The English word terrible is usually used to translate the Russian word grozny in Ivan's nickname, but this is a somewhat archaic translation. The Russian word grozny reflects the older English usage of terrible as in "inspiring fear or terror; dangerous; powerful; formidable". It does not convey the more modern connotations of English terrible, such as "defective" or "evil". Vladimir Dal defines grozny specifically in archaic usage and as an epithet for tsars: "courageous, magnificent, magisterial and keeping enemies in fear, but people in obedience". Other translations have also been suggested by modern scholars.
Did nationalism exist to any extent at all before the 19th century? And when exactly during the 19th century did nationalism rise? Why did it rise?

Yes, but it was more about loyalty to the king
Tribalism has always existed, but autistically believing that everyone living inside the same borders should share language, culture and traditions was a phenomenom of the XIXth century.

Did the Jews of Babylon descend from Solomon or King David? Because if they descended from his other line "Nathan" then why isn't Nathan considered way more important than Solomon?
>>2326850
exiled Jews weren't just those with royal lineage, it was pretty much everyone in Jerusalem who wasn't a regular peasant
>>2326850
Abraham through Isaac through Jacob, whose name became Israel, and whose sons became the 12 tribes of Israel.
Both David and Solomon were of the tribe of Judah, the ruling class, so some Jews were descended from one or the other, or both. But not all Jews, as the other 11 tribes are distinct from Judah.
>>2326904
Ok but I mean the exliarchs. And i already found my answer online they descend from both since there was some "ding ding dong ding" inbreeding going on.
>>2326911
The ruling class descended from all three due to inbreeding. Just found out.
But if Judah is where they are from why is it called Israel instead of Judah?

It's not consistent with our current knowledge of the universe, archeology and history. It creates confusion and doubt in the faithful.
But if you accept the allegorical interpretation of the OT, like the earliest church fathers intended, then everything should be fine.

The first military genius?
Is he high?
Depends what you count as genius, but possibly Alexander the Great.
He was tutored by Aristotle, who was probably a significant contributor to his success.

Aristotle teaching him about "beings" doesn't really help in the battlefield
Why have the Germans been such a liked minority throughout history? Take the US for example, in which many Europeans such as the Italians, Scandinavians, and the Irish were disliked by the already settled white population but not the Germans. Or in Imperial Russia or Scandinavia throughout the ages, in which German names were considered high status.
