No he was a Nazi lol

Prophetically so
According to some sources, a monotheistic religion arose in the first century CE within the confines of the Bosporan Kingdom, a Hellenic polity located in the Crimea and a client state of Rome. This sect supposedly worshiped a deity named "the Most High God", yet possessed no distinctive Jewish or pseudo-Christian traits.
Does /his/ know anything more about this? It sounds extremely obscure, as well as interesting.
>>2148040
It is not weird tho, Monotheism rises from Polytheism. Lactantius explains this in his book "Divine Institutions". Because the Gods of Polytheism aren't so much "Gods" but more like proxies of a superior one. Also, all of this supposed "Gods" has their power limited by the other ones. I recommend reading him, since it explains how Monotheism can evolve from Polytheism without necesarily having Judaist influence.
(Context: he is a convert from Pagan Roman to Christianity, his book is like a lot of refutation to the pagan faith. But this particular book "Divine Institutions" could explain how Monotheism rises from Polytheism)
>>2148061
>It is not weird tho
Historically, monotheism is "weird", in that polytheism seems to be the rule, and monotheism the exception. True monotheism has only risen comparatively few times, when compared to the myriad of local religions that were dominated by pantheons of gods, ancestor figures, heroes, and nature spirits.
>Because the Gods of Polytheism aren't so much "Gods" but more like proxies of a superior one
Gods weren't thought to be omnipotent. That's a Christian development. Most deities were accepted to be powerful, but not especially omnipotent.
>>2148081
I am mentioning the transition from Polytheism to Monotheism, that is what's not weird. Yes, Monotheism is weird, but it's not weird for a polytheist civilization to become monotheist over the centuries, this mainly arose from the rise of organized religions. And in many cases, the non-superior Gods were transformed into "Saints" or "Spirits" (As we see in a lot of syncretism in the Caribbean with Catholicism and pagan beliefs brought from Africa and Local Amerindian faith.)
Some researchers believe that King James, was a Black European. The picture of King James suggest that he may have been a Negro.

HOL UP
Hey /his/, I've heard that during the Black Death that bandits and such would inhabit the castles of lords that had died of the plague. Is this true? Can i get some recs for books that deal with the Black Death and how it affected society? I'm thinking about writing a novel set in the time period and wanted to do some research beforehand.
Desperation bumperino
That sounds awesome. Just imagine stumbling across a sickened kingdom, briefly becoming king with your bandit band before succumbing to the illness yourself.

Ye that's the idea of the story, a group of highwaymen move into a motte and bailey after the lord dies, wreak havoc on the populace of the area
Post the results /his/

True to some extent: it's led by a lot of salty Ex-Saddam army officers who weren't quite radical under Sad Hussy. They're probably in it for the power grab.

Who was right in that war ?
>>2146879
Nobody. Georgia should respect rights of republics and Russia should respect independence of entire Georgia.
>>2146879
EU courts ruled that Georgia was responsible for the war, firing the first shots on Tskhinvali.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8281990.stm
that said, they also ruled that Russia's response was excessive.
other than that
>25 year rule
>>2146879
this is waaaaaaay too recent, but it is russia who was in the right. obviously they were exerting undue influence in the area(ie handing out russian passports to south ossetians) but they didn't force the georgians to escalate things. honestly georgia was just monumentally stupid in this one.
What are your thoughts on Hans-Hermann Hoppe?
he looks pretty autistic
>>2146662
Based.
He looks Japanese. Which is probably why he confused self-ownership with serf-ownership and thinks that libertarianism is feudalism.
You only have to go back to the 1910s when the "modernist" style was non-existent, and the 1950s before it was a major style. Modernism was bundled up in a lot of uptoian optimism, with its seemingly rational utilitarianism and sexy sleekness. The plainess was passed off as a revelation; "it's a feature, not a bug", and even if that may be true, due to its relativism and inscrutibility, it has made architecture much more lazy, facile and unaccountable. Imagine a world where:
> Every country has a unique aesthetic character, alive in its streets and homes.
> Where neo-classicalism was the global style, but reinterpreted in each region in harmony with its surroundings.
> Where each building had depth and authenticity.
> Where our cities reflect a wider array of motifs, rather than the shallow palette that is available due to blind utilitarianism.
What do you think, /his/?
Who was the best secret agent in history?

007

The one you don't know about.
secret agents don't exist
95% of the CIA are schlubby overweight bookish accounting major types
the remaining 5% are just Delta Force meatheads

I recommend the full doco, but you can watch from 46mins to get a good summary, along with the best of their evidence.
I'd definitely call myself a skeptic, for most topics, but this is rather compelling.
Someone throw me some information to discredit this.

What's a "Liberal"?
I understand the general meaning of liberalism but what do Americans specifically mean when they say someone is a "liberal"?
Genuine question, these last months have been really confusing.
>>2146297
A lot of people just call everybody that disagrees with them a 'liberal'. Especially right-wingers.
It's kind of how some/a lot left-wingers use conservative as an insult.
Nothing more, nothing less.
>>2146297
"Liberal" nowadays in the US just means the new Left wing, which although doesn't exactly believe in Bolshevik communism, believes in socialized services like healthcare and more equitable wages.
American liberals tend to favor government intervention to help disadvantaged groups. More recently they started favoring certain social and civil issues like police regulation, female autonomy in healthcare and race relations.
Also for some reason, they want everyone to have rights except firearms enthusiasts. Which to me is kind of dumb because historically, left wing groups have been very supportive (in ideology and theory) of the "common man" having access to self defense against government overreach.
In the United States, the term "liberal" has become interchangeable with progressive.
Ironically, these progressive policies can include authoritarian practices such as gun control and hate speech legislation.
Could Poland fight off Germany if it attacked pre-emptively way before 1939?
It would need a very strong air superiority bombing primary industrial areas for 24 hours before the Luftwaffe could mount a defense. It is debatable concerning the speed/ability for the Wehrmacht to mobilize anti-air.
Ground war would be laughable concerning a Polish offensive unless they had that air-superiority and perhaps special forces posing as civilians to supplement the offensive. If Poland managed the offensive with anti-nazi and foreign support under the guise of stopping an invasion, the chances are slim but possible.
Although once again, speculative history is as useful as dungeon and dragons
no, the germans would burn the pastures and the polish horses would die of starvation
