they were iconic architecture, a staple of the new york skyline. every time you see them in old films and whatnot, as an american you feel pain in the memory
i just think that pouring our resources (regardless of cost) into rebuilding the twin towers as they once stood would have demonstrated amazing resolve and pride from the united states.
besides the political reasons, the twin towers were simply beautiful works of art, and to have them replaced with something as ordinary an uninspired as the freedom tower is a disgrace. meanwhile, arabs are ironically building the most sophisticated skyscrapers on earth. does that not bother any nationalist/patriot of the usa?

It seems like everyone is trying to disassociate themselves from being labeled religious, as if it's an inherently bad term.

Religion simply means: "a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe" which often includes a supernatural element.
That's it, a very simple definition. It doesn't mean anything bad yet people put such a bad vibe on the word "religion", it's almost always used in a negative way and I see it constantly even on /his/.

Hey, /his/ I'm looking into Buddhism and it's philosophy but I'm not sure where to go. I have an abridged version of the Upanishads which has given me a basis for Hinduism but there are a lot of versions of the Pali Canon and I'm not sure where to look. Can anyone recommend a specific edition? Are there other texts I should read as well? Thanks.
