system. Now take these antidepressants and get a job!

>something like the USSR
is something you get when you try genuine commie liberalism, the kind american college kids crave at the moment, but then you realize its fucking destroying the country and push that shit out of the window, but have too much pride to turn around completely.
I bought this cheap in a yard sale but probably fake tho but it's something cool to have.

Ugh
Where did Afroasiatic speakers and especially semitic ones originate from?
Natufians and related groups?
It seems so since Berbers and Egypshuns spoke Afroasiastic languages well before Mesopotamian mixed groups invaded them
Same thing with the Arabs who spoke Arab (This time a full fledged Semitic language) well before they mixed with the local Mesopotamians...
So iranian farmers spoke those weird Elamite/Dravidian languages and other wird ass isolated langauges like Sumerian and other weird CHG like languages like Hurrians, I don't about Anatolian farmers but they probably spoke something akin to Basque so something very looooooosely connected to Caucasus langauges like Hurrian, do I got this right?
While Natufians spoke some Semitic bullshit and other Pseudo basal Europeans spoke other Afroasiatic langauges like Beber or ancient Egypshun which are of the same langauge group as Semite (Afroasiatic)
>I don't about Anatolian farmers but they probably spoke something akin to Basque so something very looooooosely connected to Caucasus langauges
we don't know what they spoke. there is absolutely no reason to assume they spoke anything related to basque. and basque is definitely not related to caucasian languages.
>>3295607
Basque is pre indoeuropean nigger and basque are autosomically 70% European farmer, there are also a bunch of parallels in common in the pre IE "Mediteranean substrate" between Basque words and other common Pre IE words from regions like the Balkans and Sardinia
>>3295570
>Where did Afroasiatic speakers and especially semitic ones originate from?
Afro-Astiatic speakers come either from the Horn, Egypt, or the Levant, genetically they were E1b1b.
Semitic speakers either comes from Maghreb, Egypt, or the Levant(Natufians), genetically they were E1b1b as well.
As for how they did it they peacefully migrated into Sumerian land, or spread it through violence.
>Natufians and related groups?
The most widepsread theory is that Natufians were Proto-Semites and conquered the Middle-East, then forced their language onto the Mesopotamians J1/J2. Genetically they were E1b1b and CT(most likely slave).
> I don't about Anatolian farmers but they probably spoke something akin to Basque so something very looooooosely connected to Caucasus langauges like Hurrian, do I got this right?
I heard that Hurro-Urartian is perhaps linked to Sumerians.
How can people justifie civilian killing?
Pic semi-related
When you deem them to be a potential enemy waiting to happen.
>>3295460
A Christian should never kill.
An awful lot of people are willing to argue in favor of killing civilians.
Anyone who says that dropping the Bomb helped end the War, for example.
Is Sharpe /his/ kino?
It's entertaining but not historically accurate (British troops are implied to be good and France is implied to give half a shit about that theater, which wasnt the case in reality)

Hey guys, I've decided to become Agnostic.
Now I know with complete fundamentalist certainty that every religion ever have a probability of being 50% true.
Please don't challenge me on the math, this is a matter of faith to me.
Well done son, I'm proud to be your father,
>>3295448
No.
Why don't you just become a deist?
Admit that divinity exists, tell religions to fuck off.
How do I formally become a Gnostic? I've been interested in Gnosticism for years but my dad says he's going to disown me if he doesn't see formal proof of me having joined a specific faith by the end of the year.
>>3295390
YOU CANNOT BECOME A GNOSTIC, YOU HAVE ALREADY FAILED THE FIRST TEST.
my dad says he's going to disown me if he doesn't see formal proof of me having joined a specific faith by the end of the year.
GOOD.
>>3295428
>Cannot become a gnostic
I just mean with formal proof. Like a Christian baptism.
>>3295390
1. WHICH KIND OF GNOSTIC?
2. GNOSTIC DOCTRINES ARE NOT FORMAL, THUS, FORMAL ENTRY IS BOTH, SUPERFLUOUS TO A SPIRITUAL DOCTRINE, AND IMPOSSIBLE.
3. YOUR FATHER IS AN IDIOT.
4. YOU ARE CONFRONTED WITH A CRISIS; YOU MUST CHOOSE BETWEEN (1) YIELDING TO YOUR FATHER'S WILL, AND (2) ASSERTING YOUR OWN WILL IN PRO OF YOUR OWN PURPOSE; THE FORMER CHOICE LEADS TO A LIFE OF MEDIOCRE COMFORT, AND PERSONAL FRUSTRATION; THE LATTER CHOICE LEADS TO A LIFE OF RADICAL STRUGGLE, AND PERSONAL FULFILLMENT.
YOUR CRISIS ACQUIRES MYTHIC DIMENSIONS WHEN ONE SUPERIMPOSES SYMBOLIC MEANING ON IT:
FATHER: DEMIOURGOS.
YOU: THE NOBLE HUMAN.
YOUR CRISIS: THE STRUGGLE BETWEEN TRANSCENDENCE OF THE KOSMOS, AND KOSMIC LIMITATION.
IN AN IGNOBLE WORLD, THE NOBLE ONES ARE INEVITABLY PERSECUTED —AN IGNOBLE WORLD WELCOMES AND PROPITIATES THE IGNOBLE, AND IS HOSTILE TO THE NOBLE.
>"Perhaps people think that I have come to cast peace upon the world. They do not know that I have come to cast conflicts upon the earth: fire, sword, war.

son and son against father, and they will stand alone."
— JESUS, "THE GOSPEL OF THOMAS", VERSE SIXTEEN.
>"Whoever does not hate father and mother cannot be my disciple, and whoever does not hate brothers and sisters, and carry the cross as I do, will not be worthy of me."
— JESUS, "THE GOSPEL OF THOMAS", VERSE FIFTYFIVE.
Was he actually crazy or is that just burger propaganda?
He had bouts of madness but he wasn't some kind of evil tyrant that the Americans make him out to be.
What would Europe be like today if Christianity never manage to triumph and wipe out the Roman pagan religion?
>>3295246
If Rome didn't pick it up, I would say Christianity would remain an obscure middle eastern cult and from that point the vision of modern Europe is utterly unpredictable.
It had way too much of a historical impact to even try guessing what would the world look like today with it out of the picture.
>>3295246
1. YOU ARE INCORRECT
2. JUDEOCHRISTIANITY TRIUMPHED, NOT "CHRISTIANTY".
3. PAGANISM IS NOT A FALSITY, YOU ARE DELUDED.

Why does it seem like Russia has always underperformed relative to its size? By sheer numbers, they should have been able to steamroll the Kaiser in less than a month. Instead, they got destroyed. Why? And don't say it was because of Bolsheviks. I'm talking about the opening months of the war, not the end of it.
>>3295233
Geography and railroads
Russia lacked both for a good opening
There was a huge shortage in rifles and rifle ammunition. About a 350,000 Rifle deficiency at the start of the war. There was a monthly need of about 200,000 rifles, but production averaged about 75,000. Also only three factories produced rifle munition in Russia in 1914. In short it was generallly the "undersupplied" meme being true.
This obligatory >>3295241
Also IIRC there was a lot of conflict among Russian generals which didn't help with organisation.
Source for munition shit: Jukes, Geoffrey, The First World War/ The Eastern Front 1914-1918,

It was mostly because of Tannenberg, which Germany won mostly by pure luck.
