I congratulate you - because you are by far much smarter than the average bear. And to be honest, I love you guys, not only because of this, but because you have had the sense to find your way here and gloriously shitpost.
I was "the smartest kid in the room" for my first dozen jobs. It wasn't until my early 30's until I found myself working within a group of peers. What was startling though, was the realization that many of my problems dealing with society was essentially down to the fact that most people are really.fucking.stupid. It was base humilty that prevented me from realizing that fact even though they had me in advanced classes and programs from 4th grade.
Maybe you don't realize this, and maybe I am giving you a leg up. I am a "Genius", but not in the sci-fi book sense. It is only that I have an IQ that is around 60-80 points higher than the "masses" in my society. I thought my problems in communication were my own, but they were simply limitations in exchanging information with people who can only juggle 3 balls to my 6. Trust me though, I really feel fucking stupid most of the time, and I am. Intelligence is a spectrum, and my analytical IQ is much higher than my emotional IQ.
Of course I am bragging, but also this is a public service. The way I learned this was doing computer support. Very early in my career I was supporting very important and very "Wise" and "Intelligent" people who mostly had simply lost brain plasticity and did not grow up with technology. I still consider many of them to be superior in intellect and wisdom than I, but I now consider myself to be "intellectually" at their level as I grow. At least I hope I will live long enough to understand the wisdom they were operating with.
Do you feel this? Do you know what I am saying?
(pt.1)
The median IQ in the world is still around 100 IQ. My IQ was measured in 1994 at 154 and is very likely now somewhat lower because I am an actual crazy person. I would guesstimate the average IQ of 4chan is around 125 and the average IQ of Reddit is 103. [This is of course very scientific but I don't share my methods]
Have you ever taken an IQ test or had an epiphany about how actually stupid the average person is compared to you? I bet many of you have!

Please kindly get the fuck over yourself.
Not history related.
Say the Axis powers won WW2. Could they hold on their conquest or would they collapse?
>>2257209
They couldn't have won WW2.
>>2257211
/thread
There are degrees of "win". The Nazis only could have won by the USSR collapsing and then making white peace with the British, and even then they'd be stuck with endless guerrilla warfare in their new lebensraum.
Japan conquering all of China, or either Japan or Germany invading and taking over the Americas, is absurd.
How relevant were pirates in their golden age? How accurate is their current portrayal?
>>2257071
They were very relevant, but most don't have a very accurate picture in mind thanks to them being highly romanticized. The majority of ship crews preying on other ship crews were privateers, paid for by France, Britain, etc to loot another Empire's shipping, especially the Spanish. They were very rarely intrepid men saying fuck you to the system, as they were actively serving Kings most of the time. Privateers would turn pirate when opportunities for legitimate work was low.
>>2257116
This just makes them sound cooler.
>>2257116
Seem like fascinating times, do you know any good books on the subject
The idea of "western civilization" is rather silly, it is a bunch of Americans associating themselves with things Greeks and other disparate groups did.
Well, republics don't really seem to have evolved anywhere else.
>>2257012
There a certain traits Western civilizations share, but they don't have a history and democracy is a Jewish idea anyway.
>>2257020
You say that, but the idea of true limited government seems to be exclusively European.
The Jews were an absolute theocracy at the time all of this was going on.
Did he do nothing wrong?

>an Imperial Grand Admiral
>nothing wrong

Iran was the ninth richest country in the world under him, with a dwelling middle class and rights with women in line with or even beyond contemporary western nations.
Compare that to now.

I don't get it... how could the americans elect such a lazy, no-good drunk as their president???

>lazy, no-good drunk as their president???
Grant?
>>2256865
That was a rumor made up to slander him. His real problem was that he was a chain smoker and also he was gullible as fuck.
>>2256885
>he was a chain smoker
What's the problem about that?
Would the confederates really have sided with the nazis if they had won and made it to WW2?
>>2256832
Probably, as the real US would still likely end up siding with the Allies, and the Confederates would become a failed nation soon enough and likely be taken over by someone similar to the leaders of the Axis powers, strongmen who claim to have the solutions to their problems. Undoubtedly, this solution would be the extermination of the blacks, as a slave labor force would no longer be effective and they would be seen as an outgroup by the white people.
M-multi-speculative history drifting!
>>2256832
>Confederates win
>USA severly weakened
>WWI happens
>No US intervention in 1917
>Either : French and anglos win in the early 1920's and dismantle Germany, effectively destroying its power FOREVER therefore no nazis
>Or Germany win and never become nazi
>Either ways : no nazis and no WWII
Let's be honest here.
Was there a chance of Germany won the war? After Stalingrad?
There wasn't a chance of victory from the moment he invaded Russia. Even less after declaring war on the US.
The best he could have hoped for was a stalemate using mobile defense tactics (such as Manstein proposed), but he refused them.
Regardless, Germany would have been bled dry and had they lasted longer, would have suffered the nukes we used on Japan.
>>2256808
Most people think if he invaded in may instead of june like originally planned he would have taken moscow before bad weather.
>>2256839
The Russians wouldn't have just keeled over because Moscow was taken. The reason why there's such an emphasis on Moscow is because the generals were adamant about taking it, mistakenly believing that the Russians were the French.
It's a way for German generals to deflect blame for Hitler diverting resources for the Kiev encirclement which Hitler deemed essential to deny the USSR both manpower and grain. In a way, Hitler was more of a progressive strategist than the old "take the capital and we win" mentality.
Did reactionaries actually think this bland shit was aesthetically pleasing?
It's fucking boring!

Modern Artworks are undoubtedly better than that bland crap.

Well at least they send a message.

Is architecture from the 20th and 21st centuries mediocre/underwhelming compared to that of the past centuries?
>>2256158
No, we just see it that way because we're used to our current architectural styles.
>>2256158
Nah.
While I am not a fan of abstraction in the slightest there is much merit in simple but beautiful structures. Sleek, clean skyscrapers and glass and steel frame buildings are an art unto themselves.
There is beauty in simplicity and efficiency.
For my whole life, I've always had a deep admiration for figures such as Napoleon, Julius Caesar, Sulla, etc. for being able to march with their armies and forcibly take power for the greater good of the nation.
However, I'm finding this difficult to logically explain why they were in the right. If they had failed to seize power in the capital, wouldn't they just go down as failed terrorists and enemies of the State? Furthermore, if they had a moral right to violate the law and seize power, wouldn't this mean that anyone willing to attack the government with the 'greater good' in mind is also right?
Kinda a newfag in philosophical thought though, so apologies
pic unrelated
You like mussolinis march on rome too?
>greater good
>>2256078
It takes balls to challenge the status quo, and it takes strength of character to get people to go along with that challenge. These are things which can be admired separate from the end results of those challenges.
If the Gold standard is not necessary for modern economies then why does the US still need Fort Knox?
Good goy, FIAT currency is the best currency.
Gold is a sure investment long term, so no reason for gov to sell it off
So if a country decides to go back to gold standard, the united states can just inflate the worth of gold to the point the country is forced to return to the fiat system.
