Esperanto isn't a language by the strict definition since it's an artificial construct intended to mimic a naturally born language which is a fruit of the human mind.
It's like comparing a plastic flower to a real rose.
This timeline where Esperanto didn't succeed is a good one since I'm not sure if people who speak a plastic "language" natively like George Soros are really fully human.

So what's the actual point of learning dead languages like Latin as opposed to modern languages in schools? Unless you're studying history or classics in university, it seems like a bunch of pointless antiquarianism and generally a waste of time when it comes to children.

My take on the usefulness of teaching latin(which i don't really agree with, but i think does make sense), is that it lets people discover latin litterature, which is pretty important unless your idea of school is just getting kids ready for everyday life.

I always see people nowadays talking about the Middle East as though its radical Muslims, violence, and instability are all almost a result of themselves. That is, their religion just became or perhaps always was this radical by itself, that its hatred of the West is similarly natural, that its incompatibility with ideals of Western civilization and the United States is similarly natural.
However, is there really just no reason that this part of the world and this culture became this way? I ask because I am not super well-versed in world history, but I seem to remember quite a bit of European intervention following the collapse of the Ottoman Empire in the early-mid 20th century. More specifically, that Europe sort of 'propped up' the remains of the Ottoman empire and then eventually just withdrew this artificial stability? I don't remember exactly.
Main point is that I'm not trying to sympathize with the Middle East and all of its detested attributes and cultures and people, and I'm not trying to say who is to blame. I am only asking- is all of the terrorism, the instability, the radical Islam, and the hatred of the West in the Middle East only the 'fault' of the region, or is there some crucial history behind the region and its relationship to the West that might better explain its many problems?
Note that I really am coming at this with an impartial view. I see people online always talk shit about Islam and its incompatibility with the West, but I am wondering if perhaps this region and its ideals and its issues are a part of a 'bigger picture' of Western intervention rather than only an inherently destructive ideology.

Why is misinformation so persistent? Especially in the historical context? There's a tremendous amount of things that are quite simply wrong that millions of people believe fervently. I mostly look into military history (pleb, I know), and it's astoundingly common there, but I'm willing to bet that every branch of history has similar problems.
Some of it is an emotional investment in misapprehensions, the WE WUZING and the "my country is the best", but a lot of the shit floating around out there defies such a simple explanation, like misunderstandings about how medieval to renaissance weapons and armor worked, which I doubt anyone would get worked up over.
So why is it that correct information isn't displacing incorrect information?

And if you think the Jews were simply misunderstanding God, remember, this is when God was speaking directly to the Jews, dwelling the Ark of the Covenant, leading them in war, and performing real miracles, instead of speaking through some avatar who you could make a serious case never even claimed to be God and failed to convince the majority of Jews.
