Btw your religion is a lie, jesus said you'd do miracles and you can't, he said not all his disciples would die before the kingdom came in power and they all died.
Gnostics had it right.

But proper Catholic apostles can turn bread into the literal body of Christ.
That's a miracle if I ever saw one.

No, its mere LARPING
I need some great books/sources on the Napoleonic Wars. I've had this autism slow boiling since I was about 12 but now I have adult spending power I'm going to go nuts and acquire knowledge
I'll start the thread off with this interesting thing

I'm reading Clausewitz On War so that's one thing.
Then I'll move on to his commentaries on Napoleons campaigns.

So whats with this guy? All I ever hear is that hes basically the grandfather of Fascism, but from the few things I read by him, he seems to value a free/liberal society as opposed to this brutal authoritarian one.
>Grandfather of fascism
No, that would be Nietzsche.
Evola is more like the uncle of fascism.
>free/liberal
Absolutely not. He's purely an aristocratic reactionary who does not believe in granting the middle class or various civil liberties. Whilst he does not advocate for the authoritarianism of the bourgeois (like Mussolini's regime), he advocates for one led by a nobility.
>>2433646
he has some quote (too lazy to look it up) thats something along the lines of "the greatest roman emperors ruled over free men, not slaves"
>every -ism is brainlet tier
Okay, go ahead and name a system of living or governance that isn't an -ism. I'll wait.

So let me get this straight, the Romans killed the founder of Christianity and then proceeded to make it their official religion. But why?
cos constantine saw a cross in the sky then he won a battle so it must have been jesus
The Jewish lobby leads to powers some may consider... unnatural.
Satan tried to wipe out Christianity, that didn't work.
So plan B was to co-opt the faith and mix it with paganism, destroy it from the inside. Anyone who disagrees is branded a heretic and burned on the stake.
What individual battles would have drastically changed the course of history had they gone different?
Maybe the battle of teutonburger wald. If Romans came prepared and would've beat the germanic urpising maybe they wouldn't have retreated from germania and hold it as they held gaul?

revolt of the Macabees against selucid empire, retaking their temple from the laxed jews embracing hellenism. What they celebrate Hannukah over. If they hadn't won this revolt, I don't think Judaism, Christianity, or Islam would exist today
Kursk. Hitler probably wouldn't have been able to win the war, but might have forced the allies into either nuking Germany or settle for a favorable, but not complete, victory. The Soviet Unions power would also had been severely compromised, and the union might even have dissolved.
Did the Axis powers even have a chance at winning in WW2? Or would their only option have been suing for peace on their own term?
>>2432699
Their best option would've been to ally with Stalin's USSR like Strasser originally wanted. Hitler was a great speaker and dare I say even a good enough military commander, but he was the shittiest diplomat of all time, highlighted by the fact the only meaningful allies he was able to gain was the shithouse that was Italy and a bunch of literally who Eastern European statelets.
>>2432699
The only way to have a chance would be to not be shit at diplomacy and bring all their neighbors against them, but they failed to learn from world war 1.
>>2432722
>but he was the shittiest diplomat of all time
That was Ribbentrop. Hitler ws actually brilliant in lying and backstabbing. Problem was in German intelligence and its underestimate of Red Army.
Why was Germany spared after being the cause of two world wars?

He was right about master/slave morality and the death of Christianity. Unfortunately his ideal of embracing Apollonian restraint to control our dark Dionysian impulses never did take hold and the west is imploding from nihilism.
>>2432281
Is it imploding from nihilism or the wrong type of nihilism? Isn't the problem that people don't want to be intellectually honest anymore and watch Buzzfeed and get fat on mountain dew?
>>2432293
>Isn't the problem that people don't want to be intellectually honest anymore and watch Buzzfeed and get fat on mountain dew?
Exactly, hence nihilism. There's nothing meaningful to ascribe to anymore.

Was Willy that bad? Or is it a meme? I can't help but pity the guy.
What was the most brutal battle in history? I'd say Verdun, Stalingrad or Berlin, but I'm leaning towards Verdun:
>First use of the flamethrower.
>Hour after hour of artillery barrages.
>No way to remove corpses, decaying bodies literally everywhere.
>People in forts drink their own urine, nearly starve to death.
>Catastrophic casualty rate.
>Germans completely fail to achieve their objective.
>No real winner.
A few choice quotes:
"They must be crazy to do what they are doing now: what a bloodbath, what terrible images, what a slaughter. I just cannot find the words to express my feelings. Hell cannot be this dreadful. Humans are insane!"
"One soldier was going insane with thirst and drank from a pond covered with a greenish layer near Le Mort-Homme. A corpse was afloat in it; his black countenance face down in the water and his abdomen swollen as if he had been filling himself up with water for days now."
On Flamethrower Attacks:
"They were so unrecognisable mutilated that we could not decide on their identities. Their skin was black entirely. One of them died that same night. In a fit of insanity the other hummed a tune from his childhood, talked to his wife and his mother and spoke of his village. Tears were in our eyes."
Cannae was pretty brutal. It was an all out slaughterfest, sure, but it also claimed the lives of a huge number of senatorial up and comers, not to mention a Consul. Basically a hell of a lot of the future political class was just wiped out in a day.

Why do you think the battle of Berlin was particularly brutal OP? The mass rapes? The Warsaw uprising was much more violent in terms of rape and civilian deaths. German soldiers described it as a "second Stalingrad". You'd also be hard pressed to find any Russian groups during the battle of Berlin as violent/deranged as oskar dirlewanger penal battalion.
war poet Siegfried Sassoon wrote: ‘I died in Hell (they called it Passchendaele)’.
On 31st July, after a barrage of an incredible 4 ½ million shells, fired from 3,000 guns, the British advance began. Surrounding woods and villages were obliterated for miles around. But the shellfire turned the upward slopes into a nightmare of shell holes, splintered trees, barbed wire and smashed field drainage systems. Then came the worst rains for thirty years, just as the British infantry attacked. The ground became a sea of mud and corpses. Soldiers floundered in the flooded morass. British tanks bogged down and became useless. Swept by German machine gun fire, gas shells and artillery, Passchendaele entered the lexicon of military horrors.
Daily reminder that the greatest British "victory" of ww2 was an organised rout where they didn't get as destroyed as they could have been.

>Daily reminder that the greatest British "victory" of ww2 was an organised rout where they didn't get as destroyed as they could have been.
Dunkirk, specifically, was one of many times Britain tried to make getting their asses kicked not look bad. The defeat was so crushing, they had to turn it into a legendary success in their heads to keep the cognitive dissonance away.
